Her raw authenticity can be partly attributed to her upbringing in California’s historically artistic Bay Area – specifically Oakland and Berkeley. She was surrounded by music growing up\, as her mother was a singer and her father belonged to a local rap group. But when she wasn’t performing ‘90s classics like Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” at her mother’s Kingdom Hall\, Samaria was on her skateboard skating to visionaries like Justin Timberlake\, Paramore\, Aaliyah\, Destiny’s Child and Lauryn Hill or blasting hits like “Cry Me A River” and “One In A Million” in her late grandmother’s car. \n  \nSEAFOOD SAM\n \nSeafood Sam compliments beats with a conversational delivery. Lyrically he is flexible\, often casually rapping about basketball\, experience\, and fashion\, all while comically dissing his contemporaries. “Acting hard\, knowing you soft\, you the dude in the crew who run errands for the boss\,” he smoothly says on “Ramsey.” His braggadocios style and imaginative ear for beats showcase a daringness that is increasingly rare in rappers today. Seafood Sam continues to find comfort in his individuality and is a gem worth checking out. \n  \nYOUR GRANDPARENTS\n \nYour Grandparents make music that reaches to the nostalgia of previous decades. The Los Angeles born and raised trio\, composed of producer ghettoblasterman and vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter\, isn’t cemented to just one genre\, either.  The friends founded Your Grandparents\, using the moniker as a nod to the elders who introduced them to classic artists and inspired their musical tastes. Today\, Your Grandparents release music that nods to funk\, soul\, hip-hop\, rock\, blues and other genres with an emphasis on introspection. “All Dem Times”\, the group’s sophmore full-length LP\, will be released 2023. \n  \nKING ISIS\n \nBorn and raised in the cultural hub of Oakland\, CA\, King Isis shifts shapes and fuses sounds ranging from rock and R&B to jazz and blues\, sweeping through pain\, growth\, and transformation.  Music has been in King Isis’ blood for generations. They were taught on the piano of their great-great-grandmother Omega King\, one of the first Black opera singers in Chicago. Stifled by years of stringent classic training\, they began to explore a more improvisational and experimental approach. \n  \nV.C.R\n \nV.C.R\, born Veronica Camille Ratliff\, is a world-class multidisciplinary singer/songwriter\, composer\, violinist\, and published author. The Memphis-bred recording artist blends cathartic lyrics combined with her powerhouse vocals that entrances the listener and leaves them breathless. As a storyteller\, this transcendental soul-singer uses amalgamations of her rich southern gospel roots and classical orchestral training to produce songs rooted in vulnerability and truth. Look out for her debut LP “The Chronicles of a Caterpillar vol. 1: The Egg” with fellow distinguished musicians. She will also be performing fan favorites Blue\, Divinity\, and so much more. She plans to honor her southern roots and add flavor to the stage. \n  \nWAVEIQ\n \nWaveIQ is an LA-based DJ\, artist\, and producer from Woodbridge\, Virginia. Q is Duckwrth’s closest collaborator\, working across his last two EP’s SG8 & Chrome Bull.\nQ has recently produced songs for Larry June\, ¿Teo?\, Princess Nokia\, Jazz Cartier\, and executive produced Angel Haze’s album “Girl With The Gun”. Q’s first big break happened in 2017 when he found himself at Jaden Smith’s house playing beats. This led to him producing “Fallen” on his Debut Album “Syre” and later opening for Smith on The Vision Tour. Following this success Q produced\, toplined\, and featured on multiple tracks on Goldlink’s album “Diaspora”. On top of being a producer\, Q has an exciting artist project that includes the album “Arcadia” as well as a new album on the way. \n  \nBLUE THE GREAT\n \nBryan Blue is a self-taught artist raised in Dallas\, TX and now residing in Los Angeles. His consistency and versatility have made him a fixture in the art and creative communities of Los Angeles and beyond. His work draws inspiration from graffiti\, cartoons\, and music\, bringing his audience into a colorful world where anything is possible. \n  \nSTARRZA\n \nMeet Starrza! a dj / producer / performer her eclectic musical taste & divine story-telling shines effortlessly under the guise of shapeless sounds\, merging her roots in house & afro beats while adding a myriad of sensual styles providing the environment of timeless feel goods.  From buying her first pioneer equipment in 2014 to being the traveling vibe connoisseur for each stage she lights up. The undeniable energy that is left in the room is what it’s all about! \n  \nLARCE BLAKE\n \nLarce Blake is a talented Music Producer / DJ who has produced a string of successful songs for renowned artists like Kaash Paige\, Phabo\, Tink\, Ann Marie\, Tyus\, Jess Connelly\, Kari Faux\, and Dee Gatti\, establishing himself as one of Dallas’ next breakout stars. In addition\, Larce is a co-founder of Familiar Faces\, a rapidly growing party and platform based in Los Angeles\, where their monthly events consistently draw an average of close to 1\,000 attendees. \n  \nROSE GAWD\n \nRoseGawd a DJ from the San Fernando Valley began her DJ career in Harlem before making her way back home. Rosegawd has consistently and successfully curated events that celebrate and bring music and fashion together. \n\nAbout AFROPUNK\nAfroPunk Spaces is a dynamic initiative that creates inclusive and empowering environments for the AfroPunk community. As an extension of the AfroPunk movement\, which celebrates the creativity\, talent\, and cultural contributions of Black individuals\, AfroPunk Spaces aims to provide physical and virtual spaces where people can express themselves freely\, connect with like-minded individuals\, and explore their identities. \nAt AfroPunk Spaces\, we understand the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces for marginalized communities to thrive. By providing platforms for expression and collaboration\, we strive to amplify underrepresented voices\, challenge societal norms\, and celebrate the rich diversity within the AfroPunk community. \nStay tuned as we drop more sessions this week! 🔥 \n\nForward to the next Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Sunday Sessions >>>\n> August 20th – Fusicology’s 20th Anniversary \n> September 17th – Latin House \nSee you there? 😎 \n\n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \ngrandparkla.org/event/grand-parks-sunday-sessions-2023\n \n  \nFind more

Chess enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in this extraordinary chess gathering\, held every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. Explore the promenade\, relish the energetic atmosphere\, and embrace the thrill of chess. With friendly competition\, social interaction\, and intellectual stimulation\, this event promises a delightful experience for everyone. \n \nThis exceptional event is made possible through a partnership between the esteemed Santa Monica Chess Club and Downtown Santa Monica\, Inc. These organizations are passionate about promoting chess and fostering a strong sense of community. Together\, they aim to provide a platform for chess enthusiasts to come together\, share their love for the game\, and create lasting memories. \n\n \nABOUT SANTA MONICA BAY CHESS CLUB\nSome early highlights of the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club \n\n\n1949: the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club won the annual Los Angeles County team championship. \n\n\n1949: the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club won the California Interclub Championship after defeating the Castle Chess Club. \n\n\n1965: March\, Ed Kennedy and Norman Lessing tied for 1st in the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club Masters & Experts Invitational. \n\n\n1968: Peter Rhee won the O.H. Wentcher Memorial\, formerly the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club Championship. \n\n\n1969: Ken Morrisey won the Otto Wentcher Memorial (Santa Monica Bay Chess Club championship). Art Spiller took 2nd place. \n\n\n1977: June\, the strongest championship tournament of the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club was held. John Peters\, Roy Ervin\, Allan Pollard\, and Tibor Weinberger all tied for 1st place. \n\n\nHosted the American Open for many years. \n\n\n  \nST. ANDREW’S CHURCH HALL\, 11555 National Blvd. Los Angeles \nProbably the oldest chess club still operating in the Los Angeles area\, the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club (SMBCC) has survived the fading of the Bobby Fischer boost (following the 1972 World Championship that had spawned the huge renaissance of American chess)\, the computer chess boom\, the on-line chess revolution that continues\, the growth of the region’s traffic that made commutes of any great length impractical\, the proliferation of new more localized clubs to compete with\, and the real estate boom of the Westside leaving most former venues unaffordable. SUMMARY:The Venice Oceanarium
DESCRIPTION:SUNDAYS- Venice Beach Pier\nVenice Oceanarium EVERY SUNDAY\, 11am – 2pm. @ Venice Pier. A Museum without Walls teaches kids about Marine Biology & the Santa Monica Bay!  \nOur oceanographic display includes rare specimens\, shark jaws\, and historical artifacts. Be a Citizen Scientist and help us gather ocean data from our water testing kits. Observe grains of sand and seawater samples under our microscopes. Read ocean-inspired poetry\, draw\, and learn about the sea life just beneath the pier. We have new enlightening programs every week. \nThe pier juts 1000 feet out over the open sea\, with saltwater breezes and spectacular coastline views! Besides our marine specimens\, you’ll see migratory birds perched on the pilings\, dolphins\, interesting catches reeled in\, and local surfer species. \n \nThe Venice Oceanarium is a non-profit based in Venice Beach\, California. Just steps away from the world-famous Venice Boardwalk\, there are ecosystems teeming with wildlife waiting to be explored. Since 1995\, countless people have enjoyed our outdoor classrooms through hands-on learning. \nOUR MISSION is to ignite a passion for the abundance\, diversity\, and significance of the web of life in our ocean and its shores. The Venice Oceanarium emphasizes the powerful and enduring emotional and aesthetic influences of the oceans on human culture. \nOUR VISION is to build a permanent exhibit on the Venice Pier that educates and inspires visitors about the unique and wondrous life forms in our local ocean. \n\nAbout Venice Oceanarium\nBack in 1995 our founder\, Tim Rudnick\, organized a weekend-long marathon reading of Moby-Dick at the Venice Beach breakwater. Reliving life aboard a whaling ship and Melville’s soul-searching journey while the group huddled for warmth on the sand was a transformative experience. Tim realized the importance of learning outside of the traditional classroom and founded the Venice Oceanarium\, a Museum Without Walls. \n \nThis concept of blending the arts and sciences is the core of our programming. We believe that our integrative curriculum inspires kids of all ages to be stewards of our precious oceans. \nOver the years we’ve expanded our outreach to include our highly anticipated annual grunion party\, weekly Marine Biology pop-up labs at the end of the Venice Pier\, classes at local schools and youth centers\, tidepool talks\, wetland walks\, and other excursions. \nVenice Beach: An Urban Coastal Park\n \nVenice Beach is a wonderful juxtaposition of urban life and natural wonder. Just steps from the world-famous Venice Beach Boardwalk’s street artists and performers are miles of beautiful shoreline to explore. Wide sandy beaches\, crashing waves\, shells\, seaweed\, birds\, and other wildlife coexist with surfers\, sunbathers\, and sandcastles. \nThe tidepools at the Venice Beach Breakwater are teeming with wildlife (to be enjoyed with your eyes only) as the iconic and colorful Venice graffiti walls loom in the background. There’s a secret reef\, and beautiful wetlands\, and on a clear day\, you can see Malibu and Catalina Island. \nMillions of locals and visitors enjoy our beaches. Few stop to really appreciate the rare treasures it has to offer. Our mission is to excite\, engage and inspire kids of all ages to appreciate our unique urban coast. \nExperiential Learning\n \nThe Venice Oceanarium is a Museum Without Walls. Our programs combine science with the arts to encourage kids (of all ages) to appreciate the environment and therefore become stewards of our oceans. We believe that this integrative curriculum of poetry\, literature\, music\, drawing\, and performance arts teaches by experiencing the world around us on a more profound level than books and classrooms alone provide. \nWe design our events and activities to raise awareness of the natural wonders of Venice Beach. Join us on our learning expedition! \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.veniceoceanarium.org/programs\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

We feature Cooking for Kids with vegan chef Acooba Scott. Kids use farmers’ market ingredients for tasty\, hands-on fun! All are welcome at this complimentary class. \nWho’s Acooba?\nA vegetarian all her adult life\, Acooba is an accomplished vegetarian and vegan chef. She offers several classes and workshops\, providing support for those interested in starting or sustaining a vegetarian lifestyle. \nAlso For KIDS!\n \nMar Vista Farmers’ Market offers a free craft workshop each week for our younger visitors. There is a different project each time – plus face painting.  Come join us and Sandra Brandoli and  Liza Vosbigian! \n  \n\n \n3826 Grand View Blvd. Los Angeles\, CA 90066 \n  \n\nMar Vista is your neighborhood Certified Farmers Market – selling the freshest fruits\, flowers and veggies at their peak\, directly to consumers. Straight from California family farms to your table. Bon appetit! \nBegun in 1977\, the Certified Farmers Market (CFM) program exempted farmers from prior packing\, sizing and labeling requirements. According to the California Department of Food & Agriculture\, this has a number of benefits to consumers and the agricultural community: CFMs — \n\n\nBring fresh\, high quality goods from producers and create a diverse market. \n\n\n Give consumers opportunities to meet the farmer and learn how their food supply is produced. \n\n\n Provide a great opportunity for small farmers to market their products without the added expenses of commercial preparation. This increases their net income and makes it possible for them to stay in business. \n\n\n Offer a flexible marketing alternative without disrupting other produce marketing systems. \n\n\nThere are approximately 800 Certified Farmers Markets in California and approximately 2\,500 certified producers. Of these markets\, 50% are year-round markets. The balance are seasonal\, generally operating from April through October. \n\nHours\n4th Sunday of the Month: 10:00am – 2:00pm\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.marvistafarmersmarket.org\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n  \n

You can find our full review of Pluto TV HERE. \n  \n \nWhat is Pluto TV? \nWell let’s see. We could pen a historical essay about our 2013 origins. \n \nWe could toss around numbers like 100s of channels\, 200+ content partners\, and 26+ million viewers. We could even drone on about our huge library of on-demand content which spans across all genres of movies\, news\, TV shows\, sports\, documentaries\, and blah blah blahhh… \nBut why complicate things when Pluto TV is\, at its core\, really simple? \nAll you really need to know is… it’s free of passwords\, it’s free of payments\, and it’s free of all those Friday night spats about what to watch. \nPluto TV is a free live-stream television and on-demand video service from ViacomCBS. \n  \n\n\n\nSo just lean back. Drop in and enjoy the show. It’s free.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat will I Find on Pluto TV?\n\n\nLIVE TV\n\n\n\n\nBlockbuster Movies\n \nComedy\n \nCult Classics\n \n\nKids & Family Friendly Programing \n\n\nSports\n \nNews\n\n\nLatino\n \n\n\nWatch on your \nSmart TV\, Streaming Devices\, Mobile App\, Desktop App or Watch On The Web\n\n\n \n\nOwned by ViacomCBS\, Pluto TV is a live-TV streaming service\, not entirely unlike Sling TV and such competitors as DirecTV Now\, Hulu+ Live TV\, or other similar services. But unlike those services which offer streaming access to channels you’d find on cable TV\, Pluto TV offers free content mainly curated from what’s already available online. Pluto TV launched in 2014 and picked up steam fairly quickly making it the largest free TV streaming service in the U.S. \nYou’re not going to find standard TV channels\, though some are represented via their web counterparts\, especially news outlets. Those include familiar names like Bloomberg\, Cheddar\, CNBC\, MSNBC\, CBSN\, and many others. As of April 2019\, it also includes CNN\, though not the full\, live CNN you get on cable. Instead\, the CNN channel features a curated playlist of short-form digital content from CNN’s anchors and reporters. Featured clips are oriented toward lifestyle and culture\, climate change\, the environment\, and original CNN investigations and interviews. A similar channel for NBC called NBC News Now arrived in February 2020. Other recent additions to Pluto include CMT\, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud\, and Red Bull TV\, plus a handful of new themed channels in Celebrity\, Reality\, and Lives\, the perfect cocktail for pop culture and reality TV enthusiasts. \nSports coverage is less conventional — you’re not going to find the likes of ESPN here. Instead\, you’ll find choices like Fight\, World Poker Tour\, Impact Wrestling\, a dedicated Sports News network\, Glory Kickboxing\, and the Big Sky Network. DAZN recently signed a deal to provide an original weekly series on Pluto TV\, and there’s potential for that partnership to expand down the line. Pluto has recently added an official PGA Tour channel with 24/7 coverage of one of golf’s biggest tournaments. \nIn the Entertainment section\, there are reruns of reality and documentary shows alongside episodes of Dennis the Menace\, Thunderbirds\, and other older TV shows. Among those various channels\, you’ll also find Wipeout\, a network that only shows reruns of the popular game show and various iterations from different countries\, as well as Nosey\, which shows reruns of The Jerry Springer Show and The Maury Show\, among others. Meanwhile\, the Curiosity section features Science TV\, Docu TV\, Xive TV\, and even a NASA live stream. New additions include Pluto TV Sitcoms\, offering a selection of older comedies like 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Lucy Show\, and a Spanish-language channel called Pluto TV Cine. \n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the Pluto TV website @ \npluto.tv\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:KCRW Summer Nights
DESCRIPTION:EVERY SATURDAY- California Plaza   \nKCRW Summer Nights is BACK! KCRW & Grand Performances are teaming up for an extraordinary night in honor of the 20th Anniversary of Afro Funke’! Come celebrate the legacy of the once-weekly party night that turned global\, with live performances from Rocky Dawuni and Buyepongo\, plus DJ sets from Afro Funke’ residents Glenn Red and KCRW’s Jeremy Sole. \nJoin us for Afrobeat\, Latin\, Brazilian\, Indian\, Jamaican\, and other traditional and remixed world rhythms\, plus African drumming and dancing\, DJ Culture\, arts & crafts\, and much more! \n \nAll Grand Performances Shows take place Saturdays 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm\, at The California Plaza\, 350 South Grand AvenueLos Angeles\, CA\, 90071\n\n\nRocky Dawuni\n\n\nAfro Funke’ founder\, Rocky Dawuni with his full 10-piece “Afro Roots Band” will headline the night. The three-time GRAMMY-nominated musician and activist straddles the boundaries between Africa\, the Caribbean\, and the U.S. to create his appealing Afro Roots sound that unites generations and cultures. \nhttps://rockydawuni.com/ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuyepongo\nHometown favorites\, Buyepongo make contemporary pan-Latin music in the style they intriguingly call “buyangú” — an eclectic but cohesive mezcla of global beats and spicy flavors influenced by their California home base as well as the band members’ travels to Central and South America. \nhttps://buyepongo.bandcamp.com/ \n\n\nJeremy Sole\nJeremy Sole’s upbringing was seeped in the rich Chicago history of Blues\, Jazz\, Disco\, Salsa and Soul – and he reveled in that space where they all blend together. As a teenager\, Sole threw loft parties that were a culture clash during the birth of Hip Hop and House music. His obsession grew to include music from every corner of the world and\, in 2001\, Sole moved to LA. With a broad musical palette\, he felt right at home in the spiciest melting pot in the country. \nIn April 2006\, Sole was in the studio working with Ms. Lauryn Hill. After hearing him mix\, she asked if he had ever considered getting into radio\, “…because this is the music the people need to hear”. Months later\, KCRW called to ask him that same question\, and since then you can hear him Wednesdays from 12-3am on 89.9FM and KCRW.com. \nhttps://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/jeremy-sole \n\n\nGlenn Red\nKnown primarily for his work as half of Santa Monica’s legendary Afro Funké Sound System and one-third of beloved Afro-Latin deejay/producer collective\, La Junta\, GLENN RED quietly continues to forge a loyal following among fans of eclectic music\, steadily rocking crowds in the city’s most respected venues alongside the finest selectors and musicians from around the world. With the honest music of passionate artists as a common thread\, his deejay sets weave fluidly through time and across genres\, connecting the traditional sounds of Africa and the Americas with their modern expressions around the globe. Afrobeat\, Cumbia\, Rumba\, and Samba rhythms embrace Funk\, Soul\, Hip-Hop\, and Reggae\, as Glenn’s rhythmic and multifaceted sound echoes the deep\, colorful\, and spirited energy of LA and its soulful people. \nhttps://glennred.com \n\n \nAbout KCRW Summer Nights: \nKCRW Summer Nights is BACK! SUMMARY:Forest Lawn Museum
DESCRIPTION:NOW ON EXHIBIT – Forest Lawn Museum\, Glendale\nEnriching the community through artwork. The Forest Lawn Museum first opened in 1952 and is located adjacent to the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection at Forest Lawn – Glendale.  Forest Lawn’s founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, wrote in his Builder’s Creed that our park should be “a place where artists study and sketch; where school teachers bring happy children to see the things they read of in books.” In that spirit\, the Forest Lawn Museum displays a permanent collection\, as well as world-class rotating exhibits. With engaging special exhibits and free educational and artistic activities\, there is always something new to experience. \n \nForest Lawn Museum is located within Forest Lawn-Glendale (1712 S. Glendale Ave\, Glendale\, CA 91205). Enter the main gate on Glendale Ave and follow signs to the top of the hill. Admission is free and there’s plenty of free parking!\nEmail museum@forestlawn.com to schedule your free group tour today. \nHealth and Safety Precautions\nFor the health and safety of visitors and staff\, wearing a mask indoors is recommended\, but no longer mandatory. A free face mask is available upon request. Touch-free hand-sanitizer stations are available for visitors. Thank you for helping us stay safe and healthy. We look forward to your visit! \n\nIn addition to the museum\, statues\, and architecture displayed around our parks. Forest Lawn offers several ongoing exhibits that are free to the public.\n \nThe Great Mausoleum at 100\nOn May 2\, 1920\, Forest Lawn dedicated the Great Mausoleum. On May 2\, 2020\, we recognize the centennial of this monumental building. Construction began in 1917 and only one level was complete at the dedication ceremony. The building now has 11 terraces\, dozens of sculptures\, and more than 100 stained glass windows. It has endured through the Great Depression\, World War II\, and into the 21st century. Even in the difficult times that we’re currently experiencing\, we look forward to another hundred years of history with the Great Mausoleum. \n\n \n1712 S Glendale Ave.\, Glendale\, CA 91205 \nSince our founding\, Forest Lawn has committed itself to providing outstanding service and beautiful environments for family outings\, remembering loved ones\, and commemorating holidays. Whether you are planning how to help your loved ones remember you\, memorializing someone special in your life\, or joining us for holiday events like Easter or Memorial Day\, we invite you to visit Forest Lawn. \n\nServing Families for More Than 100 Years\nSince its founding in 1906\, Forest Lawn has been an integral part of the community it serves. Our Founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, profoundly changed the funeral business by transforming Forest Lawn Memorial-Park into a place for the living. By combining the mortuary and cemetery sides of the business\, Eaton achieved his goal\, making Forest Lawn a beautiful setting for services\, weddings\, baptisms\, and family excursions. After 100 years of service\, the Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks remain a place for the living and a true community resource. \nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Sunday: 10:00am – 5:00pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nforestlawn.com/museum\n \n  \nFind more

Like monuments and national anthems\, they intend to create a sense of identity-based on a shared past\, present\, and future. \nLike many other governments\, the communist countries of the twentieth century produced an abundance of flags and banners. They were omnipresent at military parades\, sports events\, and public gatherings. Apart from national flags\, many organizations produced their own richly decorated flags and banners. The Wende Museum holds over 2\,000 of these ornamental textiles in its collection. \nMartin Roemers: Relics of the Cold War\n \nDuring an eleven-year period\, from 1998 through 2009\, Dutch photographer Martin Roemers photographed the structural and topographic remnants of the Cold War in both the East and West. His research took him to Russia\, Poland\, Czech Republic\, Ukraine\, Latvia\, Lithuania\, Great Britain\, Netherlands\, Belgium\, and Germany\, where he documented underground tunnels\, abandoned army bases\, military training areas\, rotting tanks\, and destroyed monuments. \nLight–guard–house: Installation by Farrah Karapetian\n \nThe 20-square-foot aluminum guardhouse that sat outside the ADN headquarters in East Berlin from 1971–92 is both an artifact of an atmosphere of mistrust and representative of past and current political protectionism. Artist Farrah Karapetian will turn this structure into a lighthouse\, changing a gesture of suspicion into a gesture of welcome. The windows of the guardhouse will be tinted in a rainbow gradient encompassing all of the colors potentially included in national flags. Over the course of Wende’s concurrent exhibition\, The Medium is the Message: Flags and Banners\, Karapetian will engage with the public about experiences they have had as migrants. As the stories accumulate and become available on the museum’s website\, the light inside the lighthouse will pause at the various colors associated with the flags of the respective national borders crossed. Rather than the finality of immigration\, the artist’s focus is the prevalence of migration\, asking visitors: What experiences of welcome or mistrust have occurred as you have moved internationally? How have they colored your life in their wake? \n\n \n10808 Culver Blvd.\, Culver City\, CA 90230 \n \nThe Wende is an art museum\, historical archive of the Cold War\, and center for creative community engagement that explores and inspires change.  \nThe Wende reaches beyond the conventional walls of a museum and places equal value on an international scholarship\, community engagement\, digital access\, and wide-ranging experimentation. \nWende is a German word meaning “turning point” or “change” that has come to describe the transformative period around the fall of the Berlin Wall. Founded in 2002\, the Wende Museum holds an unparalleled collection of art and artifacts from the Cold War era\, which serves as a foundation for programs that illuminate political and cultural changes of the past\, offer opportunities to make sense of a  changing present\, and inspire active participation in personal and social change for a better future. \nThe Wende fulfills its mission of exploring and inspiring change through \n\ncollecting\, preserving\, and providing open access to artwork\, artifacts\, archives\, films\, and personal histories from the sphere touched by socialism during the Cold War era (1945– 1991);\npromoting rigorous scholarship\, educating students\, and stimulating general interest through lectures\, symposia\, publications\, and providing access to digitized collections;\npresenting experimental exhibitions and interdisciplinary programming inspired by the collection;\nfacilitating creative collaborations with contemporary artists and designers;\npartnering with other nonprofit organizations; and\nproviding community services such as wellness programs\, opportunities for civic engagement\, and family-friendly activities.\n\nCore Strengths\n\n\nThe Wende Museum’s collection and intellectual activities have achieved notable strength in four areas of specialization: German Democratic Republic; Wende Moments; Personal Histories and Everyday Life; and Public and Private Interaction. \n\nHours\nMonday – Thursday: Closed\nFriday – Sunday: 10:00am – 5:00pm \n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.wendemuseum.org\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

At the time\, Los Angeles was the country’s tenth-most-populous city—and downtown was the epicenter of a flourishing metropolis. \nToday\, the Market’s 40 stalls are home to an only-in-LA blend of legacy vendors like China Cafe and Roast To Go (Grand Central Market tenants for over half a century)\, rising stars\, and success stories from the city’s buzzing food scene. SUMMARY:Net Cruze Coffee and Cars
DESCRIPTION:Net Cruze Cars And Coffee- Westchester\, California\nNet Cruze Cars And Coffee events have been going for decades.  And that was news to me upon my first stop in mid-August. \nBut they’re in a new location.  And it’s kind of tricky in that it’s a huge parking lot behind the 99-cents store in Westchester.  Further\, this is a cool event worth checking out for sure. \nSo cars from the ’30s through ’50s are pretty well represented.  And that’s both originals and customs.  Then\, when I was there\, there was a Corvette Club represented too.  All newer C7s but nicely done as well. \nBut everyone and everything is welcome.  For instance\, there was an older Bronco\, a newer Porsche\, and even a Studebaker on hand. \nAdditionally\, the organizers offered coffee and pastries.  Plus a raffle drawing toward the end that kept everyone on hand for cash prizes\, gas cards\, and even handbags for the ladies. \n\n \n1939 Buick \n\nNet Cruze Cars And Coffee – Westchester\, California\nLocation: 6835 La Tijera Blvd.\nAdmission: Free\nVehicle registration: Free \n  \nHours\n2nd and 4th Saturdays: 9:00am – 12:00pm \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.idrivesocal.com\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

Walk about 2 minutes down the Bluff to the 9/11 Memorial Tree. \n \nWho will be teaching the yoga classes? Will the classes be beginner-friendly? \nWe have an awesome team of Hike to Yoga LA Yoga Teachers\, including Hike to Yoga LA Founder\, Laurie\, who enjoys teaching her signature Yoga Wave Circle!\nOur teacher team is diverse in age and body-type\, and are ready to inspire you with community\, nature and of course\, yoga!\nYoga class is 60 minutes long\, starts promptly at 9 am. Please be on time as it is distracting to join when class has already started. \n \nWhat should I bring?\nYour yoga mat\, yoga towel\, beach towel\, or just do yoga on the earth! (Might be wet from morning dew!) It is advisable that you have a mat strap or backpack since you are responsible for your own mat!\nDon’t forget your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated; there is a water fountain by the Bluff area. \n \nWhat happens after the Hike to Yoga classes? How do I get back to the meeting point? \nThe Park to Playa trail is flat and should take about 15-20 minutes to get back to the Don Lorenzo and La Brea meeting point. \n\nREGISTER ONLINE FOR FREE TICKETS\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.HiketoYogaLA.com\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
