The Pack Theater was founded by Miles Stroth (The Family\, Heather & Miles) in 2007 as the Miles Stroth Workshop\, and subsequently evolved into a den of viscerally exciting\, unexpected\, and original comedy. \n \nDuring the Covid-19 pandemic\, The Pack Theater was unable to offer our normal classes which would meet at our theater and class spaces in Hollywood\, CA. As conditions have changed and improved\, we are now once again offering In-Person classes. \nSome classes will still be offered Online. Others will have In-Person options. \nThe 4 week Online classes will require a $50 deposit to reserve your spot\, with the rest due prior to the start of classes. DESCRIPTION:OPEN EVERY DAY- DTLA Wells Fargo Center\n \nGraham Garden integrates Fountain Figures I-IV\, a collection of graceful sculptures created by late Los Angeles artist Robert Graham\, in a newly designed outdoor plaza at Halo. For over fifty years\, Robert Graham’s observation of the female form and use of scale allowed him to explore and create a range of intimate sized works and large public monuments\, widely celebrated for their precise iconic detail. \nThe sculptures were originally part of CRA/LA’s mission in 1985 to incorporate public art in redevelopment projects and revitalize Downtown Los Angeles. The four sculptures are currently situated in an exterior landscaped setting that Graham’s son\, Steven Graham\, consulted on as part of the renovation at Wells Fargo Center. \n  \n \nRobert Graham\, was a Mexican born sculptor\, and although you may not be familiar with his name\, you probably ARE familiar with some of his work. Graham’s monumental bronzes commemorate the human figure\, and are featured in 11 public places in and around the city of Angels. Including; The Olympic Gateway at the Memorial Coliseum\, The Torso at Rodeo Drive\, The Great Bronze Doors and Statue of Mary at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels\, and The Dance Door – Los Angeles Music Center \n  \n \nAnd now\, you can see his latest collection. The Robert Graham Sculpture Garden gracefully nestled in the newly designed outdoor plaza at Halo\, at Wells Fargo Center. \nThis collection is a unique addition\, to the Olympic Celebration\, coming to LA in 2028\, The collection of four bronze fountain figures\, was inspired by gymnastic athleticism\, strength\, and beauty. Fountain waters flow over bronze and granite pedestals into a shallow reflecting pools\, which are integrated into the Halo’s landscape. \nYou will find the Robert Graham Sculpture Garden at the very top of Bunker Hill\, in DTLA at 330 S Hope St between Hope and Grand. \n  \nGraham Garden are open 24/7\nThe Graham Sculpture Garden is within walking distance of MOCA\, The Broad\, The Walt Disney Concert Hall\, The Music Center\, Grand Park\, Angels Flight and Grand Central Market. The company which created the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch mounted the 156-foot-tall (47-meter) gigantic space machine on vertical display for its significant milestone and as a testament to the perseverance of its founder\, and chief engineer Elon Musk\, who wants to reduce the cost of colonizing Mars by developing a fleet of fully reusable spaceships. \n  \n \nThe rocket on display is the first SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to land successfully after years of research and experiment\, during which the company switched from its initial plan to retrieve rockets with parachutes to a very thoughtful idea of involving multiple engine restarts\, landing legs\, and precision landing algorithms. \nSpaceX  Falcon 9 rocket successfully stage landed at Cape Canaveral after a Dec. 21 launch with 11 Orbcomm communications satellites on vertical display. The rocket is a jaw-dropping out-of-space scientific attraction visible to passersby on nearby streets and freeways. The rocket is located near the southeast corner of SpaceX headquarters at the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Jack Northrop Ave. in Hawthorne\, California\, a suburb of Los Angeles. \n  \n \nThe historic masterpiece had to undergo thorough scrubbing and treatment to wash away soot residue it gathered from flying through its own exhaust\, before it was brought to Hawthorne for permanent exhibition in front of SpaceX’s main building with the help of two heavy-lifting cranes. \nSpaceX Falcon 9 rocket boosters that were recovered since its first mission are being put to use again and again as SpaceX has now flown a previously flown first stage on a satellite launch. Paul Getty Museum’s collection.This collection antiquities includes over 1\,200 works are on view in 23 galleries devoted to the permanent collection along with five additional galleries for changing exhibitions.  There are objects dating from 6\,500 B.C. to A.D. 400. \nThe Getty Villa offers an incomparable setting for the study and enjoyment of the arts. The Villa weaves together art\, performances\, family activities\, lectures\, theater\, scholarship\, conservation. There are other activities to create an integrated educational and cultural experience for all ages. The museum serves as a gateway to the classical past for students\, scholars\, specialized professionals\, and general audiences. \n\nThe Getty Villa’s Architecture\n\nExplore the groundbreaking architecture of the Getty Center in this 45 minute docent-led tour of the site. \n \n \nGardens are integral to the setting of the Getty Villa\, as they were in the ancient Roman home. Open spaces around the site feature bronze sculptures\, fountains\, and lush plantings of trees\, herbs\, and flowers used by the Romans. In ancient Roman times\, the outer peristyle garden would have been used to converse with guests and for solo contemplation. \n \n\nThe Getty Villa is Closed Mondays\nAdmission to the Getty Villa is free for the whole family. Each Villa ticket allows you to bring up to three children ages 15 and under with you in one car. The Getty Villa offers special educational programs for children. DESCRIPTION:FREE WEEKDAYS- UCLA Westwood Village\nThe UCLA Collection of Meteorites is the largest on the West Coast and contains over 2500 samples from about 1500 different meteorites. It is the fifth largest collection of meteorites in the United States and the second largest housed at a university. \n  \n \nOur collection includes the main masses of about 40 meteorites and the type specimens of more than 300 meteorites collected from hot deserts; 60 of these are iron meteorites. Eighty of these meteorite type specimens are from the state of California. These were collected by local citizens during the past few decades\, mainly from the playas (dry lakes) scattered around the Mojave Desert. \n  \n \nSome of our meteorites are large and well suited for exhibits (in fact\, some of them are exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History). However\, most of the samples are small and mainly of value for research. \n  \n  \n \nThe study of meteorites and the processes that formed them is called cosmochemistry. The cosmochemists at UCLA are among the most productive university researchers in the world. It is thus appropriate that we have one of the best university meteorite collections. \n  \nWe are in the second year of operating a Meteorite Gallery\, located in room 3697 of the Geology Building. Opened in January 2014\, the Gallery is open to the public weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. CLOSED WEEKENDS. Admission is always free. The current exhibits will gradually expand as funds and additional samples are obtained. Contact 310 376-9833 \n\n \n30 Pier Avenue\, Hermosa Beach\, CA 90254 \n \nA restaurant called “Verpilate’s” was built a short walk from the ocean at 30 Pier Avenue in 1934\, and it was converted into “The Lighthouse”\, a bar\, in 1940 (“Café” was added to the official name only when the business was sold in 1981). The club first began showcasing jazz music on May 29\, 1949\, when owner John Levine permitted bassist/band leader Howard Rumsey to start a recurring Sunday jam session on a trial basis. The experiment was a success. Rumsey became club manager soon after and put together a house band called the Lighthouse All-Stars. \nWhile the club also hosted visiting groups\, the Lighthouse All-Stars became a noted ensemble in its own right\, which had among its guest musicians Chet Baker\, Gerry Mulligan\, and Miles Davis. The longest-running members of the Lighthouse All-Stars were Bob Cooper (tenor saxophone)\, Conte Candoli (trumpet)\, and Stan Levey (drums). \n \nWest Coast jazz stalwarts Shorty Rogers\, Richie Kamuca\, Bill Holman\, Bud Shank\, Shelly Manne\, and Jimmy Giuffre were also regulars in the early days. Max Roach was the regular drummer for a while in 1953. The club also became an important venue for recordings; Art Pepper\, Lee Morgan\, Cannonball Adderley\, Mose Allison\, Ramsey Lewis\, Art Blakey\, Charles Earland\, Grant Green\, Elvin Jones\, Cal Tjader\, the Modern Jazz Quartet\, The Three Sounds\, the Jazz Crusaders\, and Joe Henderson all made recordings there. \n \n“The Lighthouse” sponsored an inter-collegiate jazz festival in the late-1950s\, and the competition’s winners included Mike Melvoin and Les McCann. \nJohn Levine died in 1970 and Rumsey left “The Lighthouse” in 1971 to open the “Concerts By The Sea” jazz club in nearby Redondo Beach. The Burbank Sidewalk Astronomers host these nights several times a month. The event is open to the public\, and people of all ages are welcome to come out to enjoy the spectacle. \nThe Sidewalk Astronomers usually have several telescopes set up\, each pointed at a different part of the sky. They are happy to answer questions and guide visitors through the process of using the telescopes. Many people have never looked through a telescope before\, and they were amazed at the detail they can see in the stars and planets. \nOne of the highlights of the evening is the chance to see a real planet like Mars Saturn\, or Jupiter and its four largest moons. Each night the show is a bit different. \nOne of the most popular attractions to see through the scopes is the Orion Nebula. The nebula is a vast cloud of gas and dust that is home to many young stars. Many nights visitors can see the bright colors of the nebula and the stars that were forming inside it. \nThroughout the evening\, the Sidewalk Astronomers will give talks about astronomy and space exploration.
