This 300m course will provide the most spectacular racing imaginable\, and the view from the Pier will be unparalleled in terms of sports entertainment. There will also be amateur\, open sprint racing for all non-professional attendees. \n \nThe Pier-to-Pier Distance Race will provide an iconic and high-performance course for the World’s Best\, leaving from Malibu Pier and finishing at Santa Monica Pier\, a 16km/ 10-mile race. It will be particularly poignant given the significance of this stretch of coastline in history as the regular commute that California’s first Surfer of African American and Latino descent made from Santa Monica to surf up at the famed waves found in Malibu. Pluto TV launched in 2014 and picked up steam fairly quickly making it the largest free TV streaming service in the U.S. \nYou’re not going to find standard TV channels\, though some are represented via their web counterparts\, especially news outlets. Those include familiar names like Bloomberg\, Cheddar\, CNBC\, MSNBC\, CBSN\, and many others. As of April 2019\, it also includes CNN\, though not the full\, live CNN you get on cable. Instead\, the CNN channel features a curated playlist of short-form digital content from CNN’s anchors and reporters. Featured clips are oriented toward lifestyle and culture\, climate change\, the environment\, and original CNN investigations and interviews. A similar channel for NBC called NBC News Now arrived in February 2020. Other recent additions to Pluto include CMT\, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud\, and Red Bull TV\, plus a handful of new themed channels in Celebrity\, Reality\, and Lives\, the perfect cocktail for pop culture and reality TV enthusiasts. \nSports coverage is less conventional — you’re not going to find the likes of ESPN here. Instead\, you’ll find choices like Fight\, World Poker Tour\, Impact Wrestling\, a dedicated Sports News network\, Glory Kickboxing\, and the Big Sky Network. DAZN recently signed a deal to provide an original weekly series on Pluto TV\, and there’s potential for that partnership to expand down the line. Pluto has recently added an official PGA Tour channel with 24/7 coverage of one of golf’s biggest tournaments. \nIn the Entertainment section\, there are reruns of reality and documentary shows alongside episodes of Dennis the Menace\, Thunderbirds\, and other older TV shows. Among those various channels\, you’ll also find Wipeout\, a network that only shows reruns of the popular game show and various iterations from different countries\, as well as Nosey\, which shows reruns of The Jerry Springer Show and The Maury Show\, among others. DESCRIPTION:3 WEEK CHROMEBOOK & HOTSPOT LOANS- Los Angeles County Libraries\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBorrow a Chromebook and Wi-Fi hotspot to access the internet.\n\n\nYou can now checkout a Google Chromebook and Wireless Hotspot for 3 weeks\, from any Los Angeles County Library Sidewalk Service FREE! Do you know anyone without internet or a computer at home who would benefit from borrowing them—to apply for jobs\, access homeschooling resources\, or simply stay connected to information? \nYou can now check out a kit with a Chromebook and wireless hotspot to access the internet (plus chargers) inside a handy carrying case\, from any Sidewalk Service location. \nPlease call any Sidewalk Service location to place a hold on a Laptop & Hotspot Loan Kit. Borrow for 3 weeks\, with the option to renew\, if available. \nPlease note: Laptop & Hotspot Loan Kits require a full access card to check out. Who can check out a Chromebook kit?\nAdults with a standard adult library card in good standing will be able to check out a Chromebook kit at a participating library.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2. How do I check out a Chromebook kit?\nRequests for Chromebook kits can be made using our online catalog or over the phone\, like any of our other materials. At this time requests are site-specific and can only be placed at libraries offering the service (listed above). Call a library offering the service to arrange a same-day checkout\, if kits are available.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. When can I pick up my Laptop & Hotspot?\nCall the owning library and arrange to pick up your kit during Sidewalk Service hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. How long can I keep the Laptop & Hotspot Loan? Can I renew?\nThe kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks. If no other customers are on the waiting list\, the checkout can be renewed up to 3 times. The renewal needs to be made before your checkout period ends.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. How do I return the Chromebook Kit?\nChromebooks must be returned in person to the owning library during Sidewalk Service hours. They cannot be returned in the bookdrop. They cannot be returned to any library other than the one where the kit was checked out. Please call the owning library to arrange a drop-off time and call again once at the library to alert staff. Staff will bring out a box labeled Laptop Return to the Sidewalk Service table. You’ll be instructed to remove all items – the Chromebook\, the wireless hotspot\, and both charging cables – from the carrying case. Put the case into the box first\, on the bottom\, and then put all other items in on top. Staff will check the box to make sure all items are inside and that they look fine. All items will be quarantined for 4 days and confirmed to be working properly before being checked in. Staff will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please remember that the loan will still show on your account until the quarantine and check-in process is complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Are there late fees?\nLate fees will be assessed the same as all other library materials. The Chromebook will become disabled once the loan period has ended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7. Will I be charged if the Chromebook is damaged while in my possession? How much?\nYes\, fees will depend on the type of damage.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8. Will my documents stay on the Chromebook after I return it?\nAll documents are deleted once the Chromebook is shut down. This will happen even during your 3-week checkout period\, so we advise you to back up your documents on a flash drive or in Google Docs if you are working on something you want to keep.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9. What programs will be included on the Chromebook?\n\n\nAdobe Acrobat Reader\nDocuSign\nGoogle Calendar\nGoogle Drive/Docs\nSkype\nWordPress\nInternet\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n10. Does the Chromebook include the internet?\nA wireless hotspot device is included when you check out the Chromebook. This will give you access to the internet.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n11. I don’t have a printer. Can I print things through the library?\nYes\, you can use our Wi-Fi printing service on the borrowed Chromebook and send your documents wirelessly to any library that offers Sidewalk Service.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n12. Will library staff provide an orientation on the technology when I check it out?\nA basic instruction sheet will be provided explaining how to turn on and connect the equipment. If you have further questions\, please call your local library.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n13. I am not good with computers. Will Library staff help me use the Chromebook or answer technical questions?\nLibrary staff is able to provide basic help with your computer—like how to turn it on\, connect the wireless hotspot\, or how to locate programs. For help\, please call your local library.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReceive immediate\, unlimited\, and free access to LA County Library’s online resources\,\nincluding eBooks and audiobooks\, movie and TV streaming\, and music downloads. Your Digital Library Card also gives you the ability to place holds and check out 3 physical items from the library at a time. Digital Cards cannot check out a Laptop & Hotspot Loan kit. You may call any Sidewalk Service location and schedule an appointment to get a full access card\, or upgrade an existing Digital Library Card. The Digital Library Card is available to residents of Los Angeles County\, ages 18 and over. If you already have a regular full-access library card\, you do not need to sign up for a Digital Library Card.
