Chace Park offers multi-purpose rooms\, picnic tables\, barbecues\, pergolas\, picnic shelters\, outdoor programs\, great harbor viewing areas\, guest docks\, and is host to numerous year-round events. Admission is free. \n \nThe Marina del Rey Water Bus offers rides around the Marina for $1.00. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own. \n  \n \nBook-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce. \nAt the Little Free Library nonprofit\, we’re working to fill book deserts and place libraries where they can make a big impact through our Impact Library Program. We’ve donated more than 1\,000 libraries through this program to-date. \n  \n \n  \nThe Los Angeles area is already home to almost 75 such libraries; use the Little Free Library map to find exact addresses for boxes in Hollywood\, Culver City\, Westchester\, Marina Del Rey\, Burbank\, and beyond. DESCRIPTION:FREE BOOK EXCHANGE BOXES Various Location around LA\nThrough Little Free Library book exchanges\, millions of books are exchanged each year\, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds. \n  \n \n  \n  \nWhy Does Book Access Matter?\nAcademically\, children growing up in homes without books are on average three years behind children in homes with lots of books\, even when controlled for other key factors. One of the most successful ways to improve the reading achievement of children is to increase their access to books\, especially at home. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own. \n  \n \nBook-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce. \nAt the Little Free Library nonprofit\, we’re working to fill book deserts and place libraries where they can make a big impact through our Impact Library Program. We’ve donated more than 1\,000 libraries through this program to-date. \n  \n \n  \nThe Los Angeles area is already home to almost 75 such libraries; use the Little Free Library map to find exact addresses for boxes in Hollywood\, Culver City\, Westchester\, Marina Del Rey\, Burbank\, and beyond. DESCRIPTION:Yoga with Jessica\n\n\n\nJessica’s classes are tailored to what the students need. She loves creating sequences (and playlists) that feel good in the body\, create balance\, strength and ease but love first and foremost hearing what areas students need to send a little extra love and attention to and build on that. Jessica’s favorite kind of practice is where hatha meets vinyasa\, long holds and alignment focused classes meet the fluidity of breath\, movement and fire. Jessica also incorporates meditation and some light breath work which I found immensely nourishing especially in these times. \nJessica’s Background~ \nWith a background in dance and field hockey\, I combine my passion for movement and strength through invigorating sequences. Most recently\, I have been passionate about fluidity and transitions – stepping out of ‘doing’ and into ‘being’. \nI began practicing yoga 12 years ago while living in England and found that yoga helped me stay grounded and mindful in the midst of change. I am most excited to help others cultivate a practice where they can find what they most need in the current moment whether it’s to calm the mind\, energize the body\, embrace community\, embrace themselves or just laugh a little. \nWhen I am not practicing yoga\, I can be found designing\, in a cafe catching up with friends\, or exploring a new part of the city or a new country. DESCRIPTION:THE HISTORIC VENICE CANALS DISTRICT- in Venice Beach\nThe Venice Canals is a historical district in the Venice section of Los Angeles\, California. Nestled between Abbot Kinney Blvd and the Beach\, this area is the location of the last remaining canals which once were the heart of Venice Beach\, California. \n  \nTo find The Historic Venice Canals District \nStart at the Venice Pier. Walk down Washington Blvd\, 1 block past Pacific to the north side bridge\, just before Baja Cantina. You’l find entrances to the walk paths on both sides of the canal. \n  \nAbbot Kinney\nThe Venice Canals began as a dream of one man\, tobacco millionaire\, Abbot Kinney. Kinney had done a walking tour of Italy and was absolutely overcome by the beauty of the canals of Venice. That experience lead Kinney to the grand idea\, to take part of the Coastal Wetlands of Los Angeles\, and turn them  into what he called “Venice of America\,” a luxurious seaside resort that brought a taste of Italy to L. A. \n  \n \nIn 1905 the canals opened to the public and at first\, these canals were all the rage\, a cultural mecca and massive playground complete Amusements\, train rides and every kind of distraction. Beautiful walkways were lined with flowers. Gondoliers took lovers on romantic adventures through the canals and beneath the  beautifully lit bridges. But invention of the automobile\, and the discovery of oil along the coast\, quickly led the City of Los Angeles to fill in most of the canals and build city streets. Although a few of the canals were spared\, Abbot Kinney’s dream soon deteriorated and began attracting crime. \n  \n \nFinally\, after more than 40 years of unsavory residents\, and environmental concerns\, in 1992\, the City restored the canals to their original spender\, and since\, Venice has  become a safe haven of artists of all kinds and everyone and anyone was welcome\, Anyone who could afford it\, that is.   Average home sales are now in the 3-10 million dollar range. \nAlthough\, much of Venice is gone\, much still remains.
