Thanks to this crazy new bar in Winnetka\, CA and our buddy the bartender\, we were introduced to new styles of beer that were much different than the commercial brands we were used to. After many conversations on the process of making beer and the brewing techniques of smaller breweries\, we decided to take a chance at brewing our own malted\, adult beverages! We signed up for a Maltose Falcons class\, bought a brewing kit and a turkey fryer and made a batch of beer on June 23\, 2012. After this first batch\, we were hooked! We invested more time in learning about the process\, fabricated custom brewing equipment and experimented with new recipes while tweaking them to make them our own. After serving samples of our homemade brews and getting positive feedback\, we began talking of doing it legit and opening up a brewery!  Given our Valley roots and the fact our beer was brewed out of a garage in Sylmar\, CA\, we decided 818 Brewing was the perfect name and we filed our paperwork in October 2014 for our new venture. \nWhat we’ve enjoyed the most along our journey is the sense of community within the craft brew scene. Not many products can bring people together of different nationalities\, age groups\, religious beliefs\, income levels\, political views – and even fellow brewers! – And create a moment of common ground.  8 one 8 Brewing is proud to offer a product that brings us together to say cheers! \n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \neventbrite.com/e/brewery-bike-ride\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:The Broad Museum- DTLA
DESCRIPTION:FREE TUE – SUN- Bunker Hill\, DTLA\nThe Broad makes its collection of contemporary art from the 1950s to the present accessible to the widest possible audience by presenting exhibitions and operating a lending program to art museums and galleries worldwide. \nBy actively building a dynamic collection that features in-depth representations of influential contemporary artists and by advancing education and engagement through exhibitions and diverse public programming\, the museum enriches\, provokes\, inspires\, and fosters appreciation of art of our time. \n \nThe Broad was founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler\, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to 2\,000 works of art in the Broad collection\, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. \n  \n \nThe Broad from Home\nThe Broad is committed to inspiring and fostering an appreciation of contemporary art through our digital initiatives. Experience #TheBroadFromHome to find inspiration through music\, poetry\, performance\, workshops\, and conversations centered around the Broad collection. \nOverview \nPerformances \nTalks & Conversations \nArtist Spotlight \nFamily Art Workshops \nMore Online Programs \n  \nThe Broad Collection\nEli and Edythe Broad have been building their collection of postwar and contemporary art over the last 50 years. With a belief that the greatest art collections are built when the art is being made\, the Broads took to collecting art of their own time. \nThe Broad is home to 2\,000 works in the Broad collection by more than 200 artists\, and is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. The collection features in-depth holdings of influential contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat\, Mark Bradford\, Jasper Johns\, Jeff Koons\, Barbara Kruger\, Yayoi Kusama\, Kerry James Marshall\, Julie Mehretu\, Takashi Murakami\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, Cindy Sherman\, Cy Twombly\, Andy Warhol\, and more\, plus an ever-growing representation of younger artists. \n  \nView Our Collection Here\n \nIn Under the Table\, 1994\, the viewer is both in the world of imaginary giants and in the world of remembered childhood. Fusing Alice in Wonderland with the Duchampian tradition of the readymade\, Artist Robert Therrien constructs a doppelganger from an everyday object\, both displaying his visual wit and actualizing literary or imaginative fantasy in three-dimensional space. The table exudes an extraordinary aura\, compelling one to walk underneath the table and conjuring the physical memory of being under the table of one’s childhood home. Complicated and powerful\, the work offers fresh ideas of what a table\, sculpture\, and memory can mean. \n  \n  \n \nUsing the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog\, Koons has frozen a moment in time\, exaggerating both scale and material. \nBalloon Dog (Blue) is literal and abstract. When standing close to it\, one’s own distorted reflection bends around smooth pert curves. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission is Free\nThe Broad requires all visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance. Some exhibitions and events carry a separate charge. \n\n\n\n\n\nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Wednesday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.\nThursday – Friday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.\nSaturday: 10:00 a.m.-8:00p.m.\nSunday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00p.m. \n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.thebroad.org\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:Pluto TV
DESCRIPTION:IT’S FREE TV! App or Online\nWhat is Pluto TV? Well let’s see. We could pen a historical essay about our 2013 origins. \n \nWe could toss around numbers like 100s of channels\, 200+ content partners\, and 26+ million viewers. We could even drone on about our huge library of on-demand content which spans across all genres of movies\, news\, TV shows\, sports\, documentaries\, and blah blah blahhh… \nBut why complicate things when Pluto TV is\, at its core\, really simple? \nAll you really need to know is… it’s free of passwords\, it’s free of payments\, and it’s free of all those Friday night spats about what to watch. \nPluto TV is a free live-stream television and on-demand video service from ViacomCBS. \n  \n\n\n\nSo just lean back. Drop in and enjoy the show. It’s free.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat will I Find on Pluto TV?\n\n\nLIVE TV\n\n\n\n\nBlockbuster Movies\n \nComedy\n \nCult Classics\n \n\nKids & Family Friendly Programing \n\n\nSports\n \nNews\n\n\nLatino\n \n\n\nWatch on your \nSmart TV\, Streaming Devices\, Mobile App\, Desktop App or Watch On The Web\n\n\n \n\nOwned by ViacomCBS\, Pluto TV is a live-TV streaming service\, not entirely unlike Sling TV and such competitors as DirecTV Now\, Hulu+ Live TV\, or other similar services. But unlike those services which offer streaming access to channels you’d find on cable TV\, Pluto TV offers free content mainly curated from what’s already available online. Pluto TV launched in 2014 and picked up steam fairly quickly making it the largest free TV streaming service in the U.S. \nYou’re not going to find standard TV channels\, though some are represented via their web counterparts\, especially news outlets. Those include familiar names like Bloomberg\, Cheddar\, CNBC\, MSNBC\, CBSN\, and many others. As of April 2019\, it also includes CNN\, though not the full\, live CNN you get on cable. Instead\, the CNN channel features a curated playlist of short-form digital content from CNN’s anchors and reporters. Featured clips are oriented toward lifestyle and culture\, climate change\, the environment\, and original CNN investigations and interviews. A similar channel for NBC called NBC News Now arrived in February 2020. Other recent additions to Pluto include CMT\, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud\, and Red Bull TV\, plus a handful of new themed channels in Celebrity\, Reality\, and Lives\, the perfect cocktail for pop culture and reality TV enthusiasts. \nSports coverage is less conventional — you’re not going to find the likes of ESPN here. Instead\, you’ll find choices like Fight\, World Poker Tour\, Impact Wrestling\, a dedicated Sports News network\, Glory Kickboxing\, and the Big Sky Network. DAZN recently signed a deal to provide an original weekly series on Pluto TV\, and there’s potential for that partnership to expand down the line. Pluto has recently added an official PGA Tour channel with 24/7 coverage of one of golf’s biggest tournaments. \nIn the Entertainment section\, there are reruns of reality and documentary shows alongside episodes of Dennis the Menace\, Thunderbirds\, and other older TV shows. Among those various channels\, you’ll also find Wipeout\, a network that only shows reruns of the popular game show and various iterations from different countries\, as well as Nosey\, which shows reruns of The Jerry Springer Show and The Maury Show\, among others. Meanwhile\, the Curiosity section features Science TV\, Docu TV\, Xive TV\, and even a NASA live stream. New additions include Pluto TV Sitcoms\, offering a selection of older comedies like 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Lucy Show\, and a Spanish-language channel called Pluto TV Cine. \n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the Pluto TV website @ \npluto.tv\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:DIRTY MONDAYS LA
DESCRIPTION:EVERY MONDAY – Madame Siam\nThe Most INSANE rock n roll party in LA! Every Monday at Madame Siam in Hollywood. 10pm – 2am. NO COVER. Free shots with RSVP! \nFlashback\, we’re in 2011 when four guys end up together in Milan. They have experienced some of the world’s most exciting scenes from Europe to the USA. They have fostered their love for good music and they have realized that Milan is lacking something: a real rock and roll night where rock is king. They desperately feel the need for a Monday night out that could start the week off with a bang! Or extend the weekend\, which is always too short\, depending on your point of view. \nTo these guys making a combo of the two needs come naturally. The final result is a delightfully fatal mix of explosive sounds that reaches the full rock spectrum: from classics like The Kinks to the furious Sex Pistols punk\, reaching the Beach Boys surf rock and completing the circle with the nostalgic psychedelia of Led Zeppelin\, Pink Floyd with a final Modern chaser of Temples and Tame Impala. A full recipe designed to endear the most demanding ears and unleash even the less discerning ones. \nThe Dirty Mondays founders are also recognized for creating their own denim jackets available to the crew and a few close friends. Maybe you’ve seen them\, they stand out in the crowd. \n \n\n \n1723 N Hudson Ave Los Angeles\, CA 90028 \nMadame Siam is an underground hotspot with plenty of space for dancing\, drinking and enjoying the whimsical circus-themed decor while a live DJ plays open format music. Carnival games\, a candy store and a house psychic are just a few of the draws for patrons to come and have a unique Hollywood experience. \n \n \n \n \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \ndirtymondays.com\n \n  \nFind more

Sunset Blvd West Hollywood\, CA 90069 \nAs long as there has been a Los Angeles rock scene\, there has been the Whisky A Go-Go. An anchor on the Sunset Strip since its opening in 1964\, the Whisky A Go-Go has played host to rock ‘n’ roll’s most important bands\, from the Doors\, Janis Joplin\, and Led Zeppelin to today’s up-and-coming new artists. \n \nOn January 16\, 1964\, a small club on the Sunset Strip opened its doors for the first time.\n\nIt was The Whisky a Go Go\, the first-ever live music venue to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the most iconic club on the Strip. Founded by Mario Maglieri\, Elmer Valentine\, and Phil Tanzini – The Whisky had to spell its name without the ‘e’ in whiskey because Los Angeles city zoning laws didn’t allow any club to be named after alcohols (The Whisky constantly had problems with the city and for a while had the name “The Whisk?”). The world-famous Whisky a Go Go opened on Jan. 15\, 1964\, with a concert by Johnny Rivers. \nA DJ named Joanie Labine (the first DJ at The Whisky) played records in a booth that was suspended to the right of the stage in between Johnny Rivers’ sets. Labine entertained the crowd by dancing and the idea of the go-go dancer was born. Very soon a ‘costume’ of the go-go dancers also emerged: a girl wearing a short\, fringed skirt and high\, white boots: a trend that will spread to all discotheques and nightclubs all across the country. \nAnd the rest is history… \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.eventbrite.com/e/fast-times-monday-night\n \n  \nFind more

They intend to continue to collaborate with more breweries in the future. \nDuring their many visits to Belgium\, along with numerous trips around the country\, they previewed many beer shops and were impressed with the large variety of beer selections offered. They knew they had the experience and passion for creating something similar at home. \nBillie and Joey now bring this love\, knowledge\, and expertise to bring you “BREWS BROTHERS” \nHOURS\nMonday – Thursday: 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm\nFriday – Saturday: 12:00 pm – 12:00 am\nSunday: 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.brewsbrotherscraftbeer.com/the-brewery\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Milk Crate Mondays
DESCRIPTION:EVERY MONDAY- Chinatown\nVinyl Dance Party every Monday at Melody Lounge! All Vinyl. All Night. All Vibes.\nHip Hop | R&B | Soul | Funk | Classics \nNeedle Drops at 9:00 PM\nResident DJs: DP SOUND CREW \n  \n \n\n \nChinatown\, 939 N Hill St.\, Los Angeles\, CA 90012 \n \nThere’s something to be said for inner beauty. Yes\, even when it comes down to the interior of a small and unassuming drinkery in the middle of Chinatown\, it truly is what’s on the inside that counts. Melody Lounge\, located off of N Hill Street\, right off the 110\, and within walking distance of Dodger Stadium\, invites you in with a modest\, yet charming exterior. A quiet entryway welcomes you through the door into a low-key hideaway ridden with an array of superb cocktails and a collection of craft beers that will make your head spin. \n \nOnce you enter Melody Lounge\, you will find yourself within a cozy nook illuminated by red lanterns\, giving off an alluring crimson hue to the place. A vinyl record is usually spinning\, playing just loud enough to not have to yell over while you’re chatting with your bartender. With typically\, a moderately laid-back atmosphere\, on rowdier nights like Sundays when they feature karaoke from 9:30 to close\, the room fills up quickly and the good times roll. \n \nReaching its five-year anniversary in March\, Melody Lounge started solely as a craft beer bar and received its full liquor license just over one year ago\, allowing them to accumulate quite the range of spirits to coincide with its diverse gallery of craft brews. \n“We still have a big focus on craft beer\, which is where our roots are\, but we just wanted to take the next step\, upgrade\, and tailor a cocktail menu\,” says general manager Eric Bouvet. “We do all 32 classics at any given time\, and we also have a small list of signature cocktails. We try to keep it simple\, offer good cocktails.” \n \nMelody Lounge and its multiple sister bars including The Short Stop in Echo Park and Footsies in Cypress Park\, typically fall under the same theme of slight preservation. As they each display a low-key appearance from the exterior\, upon entering\, you will find that there is so much more than what initially meets the eye. \n\nHours\nSunday – Friday: 5:00pm – 2:00am\nSaturday: 2:00pm – 2:00am\n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.facebook.com/melodyloungeLA\n \n  \nFind more

The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich\, and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career. The band’s fast tempos\, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding “big four” bands of thrash metal\, alongside Megadeth\, Anthrax and Slayer. Metallica’s current lineup comprises founding members and primary songwriters Hetfield and Ulrich\, longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo. Guitarist Dave Mustaine (who went on to form Megadeth after being fired from the band) and bassists Ron McGovney\, Cliff Burton (who died in a bus accident in Sweden in 1986) and Jason Newsted are former members of the band. \n  \n \nMetallica earned a growing fan base in the underground music community and won critical acclaim with its first five albums. The band’s third album\, Master of Puppets (1986)\, was described as one of the heaviest and most influential thrash metal albums. Its eponymous fifth album\, Metallica (1991)\, the band’s first to root predominantly in heavy metal\, appealed to a more mainstream audience\, achieving substantial commercial success and selling over 16 million copies in the United States to date\, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. \nMetallica\, like most of the music industry right now\, is off the road. SUMMARY:LEGO BUILDERS AT THE INGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY
DESCRIPTION:EVERY MONDAY – INGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY\nDesign. Construct. Create. The best way to foster your child’s creativity is by providing them with the tools to build their own world and let their imagination soar. Join us at Inglewood Public Library – Children’s Services\, every Monday from 4 pm – 5 pm. The Lego Bricks is specially designed for children to build\, learn and create exciting play experiences. This will help develop your child’s imagination and love of building! \n\n\nTHE LEGO BRAND VALUES\nImagination\nFree play is how children develop their imagination – the foundation for creativity. Curiosity asks WHY and imagines possible explanations. Playfulness asks WHAT IF and imagines how the ordinary becomes extraordinary fantasy or fiction. Dreaming is the first step toward doing it.\n\nCreativity\nCreativity is the ability to come up with ideas that are new\, surprising\, and valuable – and it’s an essential 21st-century skill. Systematic creativity is a particular form of creativity that combines logic and reasoning with playfulness and imagination.\n\n\nFun\nFun is being active together\, the thrill of an adventure\, the joyful enthusiasm of children\, and the delight in surprising both yourself and others in what you can do or create. Fun is the happiness we experience when we are fully engaged in something that requires mastery when our abilities are in balance with the challenge at hand and we are making progress towards a goal.\n\nLearning\nLearning is about being curious\, experimenting\, and collaborating – expanding our thinking and doing\, helping us develop new insights and new skills. We learn through play by putting things together\, taking them apart\, and putting them together in different ways. Building\, un-building\, rebuilding\, thereby creating new things and developing new ways of thinking about ourselves\, and the world.\n\nCaring\nCaring is about our desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children\, our colleagues\, our partners\, and the world we live in. Doing that little extra\, not because we have to – but because it feels right and because we care.\n\nQuality\nFor us\, quality means the challenge of continuous improvement to provide the best play material\, the best for children and their development\, and the best to our community and partners. From a reputation for manufacturing excellence to becoming trusted by all – we believe in quality that speaks for itself and earns us the recommendation of all.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT INGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY \nLIBRARY MISSION\nThe mission of the Inglewood Public Library is to provide access to informational\, educational\, and recreational services and resources responsive to the library’s diverse communities. \nMAIN LIBRARY\n \n\n101 W. SUMMARY:HOKALI Beach Cleanup Day
DESCRIPTION:EVERY 2nd of the MONTH- Venice Beach \nBeach Cleanup by HOKALI Surf Lessons at Venice Beach 1800 Ocean Front Walk\, Venice\, CA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCalling All Venice Beach Surf Community. All the HOKALI Community of surfers will be cleaning the beaches together\, on the second day of every month!! “What day is that man?”\, you may ask. Ahh\, that’s an easy one Dude! It’s the Second Day. \nHOKALI is announcing guidelines for individuals to conduct solo beach clean ups as long as local governing bodies allow for public beach access. A solo cleanup is defined as an individual cleanup by one person or household unit\, not necessarily organized by the chapter\, but promoted as an activity for the public. \nThe following requirements are outlined to assist in evaluating your ability to conduct a solo beach cleanup. \n\nYour state and local governing agency allows access to the beach;\n\n\nActive use of the beach is allowed under applicable laws (e.g. walking included);\n\n\nAdditional restrictions on active beach use are followed\, e.g.\, open and closing times\n\n\nBeaches are not so crowded that active users can maintain a safe physical distance of 6 feet\n\nParticipation in a solo cleanup event is voluntary and solely at a participant’s own risk\, including risk associated with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Individuals should only participate to the extent that they can comply with applicable federal\, state\, and local rules and restrictions\, and the below required practices including physical distancing. \nThe following rules must be followed to ensure individuals are equipped to make an educated\, safe and mindful decision to conduct a solo cleanup while following CDC public health guidance\, local beach access restrictions\, and EPA recommendations for properly discarding used PPE items. \nBe responsible! If you are feeling sick or generally unwell\, please stay indoors and heal. \n  \n \n  \nParticipate in a Raffle: Send us your photo or uploaded the picture to social media with #hokalichallenge and tag @hokali.co and participate for a FREE SURFING LESSON + HOKALI HAT. \nWhere to find US: Look for the HOKALI Flag at the beach. Our coach Paislee will be there waiting for you :). His contact information is: +8188237711 \nWhat to bring: mask/cloth face covering\, gloves\, 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer\, grabbers (if you have them)\, 2 separate collection receptacles. \nCheck with your local authority on beach use and access restrictions. Select a location where you can maintain a minimum physical distance of 6 feet. Avoid crowded areas at crowded times. \nWear a mask or cloth face covering when in public per CDC recommendations. \nWear gloves. We cannot stress this safety precaution enough. Viruses can live on hard surfaces\, and individuals should exercise extreme caution when collecting litter. Wearing gloves discourages you from touching your face or face covering. If using reusable gloves\, be sure to properly sanitize between uses. Effective sanitization of a reusable glove depends on the material. Individuals should comply with CDC and EPA guidance on how to effectively sanitize reusable items against COVID-19. \nGrabbers are a good way to minimize contact between your gloves and trash items. Sanitize these after use and before transport or storage. \nRefrain from touching your face or public surfaces during the cleanup. \nRemember to use hand sanitizer after the cleanup is over\, then wash your hands with soap and hot water for 20 seconds as soon as you’re able to do so. \nRemember to properly disinfect all reusable equipment before and after the cleanup using an EPA-approved product for use against SARS-CoV-2\, the virus that causes COVID-19. \nFor more information check out Surf Lessons website: www.hokali.co \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHours\nEvery 2nd of the Month: 12:00pm – 1:30pm \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \neventbrite.com/e/hokali-beach-cleanup-day-venice\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
