DESCRIPTION:MONDAY – Long Beach Peninsula\nMake it a “Day On\, Not a Day Off”: Join the 2024 MLK Day Beach Cleanup in Long Beach! Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy by cleaning up our beautiful beaches and waterways. On Monday\, January 15th\, join us for a special MLK Day of Service event in Long Beach. We’re partnering with Algalita to host a beach cleanup\, and we need your help to make it a success! \nWhy We Serve\nOur beaches and waterways are vital to our community and the environment. But they’re also facing a growing problem: trash. Plastic pollution\, cigarette butts\, and other debris are harming our marine life and ecosystems. By participating in this beach cleanup\, we can make a real difference in protecting our precious coastline. \nHow You Can Serve\nVolunteers will be assigned to various locations along the Long Beach Peninsula and tasked with collecting trash. It’s a fun and rewarding way to spend your MLK Day\, and it’s suitable for all ages and abilities. \nWhat to Bring\n\nComfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes\nSunscreen and a hat\nWater bottle (snacks will be provided!)\nTrash grabbers and gloves (if you have them)\n\nWhat We’ll Provide\n\nGloves\, trash bags\, and other cleanup tools\nSnacks and refreshments\nA chance to honor Dr. King’s legacy and make a positive impact on our community\n\nJoin the Movement\nThis beach cleanup is just one of many ways to celebrate MLK Day in Long Beach. For 15 years\, Leadership Long Beach has been offering a variety of service opportunities during this national day of remembrance.
