DESCRIPTION:Join us at the beach to witness the King Tides. As a community\, we will observe and capture photos for the California Coastal Commission.\n\n\nWe will gather at 8:15 am by Heal the Bay’s aquarium to prepare to fan out across the beach. The main focus will be to capture great photos of the ocean’s tide at its peak. This will help scientific research on sea-level rise and its effect on our local beaches and infrastructure. When we are finished\, we will head over to Heal the Bay’s aquarium for educational demonstrations. We will learn about the planetary forces that cause the King Tides to occur. We will have  a community-based discussion about the effects of climate on our oceans. Light snacks and coffee will be provided to the community. \nThis is a collaboration with the California Coastal Commission\, which is gathering King Tides photos along the California coast for their research. This is a joint project between Heal the Bay and Climate Action Santa Monica. Everyone is invited to join!  \nPlease remember to exercise caution whenever you are by the water. How do I check out a Chromebook kit?\nRequests for Chromebook kits can be made using our online catalog or over the phone\, like any of our other materials. At this time requests are site-specific and can only be placed at libraries offering the service (listed above). Call a library offering the service to arrange a same-day checkout\, if kits are available.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. When can I pick up my Laptop & Hotspot?\nCall the owning library and arrange to pick up your kit during Sidewalk Service hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. How long can I keep the Laptop & Hotspot Loan? Can I renew?\nThe kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks. If no other customers are on the waiting list\, the checkout can be renewed up to 3 times. The renewal needs to be made before your checkout period ends.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. How do I return the Chromebook Kit?\nChromebooks must be returned in person to the owning library during Sidewalk Service hours. They cannot be returned in the bookdrop. They cannot be returned to any library other than the one where the kit was checked out. Please call the owning library to arrange a drop-off time and call again once at the library to alert staff. Staff will bring out a box labeled Laptop Return to the Sidewalk Service table. You’ll be instructed to remove all items – the Chromebook\, the wireless hotspot\, and both charging cables – from the carrying case. Put the case into the box first\, on the bottom\, and then put all other items in on top. Staff will check the box to make sure all items are inside and that they look fine. All items will be quarantined for 4 days and confirmed to be working properly before being checked in. Staff will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please remember that the loan will still show on your account until the quarantine and check-in process is complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Are there late fees?\nLate fees will be assessed the same as all other library materials. The Chromebook will become disabled once the loan period has ended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7. Will I be charged if the Chromebook is damaged while in my possession? How much?\nYes\, fees will depend on the type of damage.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8. Will my documents stay on the Chromebook after I return it?\nAll documents are deleted once the Chromebook is shut down. This will happen even during your 3-week checkout period\, so we advise you to back up your documents on a flash drive or in Google Docs if you are working on something you want to keep.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9. More than four years after its original closure\, Zebulon reopened in a new space in Los Angeles’ Frogtown neighborhood in 2017. \n  \n \nOwned by Guillaume Blestel and Joce and Jef Soubiran\, the club features nightly performances by local and international musicians and performers.  Performances have included artists such as Ty Segall\, Kim Gordon\, Blanck Mass\, This Heat\, Oh Sees\, Black Midi\, and Lingua Ignota. \n  \n \n  \nZebulon Non-Music Programming\nBeing owned by two natives of France\, and noted as a hub for France emigrants and francophiles from all over LA. Zebulon frequently collaborates with the francophile movie screening club\, La Collectionneuse\, to host free screenings of French films. They encourage club members to congregate at the club for drinks and food before their events in costume.
