Grand Avenue\, Los Angeles\, CA 90012\n\nThe Broad makes its collection of contemporary art from the 1950s to the present accessible to the widest possible audience by presenting exhibitions and operating a lending program to art museums and galleries worldwide. \nBy actively building a dynamic collection that features in-depth representations of influential contemporary artists and by advancing education and engagement through exhibitions and diverse public programming\, the museum enriches\, provokes\, inspires\, and fosters appreciation of art of our time. \n \nThe Broad was founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler\, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to 2\,000 works of art in the Broad collection\, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. \n  \n \nThe Broad from Home\nThe Broad is committed to inspiring and fostering an appreciation of contemporary art through our digital initiatives. Experience #TheBroadFromHome to find inspiration through music\, poetry\, performance\, workshops\, and conversations centered around the Broad collection. \nOverview \nPerformances \nTalks & Conversations \nArtist Spotlight \nFamily Art Workshops \nMore Online Programs \n  \nThe Broad Collection\nEli and Edythe Broad have been building their collection of postwar and contemporary art over the last 50 years. With a belief that the greatest art collections are built when the art is being made\, the Broads took to collecting art of their own time. \nThe Broad is home to 2\,000 works in the Broad collection by more than 200 artists\, and is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. The collection features in-depth holdings of influential contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat\, Mark Bradford\, Jasper Johns\, Jeff Koons\, Barbara Kruger\, Yayoi Kusama\, Kerry James Marshall\, Julie Mehretu\, Takashi Murakami\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, Cindy Sherman\, Cy Twombly\, Andy Warhol\, and more\, plus an ever-growing representation of younger artists. \n  \nView Our Collection Here\n \nIn Under the Table\, 1994\, the viewer is both in the world of imaginary giants and in the world of remembered childhood. Fusing Alice in Wonderland with the Duchampian tradition of the readymade\, Artist Robert Therrien constructs a doppelganger from an everyday object\, both displaying his visual wit and actualizing literary or imaginative fantasy in three-dimensional space. The table exudes an extraordinary aura\, compelling one to walk underneath the table and conjuring the physical memory of being under the table of one’s childhood home. Complicated and powerful\, the work offers fresh ideas of what a table\, sculpture\, and memory can mean. \n  \n  \n \nUsing the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog\, Koons has frozen a moment in time\, exaggerating both scale and material. \nBalloon Dog (Blue) is literal and abstract. When standing close to it\, one’s own distorted reflection bends around smooth pert curves. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission is Free\nAll visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance. Some exhibitions and events carry a separate charge. \n\n\n\n\n\nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Wednesday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.\nThursday – Friday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.\nSaturday: 10:00 a.m.-8:00p.m.\nSunday: 10:00 a.m.-6:00p.m. \n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.thebroad.org/visit/mirror-rooms\n \n  \nFind more

A panel discussion will be followed by Q&A and book signing. \nRick Castro is a photographer\, filmmaker\, and writer who has lived and worked in Los Angeles for his entire life. He made his first image in 1986 and from then on immersed himself in homoerotic fetish photography. In 1996\, he directed Hustler White\, starring Bruce LaBruce. From 2005 to 2017\, he owned and operated Antebellum Gallery\, the only fetish art gallery in America. Over the course of his career\, he has created portraits of Gore Vidal\, Kenneth Anger\, Ron Athey\, Alice Bag\, Peter Berlin\, Michele Lamy\, and the 14th Dalai Lama. He has collaborated on fashion editorial for Christian Dior Homme\, Cartier\, and Rick Owens. His publications include Castro (DPR Press\, 1990) and 13 Years of Bondage: The Photography of Rick Castro (Fluxion Editions\, 2004). He regularly posts new imagery at instagram.com/castrrick. \nSam Sweet is a writer\, publisher\, and archivist specializing in lost heroes and miniatures histories of Los Angeles. He is best known as the author of ALL NIGHT MENU\, a collection of L.A. microhistories spread across five booklets. Each volume contains eight addresses and each address connects to a different time period\, subculture\, and section of the city. ALL NIGHT MENU has since grown to encompass visual publications\, a photographic archive\, and an oral history series. His work can be found at samsweet.info and allnight-menu.com. \n  \n \nGirl Internet Show: A Kati Kelli Mixtape\nTuesday\, June 27\, 2023\, 8pm \nBrain Dead Studios\, 611 N Fairfax Ave\, Los Angeles\, CA 90036 \nFree\, Reservations Required (Reservation link available soon) \n  \nThis brand-new feature-length “mixtape” unearths and reintroduces a stunning\, singular body of work by the enigmatic Kati Kelli\, an outsider video artist and digital native whose subversive online uploads push at the seams of the digital form. For nearly a decade before her passing in 2019\, Kati ran “Girl Internet Show\,” a YouTube channel\, parasocial experiment\, and epically deranged one-woman universe built from scratch in her bedroom. This hand-made mixtape by Jane Schoenbrun and Jordan Wippell features a lovingly curated selection of Kati’s online work\, unreleased videos\, and her first (and final) short film opus “Total Body Removal Surgery.” A discussion with filmmaker Jordan Wippell will follow the screening. \n  \n \nCAN YOU FEEL IT? The world’s fastest light-based fencing\, is happening every Wednesday Night @ Mike’s Bike Shop- 5507 West Pico Blvd\, at Beverlywil Dr\, Century City. @ 7:30pm to 9:30pm. \nCONTACT TONY FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION\,\n\nContact Tony for the latest information. www.facebook.com/tony.zaldua \n  \n\n\n\nLearn to Fight like a Jedi Knight- BEGIN YOUR TRAINING HERE!\nStep by step instructions for individuals \nwww.LightSpeed-Saber.Com/get-started \nwww.twitch.tv/lightspeedsaber \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile you don’t have to do everything in this guide\, it’s a good way to begin\, especially if there is already an existing team near you. (Please note that\, due to COVID-19\, teams are in various states of operation at this time.) \n  \n\n\n\n\nSTEP 1 – CONNECT TO US\n\n\n\n\n\nWe do different things in different places around the web\, from our Instagram to our YouTube channel\, where you’ll find the Lightspeed Saber Rogue Series\, to our TikTok where you can enjoy short snippets from the show! But the place to talk to us is our international Facebook group. \n  \n \nSTEP 2 – CONNECT TO OTHERS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFind individuals or teams near you! \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 3 – GET A SABER\nYou don’t technically need an actual LED saber to start learning but it helps to familiarize yourself early. We recommend the Rey-class for your first Lightspeed Saber. Check the weapon class page for regulations to make sure the hilt you purchase is Lightspeed legal. \nNote that you do not need a Lightspeed blade to start practicing moves. You only need one once you begin competing. The standard blade that comes with your purchase should be fine for the time being. \n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 4 – LEARN BASIC MOVES AND CONCEPTS\nWe have tons of free information available for Lightspeed Saber fencing. But if you’re practicing alone\, you may want to learn our sequences. This is a growing library of technical exercises that help you fine tune your technique without a partner. You can do this on your own and evaluate yourself\, or you can enroll in our program\, where we’ll evaluate you to make sure you’re doing everything right. You can even get certified to evaluate others. \n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 5 – GET EQUIPMENT\nTo do Lightspeed Saber fencing you need to be properly equipped. This activity is dangerous. Make sure that you have everything listed on this page. And don’t forget about a mouth and nose covering to protect yourself and others from spreading disease. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 6 – LEARN AND PRACTICE BASIC SPARRING TECHNIQUES & STRATEGY\nOur YouTube channel is probably the best source of information for practical Lightspeed Saber fencing. Look for our instructionals and commentaries. \n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 7 – LEARN THE RULES OF COMPETITIVE LIGHTSPEED SABER\nLearn the rules of Lightspeed Saber fencing so you’re ready for your first official duel. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nSTEP 8 – COMPETE!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRemember\, practice is practice and competition is practice. Nothing gets you learning faster than a tournament. \n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP 9 – GO OFFICIAL\nGet a competition membership and start moving up the ladder in your local area. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSIGN UP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTEP ????\nBecome the #1 Lightspeed Saber fencer in the world? Brews Brothers are our take on serving an ever-changing selection of the best beers in LA’s growing craft beer market. \n \nNorth Hollywood: \nOur dynamic forty-two taps include combinations of American strong ales\, Belgian strong ales\, Barrel Aged beers\, IPAs\, light beers\, wheat beers\, unique one-offs\, and various other styles. \n \nWe also have house-made Kombucha\, three beers on nitro\, and a couple of seasonal ciders. We interchange our taps often\, replacing existing beers with ones of similar styles\, so there is always something new to try! \n \nOur food menu consists of artisan sandwiches\, fresh salads\, and several small bite options. All food is made with high-quality ingredients – no hormones\, no chemicals\, and no preservatives. \nWHO ARE THE BREWS BROTHERS?\n \nBillie and Joey have been involved with the LA Craft Beer scene for over a decade – watching it grow from nearly nothing to the massive and ever-expanding market it is today. \nOver the years the brothers have watched and helped numerous beer bars and restaurant owners successfully open and operate their establishments. \nBillie and Joey have brewed over 240 batches of beer along with a few collaborations with some of the more established breweries in California. They intend to continue to collaborate with more breweries in the future. \nDuring their many visits to Belgium\, along with numerous trips around the country\, they previewed many beer shops and were impressed with the large variety of beer selections offered. They knew they had the experience and passion for creating something similar at home. \nBillie and Joey now bring this love\, knowledge\, and expertise to bring you “BREWS BROTHERS” \nHOURS\nMonday – Thursday: 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm\nFriday – Saturday: 12:00 pm – 12:00 am\nSunday: 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.brewsbrotherscraftbeer.com/the-brewery\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Leather and Laughs @ EAGLE LA
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEDNESDAY- Silver Lake\nIndecent Exposure Comedy Show at the Eagle LA Bar in Silver Lake. Join us every Wednesday for a free comedy show at the Eagle LA! Watch the city’s top up-and-coming talent at the wildest show in town!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nIndecent Exposure Comedy Show Hours\nWednesday: 10:00pm – 11:00pm\n\n\n\n\n  \n \n4219 Santa Monica Blvd\, Los Angeles\, CA 90029 \n  \nLong-standing gay hot spot caters to a leather-wearing crowd\, with cheap beer nights & DJs. \n \nThe current location of Eagle LA has served home to many gay bars over the years dating back 44 years. It was known as the Shed from 1968-1972\, The Outcast from 1972-1983\, the famous Gauntlet II from 1983-2005\, then later\, Eagle LA. \n \nGauntlet II was in operation for 21 years. Then\, in the summer of 2005 Charlie and business partner Vince decided to buy the bar with the intention of making a name change. In April 2006\, Eagle LA was born\, or\, reborn as it may be. There was an original Eagle LA located in West Hollywood at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax. It operated for 15 years and closed in 1995. Although that Eagle is of no relation to Charlie or Vince\, they are proud to reestablish the Eagle LA and become the latest in a long line of Eagle bars in cities throughout the US and around the world. It has always been their mission to uphold the Leather/Uniform/Fetish traditions set forth by the infamous Eagle name and that traditions still holds true today. \n \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://eaglela.com/home/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

Grand Avenue\, Los Angeles\, CA 90012\nThe Broad makes its collection of contemporary art from the 1950s to the present accessible to the widest possible audience by presenting exhibitions and operating a lending program to art museums and galleries worldwide. Party with the highest energy and sing your heart out to the music! \n \nJoin Briggs Upstairs for a smooth mix of r&b\, hip hop and rap. \nBriggs is well known as a DJ\, A&R\, Songwriter\, and Creative Director. Briggs was born and raised in Los Angeles\, California. He is known for playing 90s 2000s hip hop and R&B sprinkled in with the now top 40s hits. His party’s take you back along memory lane all while keeping you moving and singing the whole night. \nWith Special Guest appearances every week bringing you the best 90s\, 2000s\, Hip-Hop\, R&B\, and Afrobeats! Party like never before!! \nSEE YOU THERE! \n21+ / Free for everyone. \n\n \n929 South Broadway Los Angeles\, CA 90015 United States \n \nIn historic Downtown Los Angeles\, where the grit meets the glamour.\nWelcome to Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles\, where the grit meets the glamour! Located on Broadway and 9th Street at the southernmost point of the Broadway Histroic Theater District\, offers seven fresh and minimalist rooms and suites. Not only do they serve palette-bursting delicacies in their restaurant\, but you can also head up to its rooftop bar where you can dip in their pool while sipping cool drinks by day and attend jaw-dropping parties at night! \n \nThe main attraction is the restored United Artists THeater which occupies three floors of the 13-story building and has a 1\,600-seat auditorium. The building stands as a shining monument to the American artistic spirit and theatrical history. The theater exemplifies the love of Spanish castles and cathedral stonework. \n \nBuilt in 1927 as the flagship movie palace for United Artists — the maverick film studio founded by Mary Pickford\, Douglas Fairbanks\, D.W Griffith\, and Charlie Chaplin — The Theatre at Ace Hotel is our loving reanimation of one of the city’s most remarkable gems. It’s a delicately restored\, 1\,600-seat cathedral to the arts\, with a three-story\, 2\,300 square foot grand lobby\, an ornate open balcony\, and a vaulted ceiling dotted with thousands of mirrors that glimmer like tiny stars. \n \nSince returning The Theatre to its storied splendor\, we’ve played host to hundreds of meaningful\, nearly sacred\, wholly rock and roll experiences: large-scale concerts\, major movie premieres\, sold-out dance performances — if it fits inside the proscenium\, we’ve probably presented it. Retrofitted with a state-of-the-art digital projection system and cinema sound\, an independent\, ultramodern live sound system\, plus an elaborate contemporary stage lighting system\, The Theatre at Ace Hotel is a radically inclusive stage fit for our heart’s royalty — artists\, musicians\, visionaries and cultural igniters. \n\nVersatile spaces made for memories of all shapes and sizes\n \n\nWhether you’re hosting a concert\, film screening\, holiday soiree\, workshop\, record launch\, dinner\, reception\, or something all your own\, we’ve got the canvas\, menus\, and staff to make it amazing. Get all the details and anything you need when you reach out to the team. \nWe believe in celebrations of all sizes\, there’s no reason too big or too small to mark the moment. Flexible enough to suit whatever you’ve got in mind\, Ace Hotel DTLA’s private spaces hold the magnetism of Old Hollywood within a glorious Spanish Gothic structure. \n \nGo for cinematic sights and the pool Upstairs\, host a cozy café-like affair on the Mezzanine or truly throw something for the ages in our magical movie palace next door. Each of our spaces is a generous canvas\, adaptable for everything from culinary workshops\, record launches\, dinners\, receptions\, or whatever you need us to be. \n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.eventbrite.com/e/the-deep-end-tickets\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:AMIR’S GARDEN
DESCRIPTION:OPEN YEAR ROUND- Griffith Park\nThe Trail to Amir’s Garden is a 1.1 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located LA’s Griffith Park. This shady rest stop and memorial garden features beautiful wild flowers and water-bearing\, fire-resistive succulents interspersed with natives and memorial trees and plants. The trail is primarily used for hiking\, walking\, running\, nature trips\, and horses and is accessible year-round. It is rated as moderately difficult trail. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe gardens are cared for by official volunteers since its creation in 1971. Amir’s Garden is considered a rest stop and not a dedicated picnic area\, therefore it can’t be reserved for events. The nearest restrooms are located at Mineral Wells Picnic Area. Activities related to the care of a large garden may be taking place at any time\, including watering. Amir’s Garden is a most pleasant place for a hike-in picnic\, with a selection of picnic tables.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe History of Amir’s Garden\nAmir Dialameh worked a steep hill in Griffith Park for than three decades with a pick and shovel and turned a scorched\, barren landscape into a lush\, shaded grove that is visited daily by a steady stream of hikers and horseback riders. \nFor thirty-two years\, Dialameh worked in the garden most days of the week\, hiking up a service road to the rugged Mineral Wells location. Over the years\, he planted pine and jacaranda trees along with rose bushes\, geraniums\, oleander\, and yucca that grew into the beautiful oasis it is today. \n“…what you need first and foremost here is shade\,” Dialameh explained in 1989. “That’s why I planted trees like the jacaranda. In ten years\, this place will be covered with their branches.” \nHis words were prophetic. Today Amir’s Garden is nearly five-acres of shady rest stop for Griffith Park’s hikers and equestrians. \nDialameh first came to appreciate nature as a child during hiking trips in the Alborz Mountains of his native Iran. As his love of hiking and nature developed\, so did his affinity for the United States of America. \n“I was intrigued by the volunteerism that built this country… people doing things instead of relying on the government.” In 1963 while visiting his brother in Pittsburgh\, Dialameh made the ultimate decision to immigrate and moved to the Los Angeles area. \n\n\nGetting There\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe hike to Amir’s Garden actually begins near one of Griffith Park’s larger picnic areas\, Mineral Well Picnic Area. Find the dirt service road heading west from the intersection of Griffith Park Drive and Mineral Wells Road. \nWalk straight through an immediate junction and follow the dirt road on a southwestern climb to Amir’s Garden. After a horseshoe bend in the road\, and a quarter mile from the start\, you will pass a water tower that is accompanied by broad views stretching beyond Griffith Park toward Glendale\, the Verdugo Mountains\, and San Gabriel Mountains. \n \nLooking back down the trail\nAfter less than half a mile\, the trail arrives at Amir’s Garden where you’ll discover a pocket of tall sycamores arcing over a mountainside of verdant plants including succulents like ice plant and jade. There are a few picnic tables at the entrance of Amir’s Garden and others hidden throughout. \n  \n \nAmir’s Garden\n\nStroll through a web of footpaths and recharge your batteries in this refreshing Griffith Park retreat. With extra effort\, you may continue up North Trail toward Mount Hollywood\, Mount Bell and other peaks in Griffith Park. Otherwise\, return the way you came for a satisfying 1-mile round trip hike. No fee or permit is required to hike to Amir’s Garden and dogs are welcome.\n\nTo get to the trailhead: Take the 5 Freeway to the Los Feliz Boulevard exit. Drive west on Los Feliz Boulevard to the first light and turn north on Crystal Springs Road. After 1.5 miles\, turn left on Griffith Park Drive and drive 1.2 miles to the intersection with Mineral Wells Road. Turn left onto Mineral Wells Road and park immediately in the spaces along the road. The trail to Amir’s Garden heads west from the intersection of Mineral Wells Road and Griffith Park Drive. \nTrailhead address: Mineral Wells Road & Griffith Park Drive\, Griffith Park\, Los Angeles\, CA 90027 \n\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttp://www.amirsgarden.org/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
