DESCRIPTION:FATHER’S DAY- Rodeo Drive\, Beverly Hills\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance will return to Beverly Hills on Sunday\, June 19\, 2022\, celebrating 27 years as the must-attend Father’s Day event in Southern California. The free car show will present visitors and residents with an up-close look at some of the world’s most prestigious vehicles against the luxurious backdrop of designer boutiques that line the city’s most famous street. This year’s featured class is Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year’s Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance will be two events in one with a moving car rally escorted through city streets by Beverly Hills Police and a stationary concours-style show on Rodeo Drive. The rally will begin around 9:30 a.m. and showcase fifty of the world’s finest\, fastest and most unique automobiles before joining many more vehicles displayed on Rodeo Drive. The best viewing area for the rally will be along Beverly Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard. The Concours will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Rodeo Drive between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe event is kindly supported by the City of Beverly Hills\, the Rodeo Drive Committee\, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and local companies O’Gara Coach\, Auto Vault Storage\, Geary’s\, Two Rodeo\, Ferrari of Beverly Hills\, Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills\, RM Sotheby’s and Pirelli Tire. It benefits the Beverly Hills Police Officers Association and Beverly Hills Firefighters’ Association\, non-profit charities raising funds for first responders and their families. In 26 editions\, it has drawn the most sought-after automobiles from the 2015 Ford Mustang\, a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom\, a McLaren 12C\, and George Barris’ 1966 TV Batmobile to Rodeo Drive for auto-enthusiasts the world over to enjoy. \nThe Beverly Hills Tour d’Elegance promises to be constantly in motion. Co-founder of the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance and co-founder of the Petersen Automotive Museum Bruce Meyer\, whose family owns GEARYS Beverly Hills and the GEARYS Rolex boutique on Rodeo Drive tells us more: \nHow did the idea of the 2021 Beverly Hills Tour d’Elegance come about? \nMeyer: We were all set for the Concours last year and then the pandemic hit and we had to cancel it. The Rodeo Drive Concours team has planned the 2021 event with safety as the top priority. Our goal is to carry on the tradition of a Father’s Day car spectacle without drawing crowds to a central location so enthusiasts all over the City can watch the action along the length of the route from different vantage points. The result is the Beverly Hills Tour d’Elegance – a rally in motion\, unlike any other\, with the finest automobiles in the world touring the City’s most iconic landmarks\, among them Rodeo Drive. \n \nAnd how did the original Concours D’Elegance begin? \nIn the early 90s\, Beverly Hills had a fire truck that they had no money to restore\, but it was an original Beverly Hills fire truck. A group of us got together and thought we should put together a car show and restore that antique fire truck. And that’s really how it got started in Beverly Hills. And then along came Ferrari and they wanted to debut a car on Rodeo Drive. We closed the street off. We filled it with Ferraris\, and it was very exciting and very successful. So with that\, we thought Rodeo Drive is the perfect place to do a car show. We moved it to Father’s Day\, and since then it’s become the largest single-day event in Beverly Hills. \nRodeo Drive has developed a car culture of its very own. What’s your take on this? \nMeyer: Rodeo Drive is a fashion street. All the latest collections from all the great design houses are on Rodeo Drive\, and along with that comes jewelry\, watches\, and cars. People that get new cars always love driving down Rodeo Drive. Bijan parks his Bugatti and his Rolls in front of his boutique. The automobile and Rodeo Drive always seemed like the perfect combination\, the perfect match\, so to speak\, and it is today. \nWhat should visitors and auto enthusiasts expect to experience at this year’s Beverly Hills Tour d’Elegance on Father’s Day? \nMeyer: We missed last year\, so this is going to be a great celebration. We’re proud to be honoring first responders. There’ll be about 50 cars\, with celebrities and city officials at the wheel. The magnificent parade will leave from the Petersen Automotive Museum\, travelling up Wilshire Boulevard\, through Beverly Hills\, up Beverly Drive to the Beverly Hills Hotel and down Rodeo Drive.
