Meet at the East Trailhead Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area to check-in and meet your Hike Leader! \n  \n \n9 AM: YOGA \nMeet at the 9/11 Memorial Tree at the Bluff (nearby the Burke Roche picnic area/Restrooms) \nThe yoga is fun and BEGINNER-friendly! \nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow does this work? \nMeet at 8am at the East Trailhead of Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area\, which is at Don Lorenzo and La Brea. \nIf you intend on meeting for the hike\, route your car to “Don Lorenzo and La Brea.” There is street parking and other park lots nearby. You will need to cross the street and take the steps up to the East Trailhead map sign. \n​ \nUpon arrival\, each participant signs the liability form and the roster. \nYou will have the choice to join a Hike Leader to have a “respectful-distanced” mindful hike experience\, or you may take a self-guided hike. Your Hike Leader will hold space for introductions and mindful pauses during your hike towards the yoga location. Be prepared to say your name\, where you reside\, and your take on the theme of the week. Enter here\, take the road all the way up\, and park by the Burke Roche picnic area/restrooms if you want to ONLY join the 9am yoga. \n​ \nWhat kind of trail will the group hike?\nThere are many trails up to the yoga location but we plan to have Hike Leaders for our Signature moderate\, nature-full trail with inclines and declines. The trail will take us to up to the Bluff where there are restrooms and water fountains. This 2021 Season we will be debuting the Hummingbird trail (Park to Playa trail + Bowl loop)\, which is more flat and takes you through a beautiful hummingbird garden. Both hikes will be about 40-45 minutes. \n​ \nWhat if I only want to do the yoga class\, what is the easiest way to get to yoga at 9 am? \nYou can pay $7 cash for parking\, enter at the La Cienega entrance\, and park right by the Burke Roche picnic area/restrooms. Walk about 2 minutes down the Bluff to the 9/11 Memorial Tree. \n​ \nWho will be teaching the yoga classes? Will the classes be beginner-friendly? \nWe have an awesome team of Hike to Yoga LA Yoga Teachers\, including Hike to Yoga LA Founder\, Laurie\, who enjoys teaching her signature Yoga Wave Circle!\nOur teacher team is diverse in age and body-type\, and are ready to inspire you with community\, nature and of course\, yoga!\nYoga class is 60 minutes long\, starts promptly at 9 am. SUMMARY:UCLA Meteorite Collection
DESCRIPTION:FREE WEEKDAYS- UCLA Westwood Village\nThe UCLA Collection of Meteorites is the largest on the West Coast and contains over 2500 samples from about 1500 different meteorites. It is the fifth largest collection of meteorites in the United States and the second largest housed at a university. \n  \n \nOur collection includes the main masses of about 40 meteorites and the type specimens of more than 300 meteorites collected from hot deserts; 60 of these are iron meteorites. Eighty of these meteorite type specimens are from the state of California. These were collected by local citizens during the past few decades\, mainly from the playas (dry lakes) scattered around the Mojave Desert. \n  \n \nSome of our meteorites are large and well suited for exhibits (in fact\, some of them are exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History). However\, most of the samples are small and mainly of value for research. \n  \n  \n \nThe study of meteorites and the processes that formed them is called cosmochemistry. The cosmochemists at UCLA are among the most productive university researchers in the world. It is thus appropriate that we have one of the best university meteorite collections. \n  \nWe are in the second year of operating a Meteorite Gallery\, located in room 3697 of the Geology Building. Opened in January 2014\, the Gallery is open to the public weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. CLOSED WEEKENDS. Admission is always free. The current exhibits will gradually expand as funds and additional samples are obtained. Call ahead and we will arrange to have a docent on hand to give an informative tour of the museum’s car collection. DESCRIPTION:NOW ON VIEW- The Autry Museum\n\n\n\n\nThe Autry Museum of the American West wants to know\, “What makes Griffith Park special to you?”  In a city with such diversity as Los Angeles\, The Autry is reaching out to Angelenos in hopes to hear from as many people as possible.\n\n\n\n\n \nWhat makes Griffith Park special to you? For many Angelenos\, the name evokes a panorama of memories—from picnics\, hikes\, horses\, and softball games to the zoo\, observatory\, trains\, and\, of course\, the Autry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBut how much do you really know about Griffith Park? How did it come to be\, and what are its best-kept secrets? Join us as we explore stories about Griffith Park\, a landscape that we honor as Tongva/Gabrielino land and a public park for Los Angeles. \n  \n \n  \nTo celebrate Griffith Park’s 125th anniversary in 2021\, the Autry\, has opened a community-led exhibition. The Autry’s newest exhibition\, Investigating Griffith Park\, a hands-on space that invites visitors to share their stories\, experiences\, and input on what the anniversary celebration should include. \n \n  \nOne section of the current gallery asks\, “What is the park to you?” and invites visitors to write responses. The museum says that while the public’s notes may influence the final exhibition\, they’re also helping the museum plan future questions\, focus group topics\, and talk-back sessions with partner organizations. \n \n\n\n\nWhile the Autry designed the gallery as a way to gather feedback from the public\, it’s also a great introduction to what the park offers. Visitors will find historical artifacts and photos\, video clips of Griffith Park’s many movie appearances\, a kids’ play area\, and an oversized board game about P-22\, the beloved mountain lion. \nEven the area of the park where the Autry is located has a fascinating history. In addition to the upcoming anniversary exhibition\, the Autry’s long-term plan includes building a research archive around Griffith Park in order to make it easier for people to study the park and to spur further research. \n  \n\n\n\n\nTimeline:\nCurrently open in its first phase of development\, we welcome your feedback as we further transform one of the Autry’s core galleries into an experiential\, hands-on space. Through Investigating Griffith Park\, we are gathering input from hundreds of visitors and experts to reveal some of the many stories from the park’s 4\,000-plus acres.
