MLK DAY OF SERVICE: BEACH CLEANUP

MONDAY – Long Beach Peninsula

Make it a “Day On, Not a Day Off”: Join the 2024 MLK Day Beach Cleanup in Long Beach! Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy by cleaning up our beautiful beaches and waterways. On Monday, January 15th, join us for a special MLK Day of Service event in Long Beach. We’re partnering with Algalita to host a beach cleanup, and we need your help to make it a success!

Why We Serve

Our beaches and waterways are vital to our community and the environment. But they’re also facing a growing problem: trash. Plastic pollution, cigarette butts, and other debris are harming our marine life and ecosystems. By participating in this beach cleanup, we can make a real difference in protecting our precious coastline.

How You Can Serve

Volunteers will be assigned to various locations along the Long Beach Peninsula and tasked with collecting trash. It’s a fun and rewarding way to spend your MLK Day, and it’s suitable for all ages and abilities.

What to Bring

Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes
Sunscreen and a hat
Water bottle (snacks will be provided!)
Trash grabbers and gloves (if you have them)

What We’ll Provide

Gloves, trash bags, and other cleanup tools
Snacks and refreshments
A chance to honor Dr. King’s legacy and make a positive impact on our community

This beach cleanup is just one of many ways to celebrate MLK Day in Long Beach. For 15 years, Leadership Long Beach has been offering a variety of service opportunities during this national day of remembrance. We invite you to join us in making this year’s event even bigger and better!
