Powered electrically\, The Grove trolley is the first use of inductive power technology in the U.S. for a transit system. \n\n  \n \nThe Dancing Fountain\nThe iconic fountain is located in front of the theater\, at the heart of The Grove. When you’re not tossing coins and making wishes\, enjoy a water spectacular every hour\, as the fountain dances to the feel-good sounds of Dean Martin\, Frank Sinatra\, Harry Connick Jr.\, Lionel Richie\, Nat King Cole and more\, as well as festive medleys during the holidays. \n\nThe Grove’s fountain was built by WET Design\, the same company who built the fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Featuring the best comedians from Television\, Los Angeles & the rest of the known world. \nA stand up comedy show… \n  \nLa Cuevita Comedy Wednesday Rod Stewart will not be there unfortunately.\n\n \n\nLa Cuevita Bar\nLa Cuevita is a Old World Mexican tequila- and mezcal-centric grotto (cuevita means cave… also bar used to be called Little Cave) in Highland Park. It’s decked out in vintage Mexican-themed trimmings\, has a spacious outdoor patio\, and free tacos on Tuesday nights (not a typo\, there are actually free tacos). The cocktail cave will quench your thirst with classic Mexican cocktails — Palomas\, Margaritas\, and the like — and beloved agave spirits — of which there are many — and your sate your hunger with small Mexican bites brought in from local vendors\, which vary depending on the night. \n  \n \nThe bar showcases an impressive selection of tequilas and mescals while also featuring the same type of distinctive concoctions and spirits that the 1933 Group team has become known for around the city. \nThe theme here is Día de Los Muertos\, where skulls\, skeletons and upside-down bats unapologetically grace mezcal and tequila-lined shelves. The slightly kitschy\, multi-room space feels like a dark and moody movie set—a haze of streetlights permeate the stained-glass windows\, while dim amber bulbs emanate from wrought iron chandeliers. After a couple potent mezcal margaritas\, you’ll begin to wonder if a hidden back door leads to an Aztec temple for a Tarantino-style beheading. \n\n\n\n  \n \n\n\n\nVitals \nGood for: Mexican-themed outings. The happy hour (daily 5-9pm) is fantastic\, when cocktails such as smoky margaritas and palomas are $5 and beers are $3. \nThe scene: Beyond the bouncer\, smokers congregate in a narrow outdoor patio and locals young and new\, in various forms of dishevelment\, soak up daily drink specials and weekly taco nights. \nThe playlist: Perhaps an odd playlist for a Mexican-themed bar\, classic Americana rock (i.e. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band\, Billy Joel) lends a throwback atmosphere. Local DJs take to the turn tables with punk and new wave beats\, as tattooed youngsters take to the dance floor. \nThe bartender says: Gone are the days when bikers and gangsters would frequent this watering hole.
