Focus is placed on aiding teens in setting meaningful goals to accomplish individually and collaboratively through peer-to-peer leadership\, art\, special gatherings\, and park engagement. \nOur SPOT has been a safe haven for teens after school – providing a place to make friends\, participate in fun activities and learn self-esteem. While Los Angeles County shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020\, so did many of the after school and youth serving organizations in Los Angeles County. However\, Our SPOT stayed connected with teens through virtual programming available live on mobile devices and smartphones. DESCRIPTION:TRAILS & TIDE POOLING in Palos Verdes\nAbalone Cove Shoreline Park is a coastal tide pool treasure\, located at the tip of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The park contains an ecological preserve and is famous for its outstanding tide pools. \nIt is worth checking tide charts to visit these beaches at low tide for the tide pools and the tunnels. \nDAILY TIDE CHARTS HERE\n  \n \nOut at the end and right at the base of the points there are amazing rock tunnels where waves rush in and crash through. \n  \nTrails meander on the bluff out to excellent views from two prominent points. Below these points are three separate coves with beaches and tide pools. \nAbalone Cove Park features 2 beaches (Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove)\, tide pools\, bluff top viewing areas and trails crisscrossing the area. The park contains a State Ecological Preserve and taking of protected animals and marine life is prohibited. There is direct access to a parking lot off Palos Verdes Drive South. Access to Abalone Cove Beach is by a long trail from the parking lot. To access Sacred Cove\, users must walk along Palos Verdes Drive South to 1 of 2 trails between Portuguese and Inspiration Points. Lifeguards are on duty at Abalone Cove Beach during summer hours and weekends only. The views of the ocean and Catalina Island are spectacular. Barbeques and fires are prohibited at this site. Our tool lending program provides the community opportunities to check out tools and maker items at no cost. The inventory includes hammers\, wrenches\, electrical cords\, cookware\, sewing machines\, gardening tools\, power tools\, and much more. \nThis program is supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act\, administered in California by the State Librarian. \n\nTool Catalog\n\n\nDue to space availability\, not all libraries have the same set of tools. They are: \nYou can purchase your ticket from the dock attendants stationed at each WaterBus stop. The Block 5 variant is the fifth major interval aimed at improving upon the ability for rapid reusability. \nSpace Exploration Technologies Corp.\, known as SpaceX\, is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company headquartered in Hawthorne\, California. It was founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Elon Musk with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars. SpaceX has many pads\, on the East Coast of the US they own SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral and LC-39A at the Kennedy Space Center for their lower inclination launches. They also own SLC-4E at Vandenberg\, California for their high inclination launches. Another site is also being developed at Boca Chica\, Texas. \n  \n  \n \nAtlas V 401\nAn Atlas V with a 4 meter diameter fairing\, no boosters and a single centaur upper stage engine. \nUnited Launch Alliance (ULA) is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin Space Systems and Boeing Defense\, Space & Security. It is a demonstration garden exhibiting drought-tolerant plants\, mostly local California natives\, and is a certified nature habitat. It was created and is maintained solely by volunteers\, and is a teaching tool whose purpose is to promote MBBG’s mission of resource and wildlife conservation education. \nWe encourage activities and gatherings consistent with the mission. \nThe garden\, including the benches\, meditation garden deck and amphitheater may be used on a first come first serve basis by individuals and small groups. Please keep group activities to 90 minutes or less in order to allow others a turn. All our guests are expected to show reasonable care for signage\, structures\, paths\, vegetation\, and wildlife.
