SUMMARY:LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
DESCRIPTION:FREE BOOK EXCHANGE BOXES Various Location around LA\nThrough Little Free Library book exchanges\, millions of books are exchanged each year\, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds. \n  \n \n  \n  \nWhy Does Book Access Matter?\nAcademically\, children growing up in homes without books are on average three years behind children in homes with lots of books\, even when controlled for other key factors. One of the most successful ways to improve the reading achievement of children is to increase their access to books\, especially at home. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own. \n  \n \nBook-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce. \nAt the Little Free Library nonprofit\, we’re working to fill book deserts and place libraries where they can make a big impact through our Impact Library Program. We’ve donated more than 1\,000 libraries through this program to-date. \n  \n \n  \nThe Los Angeles area is already home to almost 75 such libraries; use the Little Free Library map to find exact addresses for boxes in Hollywood\, Culver City\, Westchester\, Marina Del Rey\, Burbank\, and beyond. More locations will certainly be springing up soon. \n  \n \n  \nOur staff is dedicated to increasing book access and forging community connections.  Watch the adjacent video to get a 30-second introduction to learn how you can start one\, too! \n  \n \n  \n  \nWe provide ongoing support to Little Free Library volunteer stewards\, offering free library-building instructions\, an online store with pre-built library models and kits\, access to free or discounted books\, and an e-newsletter full of ideas and advice. Our Action Book Club\, which combines reading with community service\, is open to all. \n  \n  \n \n  \nWe also maintain a world map of registered Little Free Library boxes to help people find and share books wherever they are\, and we have donated more than 1\,000 Little Free Library book exchanges (and counting!) to communities where books are scarce through our Impact Library Program. \n  \n  \n \n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nlittlefreelibrary.org\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:The Old LA Zoo
DESCRIPTION:OPEN EVERYDAY- Griffith Park\nThe Old LA Zoo\, or The Griffith Park Zoo\, opened in 1912 and closed in 1966 with the opening of the new\, Los Angeles Zoo. The abandoned site of the Griffith Park Zoo\, complete with the ruins of animal enclosures\, is now a picnic area and hiking trail in Griffith Park. \n  \n \nThe Old LA Zoo opened in 1912 with a grand total of only 15 animals. Bears\, Lions\, Monkeys\, Macaw’s\, Elephants\, Reptiles\, Goats\, and Turtles now lived in the zoo\, which was built on the original site of Griffith J. Griffith‘s defunct ostrich farm. \n  \n \nAs Los Angeles grew\, the small Griffith Park Zoo was increasingly criticized as an “inadequate\, ugly\, poorly designed despite drawing more than 2 million visitors a year. \nIn 1958\, the city decided to create a brand new zoo\, and the Griffith Park Zoo closed in August 1966. Its animals were transferred to the new Los Angeles Zoo 2 miles away\, which opened a few months later. \n  \n \nThe animal enclosures\, with the bars removed\, were left as ruins and remain today. A large picnic area was added\, and NOW every summer\, the zoo is the location for the Independent Shakespeare Company’s  Free “Shakespeare in the Park” performances. \nThe Old Zoo is located on Griffith Park Dr. Only 2 miles from today’s LA Zoo\,   \n  \n \nUpon arriving\, you will see a small parking lot. Follow the path Up the hill to reach the abandoned enclosure. \nUpon arriving\, you will enter many of the original Grotto’s. There are lots of little spaces to crawl into\, AND stairs to climb up. \n  \n \nFollow the path around to get to the upper lever where you will find even more cages & enclosures. \n \nIf you are going to come for a visit\, make sure to bring a bottle of water and your imagination. \n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nfriendsofgriffithpark.org\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:South Coast Botanical Gardens
DESCRIPTION:FREE EVERY THIRD TUESDAY– Palos Verdes Peninsula\nThe South Coast Botanical Garden is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. This lush 87-acre botanic garden has more than 2500 different species of plants that offer shelter to abundant wildlife and bird population. The diversities of trees include the fruit trees\, redwoods\, ginkgo’s\, and pittosporum designed with various themes. This botanical garden in Palos Verdes has plants even from Australia\, the Mediterranean\, and Southern Africa. One can find the beautiful ever-changing display of seasonal annuals from the entrance to the exit of this enormous garden. \nBut what makes this garden unique is that it is one of the world’s first botanical gardens to be developed over a sanitary landfill. The Garden is a masterpiece of creative land reclamation and environment improvement for all to share. It is a living testimonial to the fact that land reclamation not only offers a practical solution to refuse disposal problems\, but also beautifies and improves land values at the same time. \nSouth Coast Botanical Garden Map CLICK TO ENLARGE\nPopular features in the South Coast Botanical Garden\n \nBanyan Grove\nThe highlight of the Ficus collection is the grove of Moreton Bay Fig trees that cover the area with a massive tangle of roots. In the spring\, colorful Clivias brighten the understory of this shady grove. \nCalifornia Native Plants\nGrowing California native plants in the Garden offers many benefits: they use less water; they provide habitat and food for birds\, bees\, butterflies\, and other wildlife; they have colorful flower displays from spring to summer and berries and seeds into the fall and winter. There are several areas of the Garden where you can find California Native Plants in the landscape and gardens. The primary areas are the landscaping around the Greenhouse Complex\, the Mediterranean Garden\, and the El Rincon Garden at the corner of the Tram Road and the Service Yard road marked by the rustic lodge pole pergola. \n  \n \nChildren’s Garden and Children’s Discovery Garden\nOur most popular among young people\, this garden is developed around nursery rhymes with plants to match the stories. An enchanted dollhouse and bridge enhance the setting. Adjacent to the Children’s Garden is the Discovery Garden with a secret tunnel\, worm bin\, alphabet garden\, butterfly garden\, and whimsical characters. \n  \n \nThe New Rose Garden \nEvery view in the remarkable new Rose Garden (First Bloom coming April 2018) is breathtaking. Hand-crafted\, wrought iron fence-work depicts rose emblems\, rounded staircases gently welcome guests in\, rich warm wood tones envelop architectural structures\, a large fountain features an exquisite glass mosaic\, and of course\, colorful roses drip from every crevice. A grand guest entrance provides a magnificent overview of the formally planted space\, allowing guests to catch a glimpse of the beautiful asymmetrical design created by renowned landscape architect\, Deborah Richie-Bray\, who is known for her work at the Getty Villa. Undulating pathways guide gently through a labyrinth of planted beds and sculptural elements. Two cabana structures flank the central court and provide shade on a hot day. The celebration lawn houses several formal entrance paths that lead to a grand pergola with a raised plaza which will serve as a “stage” for events and ceremonies. \nThe more than 80 rose selections feature a variety of forms\, from climbers to ground covers. The choice of fragrant roses such as the David Austin English\, create a space of beauty in sight and scent. Rose cultivars have also been chosen by theme (the Flower Girl lines the potential bride’s path) and color (notice the ombré effect from peach to pink to red on the eastern side.) Some of the oldest varieties were hybridized in the 1800’s including Barrone Prevoset and Madame Plantier. These along with 20 rare cultivars were saved from the original garden. The Rose Garden has a unique planting design that will provide year-round appeal with plenty of non-rose companion plantings to ensure a lush experience. While typically rose gardens close for pruning when the main event plants have been clipped down to bare sticks\, the layered and diverse plant palette of this garden will provide delight year-round. Watch for bursts of purple jacaranda\, hot pink crape myrtle\, and powdery pink cherry blossoms up high\, and lower to the ground seek out blooming paper whites\, sage\, boxwood and succulents. \n  \n \nDesert Garden\nThe Desert Garden includes cacti\, euphorbia\, aloes\, and other succulents. The garden is an excellent exhibition of specimens from the United States\, Africa\, Mexico\, and South America. \n \nJapanese Garden/Koi Pond\nGarden maintained with a Bonsai Display by South Coast Bonsai Association. Enjoy listening to the calming sounds of water and taking in the subdued palette of evergreen shrubbery embracing the Koi Pond. The stone lanterns were crafted of Okazaki Stone over 200 years ago in a region said to be the capital of Japan’s stone craft. \nMediterranean Garden\nMediterranean refers to a unique climate consisting of mild\, cool\, rainy winters and hot\, dry summers seen in only five places in the world: coastal California\, the Mediterranean Basin\, southwest Australia\, the southwest Cape of South Africa\, and coastal Chile. California native plants are emphasized here. Mediterranean plants are environmentally friendly because they require very little supplemental water once established. Native plants have the added benefit of providing food and shelter to wildlife and pollinators. \nDisplay Greenhouse\nThe Display Greenhouse is open to the public from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. Designed with the color palette in mind\, the colors range from warm to cool tones. Inside the greenhouse you will find a display of a variety of tropical plants such as: Adenium\, Anthurium\, Begonia\, Bromeliad\, Carnivorous plants\, Cordyline\, Croton\, Orchids\, Hoya\, and Passionflower vine. \nFuchsia Garden\nEstablished and maintained by the South Coast Branch of the National Fuchsia Society\, this garden contains many different species\, cultivars\, and new introductions. Overhead shade cloth filters strong sunlight to allow fuchsias and other shade-loving plants to thrive. \nGarden for the Senses\nThis garden encourages you to enjoy plants and flowers by smell\, touch\, sound\, and sight. Plants are arranged in raised beds so they can easily be touched or smelled. Individual plant labels identify which senses the plant engages. \nAnd more! \nMust Visit Place for All Nature Lovers\nThe South Coast Botanic Garden serves the community in various ways by providing a unique horticultural and wildlife habitat experience. It also represents the excellent model of land reclamation and sustainability – by promoting the usage of water-saving vegetation. The South Coast Botanic Garden is a treasure to be relished and a must-have experience for all nature lovers. \nYou can even buy plants suitable for the local climate. Bird watchers can enjoy the bird walks conducted twice every month. And\, there is a picnic area just outside the garden gates. \nThe Botanical Garden is operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation\, County of LA\, in conjunction with the South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation. \n \nGarden hours – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. the last entry is allowed at 4:30 p.m. \nVisiting days – The garden is open to the public 364 days a year and closed on Christmas Day. \nFree entry tickets also available – The South Coast Botanic Garden is FREE on the third Tuesday of every month. SUMMARY:The Venice Run Club
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEEK\, EVERY RUN\, EVERY BODY- Santa Monica & Venice\nThe Venice Run Club is the heartbeat of Venice. A community of runners here to better ourselves and our community. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. Venice Run Club was born. \nNearly two years later\, we have grown into a strong group of 200+ runners\, given back $100\,000 and over 1\,100lbs of clothing to the LA community\, guided over 40 runners to completing their first marathon\, and become On’s first-ever sponsored run club in America. \nCome make friends\, break a sweat\, and get to know the city in the best way possible: by running its streets. \n\n\n\n  \n\nWeekly Run Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nTrack Tuesday- 7:30PM\n\nSanta Monica High School- 601 Pico Blvd\, Santa Monica\, CA 90405 \n\n\n\n\n\nMobbin Wednesday- 6:30pm\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n\n\n\n\nLong Run Saturday- 8:30am\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://venicerunclub.co/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Roundhouse Aquarium
DESCRIPTION:OPEN DAILY- Manhattan Beach Pier\nThe Roundhouse Aquarium is located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier. The Roundhouse has undergone a recent revitalization through a $4 million capital project spearheaded by the Harrison Greenberg Foundation. The new Roundhouse Aquarium educates and inspires more than 300\,000 visitors every year. It is managed and operated by the nonprofit oceanic and environmental organization Oceanographic Teaching Stations\, Inc. (OTS)\, whose mission is to connect and engage visitors and students to the oceans through hands-on interactive experiences with marine life and habitats of southern California\, and to inspire them to become good stewards of our environment. \nOTS’ programs at the Roundhouse Aquarium promote the study of the oceans\, tidelands and beaches of Southern California through a wide slate of science-based and standards-aligned education programs with its immersive and engaging exhibits of a diverse array of marine life.  More than 100 marine animals from Southern California’s waters live at the aquarium\, many are native to its local waters in the Santa Monica Bay. Notable wildlife include moon jellies\, sharks\, octopus\, sheepshead\, moray eels\, lobsters\, and more – as well as a touch tank with sea stars\, sea cucumbers\, sea urchins and sea snails. The aquarium prides itself on being family oriented. It’s a great place for kids to take their parents! \n\n\n\n\n\nCome SEA our Marine Exhibits\nGet to know the habitats within Southern California by visiting our diverse marine exhibits. These exhibits are showcased within 4 Aquarium Galleries. \n\n\nMarine Habitat Gallery\n\nRocky Reef Tank \nThe Rocky Reef shows us what reefs in the cold California waters look like. They are similar to coral reefs but are made up of rocks instead of corals. They are just as important of a habitat as coral reefs and often serve as a nursery for many types of juvenile fish. \nKelp Forest Tank \nThe Kelp Forest tank represents a distinct southern California marine habitat. This tank shows us what it looks like to swim at the edge of the kelp forest\, where rocks become scarcer and sand more plentiful. Many of the animals in the tank can live their life deep within the kelp forest or at the very edge. Those animals at the edges can even camouflage in the sand. \n\n\n\n\nEducation Gallery\n\nDeep Kelp Forest Tank\nThese tanks represent a very diverse and abundant habitat\, the kelp forest! The giant kelp that grows 2 feet a day\, provides food and shelter for many different animals. Not only is this habitat important for animals\, but it is also important to humans as well! Seaweeds\, like kelp\, produce about 70% of our oxygen through photosynthesis. So\, take a deep breath and thank kelp! \nTide Pool Tank\nAll the animals that you can find in our touch tank live in a habitat called a tide pool. When the tide is low and the water has receded\, pools of water are left in between rocks which form the tide pools. In Southern California\, we have 2 high tides and 2 low tides every day\, which means the animals’ habitat is always changing. They must have special adaptations that allow them to live in such a dynamic habitat. \nPier Piling Tank\nHave you ever wondered what is under the pier? This tank will give you a good idea! Pier pilings\, while man made\, do create a habitat for lots of animals ranging from mussels\, to crabs\, to fish and rays. The fish can either hide amongst the mussels or lay on the sand under the pier among the rays. \n\n\n\n \n\n\nMarine Science Gallery\n\nJewel Tank\nSee our animals in the spotlight with cool adaptive traits like our spotted rose anemone that has biofluorescence and our baby swell shark eggs that can camouflage as seaweed. The baby swell sharks are really cute when they hatch out too! \nPipefish Tank\nThe Pipefish tank is an example of a mudflat with eelgrass beds that act as a nursery for young fish and young sting rays. See if you can spot a pipefish in the eelgrass. \nArtificial Reef Tank\nThe Artificial Reef tank is an examples of man-made structures left behind that now act as reefs teaming with life from sea anemones on rock scallops to sea stars to juvenile rockfish. Can you see the bright orange Garibaldi with blue spots? \nOctopus Tank\nThe octopus tank is an example of a deep water habitat brought to life for our guests to see. It features anemones and rock scallops on the reef which also add structure and microhabitats to the reef. The decorator crab uses the colonial strawberry anemones to help decorate its body to camouflage with the reef. There are small but colorful rockfish like the half-banded rockfish that stay close to the rocks and use them as shelter. \nKid’s Kelp Corner\nHave you ever wondered oh why\, oh why did my goldfish die? Come find the answer in the Kid’s Kelp Corner. You can also relax and read the many ocean related books in our library while watching our inquisitive freshwater fish. \nDiscovery Center\nCome check out what it means to be a scientist! Observe plankton\, learn about the food chain\, and discover some of the aquarium’s smallest residents. \nSeahorse Tank\nSeahorses are some of the most fragile sea creatures in the ocean\, and they can camouflage to look like seaweed\, eelgrass\, or even sea fans. They use their tails to hold onto eelgrass and stay upright\, but they won’t swim except in short bursts. They have excellent eyesight that they use to track their prey\, which are small shrimps. \n  \n\n\n\nImmersion Gallery\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober through March\nMonday-Friday: 2PM – 5PM\nSaturday-Sunday: 10AM – 5PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n}\n\n\nApril through September\nMonday-Friday: 2PM – 7PM\nSaturday-Sunday: 10AM – 7PM \nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Saturday: 10:00am – 5:00pm\nSunday: 11:00am – 5:00pm \n  \n\n\nAdvanced timed-entry reservations are required.\n\n\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nroundhouseaquarium.org/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Greystone Mansion and Gardens
DESCRIPTION:OPEN DAILY 10am – 5pm- Beverly Hills\nThe historic Greystone Mansion and Gardens is owned by the City of Beverly Hills and is operated through the Department of Community Services – Recreation and Parks Division. \nGreystone Mansion\, and the surrounding grounds it shares its magnificent beauty with\, are rich in California history. Edward Laurence Doheny\, the original proprietor of the Greystone land\, was born in 1856 in the small Midwestern town of Fond du Lac\, Wisconsin. By the time he was a young teen\, Doheny’s adventuresome spirit and love of the wilderness led him to prospecting for gold and soon thereafter\, oil. In 1892\, Doheny and his friend Charles A. Canfield\, were the first to strike oil in Los Angeles. They later discovered large oil deposits in Mexico which\, combined with their Los Angeles holdings\, made them the largest producers of oil in the world at that time. \n \nEdward Doheny and his wife Carrie Louella Wilkins had two children. Their first\, a daughter Eileen\, passed away when she was just seven years old. On November 6\, 1893\, their only son\, Edward “Ned” Laurence Doheny\, Jr.\, was born and grew up as heir to one of the world’s great financial empires. Ned went on to marry Lucy Smith of Pasadena and in 1926 Edward Laurence Doheny Sr. gave his son as a wedding gift a premium parcel of land consisting of 12.58 acres with sweeping citywide views. \n \nConstruction of the palatial manor home began February 15\, 1927 and although Ned\, his wife Lucy\, and their five children moved into the residence in September 1928\, the estate took three years to complete at a cost of over $3 million\, an almost unimaginable sum in real estate at the time. \n\nDue to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19\, the Doheny Greystone Estate is open to the public by reservation only.  Please make a reservation here:\nbeverlyhills.org/visitgreystone\n \nPark grounds are usually open to the public daily\, but may occasionally be closed for holidays\, filming or special events. \nNo fee for parking or park admission on open park days. \nGreystone Mansion and Gardens is open only for special events. \nFor information on park closings\, weddings\, photography and other private events at Greystone\, contact the Greystone office\, \n310-285-6830\, or visit the Park website at www.beverlyhills.org/Greystone \nHours\nOpen Daily: 10:00am – 5:00pm\nDay Light Savings Hours: 10:00am – 6:00pm \n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.greystonemansion.org/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

With a belief that the greatest art collections are built when the art is being made\, the Broads took to collecting art of their own time. \nThe Broad is home to 2\,000 works in the Broad collection by more than 200 artists\, and is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. The collection features in-depth holdings of influential contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat\, Mark Bradford\, Jasper Johns\, Jeff Koons\, Barbara Kruger\, Yayoi Kusama\, Kerry James Marshall\, Julie Mehretu\, Takashi Murakami\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, Cindy Sherman\, Cy Twombly\, Andy Warhol\, and more\, plus an ever-growing representation of younger artists. \n  \nView Our Collection Here\n \nIn Under the Table\, 1994\, the viewer is both in the world of imaginary giants and in the world of remembered childhood. Fusing Alice in Wonderland with the Duchampian tradition of the readymade\, Artist Robert Therrien constructs a doppelganger from an everyday object\, both displaying his visual wit and actualizing literary or imaginative fantasy in three-dimensional space. The table exudes an extraordinary aura\, compelling one to walk underneath the table and conjuring the physical memory of being under the table of one’s childhood home. Complicated and powerful\, the work offers fresh ideas of what a table\, sculpture\, and memory can mean. \n  \n  \n \nUsing the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog\, Koons has frozen a moment in time\, exaggerating both scale and material. \nBalloon Dog (Blue) is literal and abstract. When standing close to it\, one’s own distorted reflection bends around smooth pert curves. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission is Free\nAll visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance. Some exhibitions and events carry a separate charge. \n\n\n\n\n\nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Wednesday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.\nThursday – Friday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.\nSaturday: 10:00 a.m.-8:00p.m.\nSunday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00p.m. \n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.thebroad.org/visit/mirror-rooms\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:Summer Solstice at Griffith Observatory
DESCRIPTION:JUNE 21st- Live Broadcast\nSummer Solstice at Griffith Observatory marks the start of summer in the northern hemisphere with a live online talk! Observatory staff will discuss the meaning of local noon\, show how the Sun’s changing path across the sky causes seasonal changes\, and determine where the Sun sets on the western horizon. \n \nSeasons\n\nSummer begins in Earth’s northern hemisphere at 2:14 a.m.\, PDT\, today. Winter begins in the southern hemisphere at the same time. The June/summer solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its maximum declination (23.5 degrees). This is when Earth’s northern hemisphere is tilted as far toward the Sun as possible during a given year. \n \nWhat Is Summer?\n\nFrom the summer solstice until the start of autumn – the autumnal equinox in September – days will get shorter\, and the noon elevation of the Sun will decrease. This happens because the Earth’s axis is tilted 23½ degrees to its orbit. June 21 is the longest day of the year. \n\nExplore the Exterior Exhibits\nThe grounds of the Observatory present compelling opportunities to observe the movement of the Sun and Moon and to walk a scale model of the solar system. Looming over the lawn is a monumental sculpture celebrating astronomers who gradually revealed the nature of the universe. The terraces offer vistas of Los Angeles\, Griffith Park\, Mt. Wilson\, the Pacific Ocean\, and\, of course\, the famous Hollywood Sign. \nAstronomers Monument & Sundial\nGreeting visitors upon their arrival at Griffith Observatory\, the Astronomers Monument is a large outdoor concrete sculpture on the front lawn that pays homage to six of the greatest astronomers of all time. \n \nSolar System Lawn Model\nEngraved on the front sidewalk of Griffith Observatory is a scale model of our solar system. One-quarter-inch-wide bronze lines mark the orbits of the planets\, which are indicated with bronze plaques also embedded in the sidewalks. \n\n \nSunset & Moonset Radial Lines\nSeven stone and bronze lines embedded in the lower West Observation Terrace radiate out from the building toward the western horizon. Each line points toward a notable sunset or moonset position on the horizon. \n \nThe Gottlieb Transit Corridor\n\nThe new Robert J. and Suzanne Gottlieb Transit Corridor\, a monumental 150-foot-long\, 10-foot-wide glass-walled passageway\, immerses visitors in the motions of the Sun\, Moon\, and stars across the sky and demonstrates how these motions are linked with time and the calendar. \n\n\n\nRoof & Terraces\n\nGriffith Observatory’s roof and terraces give visitors a chance to observe the panorama of Los Angeles. Connected by the Observatory’s lawn and sidewalks\, the terraces provide vantage points facing in every direction. \n\n\n\nRebel Without a Cause Monument\n\nAlthough hundreds of films\, television shows\, and commercials have used the picturesque surroundings of Griffith Observatory\, none have featured the building more prominently or brought as much international attention as the Warner Brothers production of Rebel Without a Cause in 1955. \n\n\n\n\n \n2800 E Observatory Rd\, Los Angeles\, CA 90027 \nGriffith Observatory is Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos! Visitors may look through telescopes\, explore exhibits\, see live shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium\, and enjoy spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. \n \nThe Observatory is a free-admission\, public facility owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks in the middle of an urban metropolis of ten million people. The 67\,000 square-foot building is one of the most popular informal education facilities in the United States and the most-visited public observatory in the world with 1.6 million visitors a year. Griffith Observatory is a unique hybrid of public observatory\, planetarium\, and exhibition space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHours\nMonday-Thursday: Closed\nFriday: 12:00pm – 10:00pm\nSaturday & Sunday: 10:00am – 10:00pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \ngriffithobservatory.org/exhibits/exterior-exhibits\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

In fact\, they tend to have better mobility overall.\nVR gaming improves spatial attention in children and gives them the ability to quickly locate a target in a field of distractors\, which has proven to be a good predictor of driving ability.\nPlaying VR games\, which often resemble actual real-world experiences\, helps children translate the skills they learned in these educational VR environments to the real world.\nAccording to recent research\, children that play shooting games have increased vision capabilities. Scientists have found that the fast-paced games increase adrenaline and dopamine in the brain which helps maintain and improve brain health.\nVR gaming increases mental flexibility and improves a child’s ability to quickly switch seamlessly between tasks with conflicting demands.\nVR games are a great way to reduce stress and depression in children. Immersing in a VR game can result in short and long-term mood boost that helps them relax and unwind\, decreasing the levels of stress a person may be experiencing.\n\n  \n \n\nCome to The Inglewood Public Library and “check out” their new selection of video games\, for Playstation 4\, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One\, that you can borrow\, just like you would borrow a book? \n \nDid you finish your homework?
\n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
