SUMMARY:Turtle Races at Brennan's
DESCRIPTION:EVERY 1ST & 3RD THURSDAY\n\n\nCome down to the Turtle Races at Brennan’s Bar & Restaurant\, every 1st and third Thursday\, and watch our star athletes put their track shoes on and tear up the track. \nYeah\, turtle races. It’s the real sport of kings\, and it’s found its home here at Brennan’s for 45 years. In 1975\, then-owner Ab Lawrence brought “the world’s stupidest sport” to Marina del Rey as a lark\, hoping that he could attract a few people for a couple of weeks. But the turtles knew how to draw a crowd\, so the races kept going. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere’s how it works\n\n\n\n\nEvery first and third Thursday\, the turtles come out of their turtle sanctuary and start limbering up. Come 8:30pm\, the first race starts and five turtles will enter the center of the ring. First one that makes it out of circle wins. It’s as simple as that! \nThink you’ve got a hot tip on who’s gonna win? Pay for a ticket to put your name in your favored turtle’s hat. If they win\, your name might get called—and you’ll get to win a prize from our prize wheel. Plus\, all of the money goes to charity! \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere’s only one rule…\n\n\nNo pointing! Our turtles get shy. If caught\, well… you’ll just have to come to a race to find out what the punishment is. \nForty-five years in\, and the turtles have shuffled out of the ring over 10\,000 times. Come visit us on the 1st and 3rd Thursday and take part in the tradition with us. But remember—don’t point! \n\n  \n\nHours\n1st & 3rd Thursdays: 8:30pm – 9:00pm\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.brennansla.com/turtle-races\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:TONIGHT @ 1720- Daft Punk and Friends Tribute
DESCRIPTION:TONIGHT @ 9-2am –  DTLA\nJoin us tonight at 1720\,  \n\n\n\nDaft Punk and Friends Tribute Party\nThu\, Dec 7\, 9:00 PM\nPlaying the classics\, french electro\, indie-dance\, disco\, and More! 🤖 \n\n\n\n\nThis is an 18+ event.\n\n\nPresented by 1720.\n\n\nNo Covid-19 entry requirements\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n1720 E. 16th Street\, Los Angeles\, CA 90021 \n \n1720\, named after its address\, 1720 E. 16th St.\, is a music venue that is like a neighborhood secret. \n \n \nLatticework of brick buildings and fortresses protected by barbed-wire fences. One of the owners described it as \n“a pre-gentrified war zone of the Warehouse District”.\n \nThe space\, in a former garment factory\, is the brainchild of principals Alex Alereza\, Powell\, and Travis Richter. L.A.’s premier party-throwers\, the Brownies and Lemonade crew\, christened the venue late last year\, and now 1720’s calendar is quickly filling up with a variety of genres from the underground to the mainstream. \n \n \nSleekly designed (by Brant Ritter) but still keeping a warehouse feel\, the 700-capacity venue comes with niceties that belie its neighborhood: There’s a state-of-the-art L’Acoustics sound system\, a triptych by artist Nick Knudson on the wall and au courant bar (Matthew Blackburn) and kitchen (Felix Barron) menus. \n \nThe space and its location reflect the experiences of the ownership triumvirate — thirtysomething musicians who have plied their trade in metal bands such as the Human Abstract\, From First to Last\, and Nekrogoblikon. Richter explains that the idea of a venue first arose when the trio started throwing parties (including one for Skrillex) in an office space occupied by Nekrogoblikon’s record label. “From there\,” he says\, “we went on a mission to build a fully fleshed-out music venue in a warehouse. \n \n1720 was no overnight project. Rehabbing the warehouse took well over a year\, with the trio slowly clearing the predictable hurdles of “construction and permitting [and] making sure everything was really legit\,” Richter says. “We all grew up with parents who owned businesses\, so we had shoulders to lean on and ask questions. But we’ve been to so many events and thrown concerts and done headline tours\, so the rigmarole of running a venue is second nature to us. But learning about construction and code compliance was all new. And you have to really stay on it and the codes are constantly updating\, so it’s a lot of work for the operational side.” \n \nUnlike many traditional music venues\, 1720 can change personalities according to whether it is being used for a party or for live music. \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://1720.la/\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:Borrow A Chromebook & Hotspot
DESCRIPTION:3 WEEK CHROMEBOOK & HOTSPOT LOANS- Los Angeles County Libraries\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBorrow a Chromebook and Wi-Fi hotspot to access the internet.\n\n\nYou can now checkout a Google Chromebook and Wireless Hotspot for 3 weeks\, from any Los Angeles County Library Sidewalk Service FREE! Do you know anyone without internet or a computer at home who would benefit from borrowing them—to apply for jobs\, access homeschooling resources\, or simply stay connected to information? \nYou can now check out a kit with a Chromebook and wireless hotspot to access the internet (plus chargers) inside a handy carrying case\, from any Sidewalk Service location. \nPlease call any Sidewalk Service location to place a hold on a Laptop & Hotspot Loan Kit. Borrow for 3 weeks\, with the option to renew\, if available. \nPlease note: Laptop & Hotspot Loan Kits require a full access card to check out. Call your nearest Sidewalk Service location for details about signing up or upgrading your digital card. \nFunding for this project has been provided by the Coronavirus Aid\, Relief\, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1. Who can check out a Chromebook kit?\nAdults with a standard adult library card in good standing will be able to check out a Chromebook kit at a participating library.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2. How do I check out a Chromebook kit?\nRequests for Chromebook kits can be made using our online catalog or over the phone\, like any of our other materials. At this time requests are site-specific and can only be placed at libraries offering the service (listed above). Call a library offering the service to arrange a same-day checkout\, if kits are available.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. When can I pick up my Laptop & Hotspot?\nCall the owning library and arrange to pick up your kit during Sidewalk Service hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. How long can I keep the Laptop & Hotspot Loan? Can I renew?\nThe kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks. If no other customers are on the waiting list\, the checkout can be renewed up to 3 times. The renewal needs to be made before your checkout period ends.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. How do I return the Chromebook Kit?\nChromebooks must be returned in person to the owning library during Sidewalk Service hours. They cannot be returned in the bookdrop. They cannot be returned to any library other than the one where the kit was checked out. Please call the owning library to arrange a drop-off time and call again once at the library to alert staff. Staff will bring out a box labeled Laptop Return to the Sidewalk Service table. You’ll be instructed to remove all items – the Chromebook\, the wireless hotspot\, and both charging cables – from the carrying case. Put the case into the box first\, on the bottom\, and then put all other items in on top. Staff will check the box to make sure all items are inside and that they look fine. All items will be quarantined for 4 days and confirmed to be working properly before being checked in. Staff will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please remember that the loan will still show on your account until the quarantine and check-in process is complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Are there late fees?\nLate fees will be assessed the same as all other library materials. The Chromebook will become disabled once the loan period has ended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7. Will my documents stay on the Chromebook after I return it?\nAll documents are deleted once the Chromebook is shut down. This will happen even during your 3-week checkout period\, so we advise you to back up your documents on a flash drive or in Google Docs if you are working on something you want to keep.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9. What programs will be included on the Chromebook?\n\n\nAdobe Acrobat Reader\nDocuSign\nGoogle Calendar\nGoogle Drive/Docs\nSkype\nWordPress\nInternet\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n10. At the time\, Los Angeles was the country’s tenth-most-populous city—and downtown was the epicenter of a flourishing metropolis. \nToday\, the Market’s 40 stalls are home to an only-in-LA blend of legacy vendors like China Cafe and Roast To Go (Grand Central Market tenants for over half a century)\, rising stars\, and success stories from the city’s buzzing food scene. We feel lucky to be woven into the founding fabric that makes this city shine and steal hearts—inspiring people from all over the world to come\, see\, explore\, and discover. SUMMARY:Net Cruze Coffee and Cars
DESCRIPTION:Net Cruze Cars And Coffee- Westchester\, California\nNet Cruze Cars And Coffee events have been going for decades.  And that was news to me upon my first stop in mid-August. \nBut they’re in a new location.  And it’s kind of tricky in that it’s a huge parking lot behind the 99-cents store in Westchester.  Further\, this is a cool event worth checking out for sure. \nSo cars from the ’30s through ’50s are pretty well represented.  And that’s both originals and customs.  Then\, when I was there\, there was a Corvette Club represented too.  All newer C7s but nicely done as well. \nBut everyone and everything is welcome.  For instance\, there was an older Bronco\, a newer Porsche\, and even a Studebaker on hand. \nAdditionally\, the organizers offered coffee and pastries.  Plus a raffle drawing toward the end that kept everyone on hand for cash prizes\, gas cards\, and even handbags for the ladies. \n\n \n1939 Buick \n\nNet Cruze Cars And Coffee – Westchester\, California\nLocation: 6835 La Tijera Blvd.\nAdmission: Free\nVehicle registration: Free \n  \nHours\n2nd and 4th Saturdays: 9:00am – 12:00pm \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.idrivesocal.com\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:The Venice Run Club
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEEK\, EVERY RUN\, EVERY BODY- Santa Monica & Venice\nThe Venice Run Club is the heartbeat of Venice. A community of runners here to better ourselves and our community. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. Venice Run Club was born. \nNearly two years later\, we have grown into a strong group of 200+ runners\, given back $100\,000 and over 1\,100lbs of clothing to the LA community\, guided over 40 runners to completing their first marathon\, and become On’s first-ever sponsored run club in America. \nCome make friends\, break a sweat\, and get to know the city in the best way possible: by running its streets. \n\n\n\n  \n\nWeekly Run Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nTrack Tuesday- 7:30PM\n\nSanta Monica High School- 601 Pico Blvd\, Santa Monica\, CA 90405 \n\n\n\n\n\nMobbin Wednesday- 6:30 pm\n\nParking lot – 2050 Dell Avenue\, Venice\, CA\, 90291 \n\n\n\n\n\nLong Run Saturday- 8:30 am\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://venicerunclub.co/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

By the end of the 80s\, our Museum was formally organized under the State of California as a not-for-profit public benefit corporation. \nThe Association acquired\, and still maintains\, a space in the LACo Fire Department Headquarters in Los Angeles\, storage units at the Department’s Air facility in Pacoima\, and a large warehouse in South Gate. Around the year 2000\, the Association rented an old auto repair shop from the city of Bellflower\, CA. This facility became the first public face for the Association and allowed us to open to the public for the first time. \nIn July of 2018\, the City of Bellflower became a partner with the Association. The showcase Museum is located on the bottom floor of Bellflower’s MAYNE EVENTS CENTER. The auto body repair building was purchased by The Association the same year and now houses the Los Angeles County Fire Museum’s “The Shop”\, the place where all the hard restoration work is now performed. \nMISSION STATEMENT\n\nCelebrate the history of the American Fire Service and the contributions made to that history by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.\nDocument and present the evolution\, history\, and impact of fire-based Emergency Medical Services.\nAcquire\, preserve\, and present artifacts\, apparatus\, photographs\, and documents\, along with other materials\, which assist in the presentation of our history.\nRestore antique fire apparatus to accurately reflect their respective histories.\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.lacountyfiremuseum.com/visit-us\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
