SUMMARY:Turtle Races at Brennan's
DESCRIPTION:EVERY 1ST & 3RD THURSDAY\n\n\nCome down to the Turtle Races at Brennan’s Bar & Restaurant\, every 1st and third Thursday\, and watch our star athletes put their track shoes on and tear up the track. \nYeah\, turtle races. It’s the real sport of kings\, and it’s found its home here at Brennan’s for 45 years. In 1975\, then-owner Ab Lawrence brought “the world’s stupidest sport” to Marina del Rey as a lark\, hoping that he could attract a few people for a couple of weeks. But the turtles knew how to draw a crowd\, so the races kept going. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere’s how it works\n\n\n\n\nEvery first and third Thursday\, the turtles come out of their turtle sanctuary and start limbering up. Come 8:30pm\, the first race starts and five turtles will enter the center of the ring. First one that makes it out of circle wins. It’s as simple as that! \nThink you’ve got a hot tip on who’s gonna win? Pay for a ticket to put your name in your favored turtle’s hat. If they win\, your name might get called—and you’ll get to win a prize from our prize wheel. Plus\, all of the money goes to charity! \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere’s only one rule…\n\n\nNo pointing! Our turtles get shy. If caught\, well… you’ll just have to come to a race to find out what the punishment is. \nForty-five years in\, and the turtles have shuffled out of the ring over 10\,000 times. Come visit us on the 1st and 3rd Thursday and take part in the tradition with us. But remember—don’t point! \n\n  \n\nHours\n1st & 3rd Thursdays: 8:30pm – 9:00pm\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.brennansla.com/turtle-races\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Jazz Pop at The Hammer Museum
DESCRIPTION:THURSDAYS – Hammer Museum\n\n\n\n\n\nJazz Pop returns in its 15th season with leading lights of West Coast jazz and improvised music in the Hammer courtyard! This edition showcases innovative SoCal and Bay Area bandleader-composers who explore a range of influences\, from hip hop to free jazz to Italian cinema\, featuring infectious grooves\, masterful improvisation\, and dynamic ensemble interplay. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMiguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble – August 4\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nMiguel Atwood-Ferguson\, 5-string electric violin\nDevin Daniels\, alto saxophone\nAlison Bjorkedal\, harp\nGreg Spero\, keyboard\nGabe Noel\, electric bass\nGene Coye\, drums\nPaul Taylor\, percussion \nViolinist\, composer\, and arranger Miguel Atwood-Ferguson regularly works with jazz\, classical\, hip-hop\, and pop stars\, performing as a sideperson with Flying Lotus\, Kamasi Washington\, and Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner\, and arranging music for the likes of Anderson. Paak.\, the Black Eyed Peas\, Dr. Dre\, and Questlove. Atwood-Ferguson brings this expansive and inclusive musical vision to his own projects\, creating a kaleidoscopic blend of artfully balanced urban grooves\, dreamy melodicism\, and daring orchestration. \nThis unique ensemble features a driving rhythm section\, harp\, saxophone\, and Atwood-Ferguson’s own virtuosic 5-string electric violin playing. “[Atwood-Ferguson] has become a kind of Wynton Marsalis or Gunther Schuller for the postsoul\, semijazz\, pacifist-hip-hop continuum: a leader of skilled ensembles\, a celebrator of repertories\, an organizer of legacies” (The New York Times). \n  \n \nTina Raymond Trio – August 11\n \nAndrew Renfroe\, guitar\nKarl McComas-Reichl\, bass\nTina Raymond\, drums \nIn her debut album\, Left\, Right\, Left\, Los Angeles drummer Tina Raymond explores America’s polarized politics through a set of patriotic hymns\, folk songs\, protest anthems\, and music by Woody Guthrie\, Joni Mitchell\, and Joan Baez. Her thesis is that concepts of left and right are integral to understanding both drumming technique and American political discourse. A first-call sideperson in the Southern California jazz community\, Raymond has performed and recorded with Bobby Bradford\, Jeff Parker\, Art Lande\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, and Vinny Golia\, among many others. Here she leads her guitar-bass-drums trio through a set of new and recent music that showcases her stellar musicianship and broad musical imagination. “Raymond displays ferocious chops and a remarkable sense of balance\, supporting the overall group sound as much as she asserts her individual voice” (Downbeat). \nPhillip Greenlief: Citta di Vitti – August 18\n \nPhillip Greenlief\, alto saxophone\nLisa Mezzacappa\, bass\nJason Levis\, drums \nIt’s hard to overstate the impact multi-reed player and composer Phillip Greenlief has had on the San Francisco Bay Area music community\, where he has been a performer\, ensemble leader\, and collaborator with musicians\, dancers\, and writers for more than three decades. A master improviser\, Greenlief has performed with creative music luminaries like Fred Frith\, Wadada Leo Smith\, and Joëlle Léandre\, and guested with rock bands like They Might Be Giants and Thelonious Monster. \nGreenlief is also a devout cinephile\, and his Citta di Vitti project is a collection of evocative\, jaunty\, moody compositions for trio (alto saxophone\, bass\, drums) that he composed to accompany the films of Michelangelo Antonioni\, whose muse\, the luminous actor Monica Vitti\, died in early 2022. “A ravishing\, spacious\, and angst-ridden set of tunes” (San Francisco Classical Voice). \n\nMEMBERSHIP GIVES YOU MORE\n\nHammer members enjoy front row access to JazzPOP concerts. Join or renew your membership today for the best seats in the courtyard\, reserved exclusively for Hammer members. \n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhammer.ucla.edu/programs-events/2022/jazzpop-2022\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n

The land art movement first appeared in the late 1960s and served to challenge the location\, material\, size\, and temporal existence of a work of art. Double Negative consists of two long straight trenches\, 30 feet wide and 50 feet deep\, cut into the “tabletop” of Mormon Mesa\, displacing 240\,000 tons of desert sandstone. The cuts face each other across an indentation in the plateaus’ scalloped perimeter\, forming a continuous image\, a thick linear volume that bridges and combines the “negative” space between them. \nmore info at: Double Negative \n\nAdmission to Double Negative by artist Michael Heizer is always free.\n\nHours\nMonday: 11:00 a.m.-6:00p.m.\nTuesday: Closed\nWednesday: 11:00 a.m.-6:00p.m.\nThursday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00p.m.\nFriday: 11:00 a.m.-6:00p.m.\nSaturday – Sunday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00p.m. \n  \nGeneral Admission: Free\nSpecial exhibitions: $18\nMembers: Free\nChildren under 12: Free\nSeniors and students: $10 \nSpecial exhibitions are free every Thursday\, 5-8pm.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.moca.org\n \n  \n\n\nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Santa Monica History Museum
DESCRIPTION:OPEN THURSDAY – SUNDAY- Santa Monica\nThe Santa Monica History Museum was founded under the “Historical Activities Committee” of Santa Monica’s Centennial Celebration in 1975 and by a public poll\, with their goal to collect\, preserve\, and be the caretaker of history. Its name at that time was the Santa Monica Historical Society and it was designated as the official collector and preserver of the history\, art\, and culture of the Santa Monica Bay Area. Former Mayor Clo Hoover\, the first woman mayor of Santa Monica\, was elected the first president. \n\nThe museum\, one of the largest in the country for a city the size of Santa Monica\, has grown far beyond expectations with an expansive collection of artifacts\, photographs\, and memorabilia. Thousands of hours have been dedicated to public education and museum services. \n \nWith the help of Louise and Bob Gabriel who had been active in the community for years and had a strong love for Santa Monica and its history took on the responsibility to make the museum a reality.  Within three years\, with determination\, perseverance\, and countless hours of work\, Bob headed the fundraising committee and raised the necessary funds. Louise was able to get all the furnishings for the museum donated by companies that were going out of business. We are committed to enriching our community by providing public access to our extensive collection with interpretive exhibitions\, public programs\, community partnerships\, and through archival and research services. \n\n\n\nCURRENT EXHIBITION FROM APRIL 1 – DECEMBER 23\, 2022\nBroadway to Freeway:\nLife and Times of a Vibrant Community\n \nIn the mid-20th century\, the Broadway neighborhood was a thriving\, tight-knit community in Santa Monica. Built by African American\, Mexican American\, and immigrant communities\, the Broadway neighborhood was a haven for those who were excluded from other parts of the city by racist and anti-immigrant policies and practices. \nThis exhibition tells the story of how residents built Broadway into a flourishing community of color – and how the Interstate 10 freeway destroyed it in the 1960s. The vibrant lives of pioneering individuals – like the first African American teacher and social worker hired in Santa Monica – are knitted into the neighborhood they built together. The community populated Broadway with welcoming schools\, homes\, and businesses – from beauty parlors and jazz clubs\, to the malt shop\, tortilleria\, and Jewish deli. \n \nFeaturing period photographs\, advertisements\, oral histories\, and songs\, the exhibition draws on the wealth of archival material collected by the Quinn Research Center\, which is dedicated to preserving the history of African American life in Santa Monica. \nToday\, little evidence remains of the community on the blocks between 13th Street and 20th Street\, once the heart of the Broadway neighborhood. Though physically erased\, Broadway lives on in the stories that are preserved and shared to illuminate past inequities and spotlight the inspirational individuals who created a center of social and civic life on their own terms. \n\nAdmissions\n\nGeneral – $5.00\nSeniors & Students – $5.00\nChildren under 12 – Free\nMuseum members – Free\nVeterans & Active-duty military – Free \n\nHours\nMonday – Wednesday: Closed\nThursday: 3:00pm – 8:00pm\nFriday – Sunday: 11:00am – 5:00pm \nMuseum Holiday Hours\nWe are closed in observance of the following holidays: New Year’s Day\, President’s Day\, Easter\, Memorial Day\, July 4th\, Labor Day\, Thanksgiving\, and the day after\, Christmas \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nsantamonicahistory.org\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:The FOWLER MUSEUM: Reflecting Culture
DESCRIPTION:ON PERMANENT DISPLAY- Westwood Village\, UCLA\nUCLA Fowler Museum presents\n\n\nReflecting Culture: The Francis E. Cowler\, Jr. Collection of Silver\n \nComprising 251 objects representing 16th through 19th century Europe\, Great Britain\, and the United States\, this exhibition interprets silver in its social contexts. Gleaming vessels from renowned workshops—such as those of British silversmith Paul de Lamerie (c.1800)\, Russian jeweler Karl Fabergé (c.1900)\, and American patriot silversmith Paul Revere (c.1760)—highlight important styles and techniques. \n\n\n  \n\n\n308 Charles E. Young Dr N\, Los Angeles\, CA 90024 \n\nFREE EVERY DAY! @ UCLA\nThe Fowler Museum at UCLA explores global arts and cultures with an emphasis on works from Africa\, Asia\, the Pacific\, and the Americas—past\, and present. The Fowler enhances understanding and appreciation of the diverse peoples\, cultures\, and religions of the world through dynamic exhibitions\, publications\, and public programs\, informed by interdisciplinary approaches and the perspectives of the cultures represented. \nAlso featured is the work of international contemporary artists presented within the complex frameworks of politics\, culture\, and social action. \nFowler Museum at UCLA provides exciting\, informative\, and thought-provoking exhibitions and events for the UCLA community and the people of greater Los Angeles and beyond. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAreas of the Collection\n\n\n\n\nARTS OF AFRICA AND THE AFRICAN DIASPORA\n \nOne of the largest and finest in the United States\, and one of the top twenty African collections worldwide\, this collection offers a superb representation of the arts of many African nations\, including objects from Senegal\, Nigeria\, Ghana\, Cameroon\, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire)\, Kenya\, Zambia\, and South Africa. The Yoruba collection alone is one of the three finest in the world. It contains a spectacular array of beaded objects\, including a majestic throne\, elaborate chiefly gowns and sophisticated divination regalia. \nA collection of post-apartheid election materials and contemporary South African art is being developed\, as are a number of collections of popular urban arts from countries including Tanzania and Muslim Senegal. Recently\, more than 400 textiles made by the Kuba peoples of the Democratic Republic of the Congo were gifted by the Christensen Foundation. \nThe collection represents some of the finest examples of men’s embroidered raffia pile cloths and women’s appliqué cloths. This collection complements already significant holdings of West African textiles from countries such as Mali and Ghana\, including kente and adinkra cloth and Asafo flags. The museum also has significant holdings of arts from the African Americas\, and notable arts from Haitian Vodou\, Brazil\, and Suriname. \n\n\n\nARTS OF THE AMERICAS\n\n\n \nThese holdings include a comprehensive collection of pre-Columbian ceramics with the best representations from West Mexico\, the Valley of Mexico\, and pre-Columbian Peru (with special strengths in the art of the Moche). The Fowler also possesses a cohesive collection of Guatemalan costumes; an extensive collection of Mexican clothing; textiles of Peru; and a comprehensive representation of field-collected market materials from Michoacan\, Mexico. Complementing the pre-Columbian collections are field collections of the Warao and Yecuana Indians of the Orinoco Delta of Venezuela and contemporary Latin American popular arts including Mexican trees of life\, Day of the Dead figures\, and masks from Metepec\, Oaxaca\, Michoacan\, Jalisco\, Puebla\, and Guanajuato. \nNative American materials from the U.S. and Canada are a small but significant part of the collection. Materials from the United States and Canada include well-known Northwest Coast material\, as well as a notable cross-section of late nineteenth-century Inuit art and material culture. \n\n\n\nARTS OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC\n\n\n \nThe Fowler Museum at UCLA collections from Insular Southeast Asia\, including Indonesia\, the Philippines\, Malaysia\, and aboriginal Taiwan\, are among the strongest in the United States. The Indonesian and Philippine textiles reinforce the Fowler Museum’s standing as a major repository for the textile arts. Also included are significant collections of sculptural material from Sumatra\, Borneo\, Sulawesi\, and Luzon\, puppetry from Java and Bali\, basketry from Indonesia and the Philippines\, and metalwork from the Philippines. The primary strength of the Pacific collections lies in materials from Papua New Guinea\, especially the Papuan Gulf\, Trobriand Islands\, Sepik River\, and Maprik region. Australia and Polynesia are also represented by sizeable collections\, including 45 rare Maori cloaks. \nThe collections from mainland Asia are smaller but growing rapidly\, due to current collecting priorities. A collection of betel-chewing paraphernalia\, representing several countries in South and Southeast Asia\, is considered one of the finest in the world. Other holdings include textiles from Bhutan\, Pakistan\, India\, and Japan\, baskets and decorative arts from Japan\, puppetry from China\, Thailand\, India\, and Turkey\, and art and artifacts from Nepal. \n\n\n\nARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS\n\n\n \nThe Fowler Museum at UCLA also serves as a repository for archaeological collections acquired during research conducted by UCLA faculty\, staff\, students\, and other professional archaeologists. Documentation of the collections includes artifact catalogs\, excavation notes\, maps\, and photographs. These collections serve primarily as an archive for teaching and research. The Museum is compliant with guidelines mandated by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and has been signaled out by the State of California for its exemplary efforts. \nArchaeological collection areas include: \nCalifornia \nCollections from approximately 1100 sites\, mostly in Southern California. \nSouthwest \nSignificant collections from the Rainbow Bridge-Monument Valley Expedition of 1933-1938 and several Parowan Fremont sites in Utah were excavated in the 1950s\, and other Anasazi and Hohokam sites. \nMexico \nIncludes objects from 218 sites\, mostly in western and central Mexico. \nSudan \nThe Nubian/Egyptian fortress site at Askut is the source of approximately 60\,000 artifacts excavated by UCLA archaeologist Alexander Badawy in conjunction with the Aswan High Dam Salvage Campaign\, 1962-1964. \nOld World stone tool collection \nIncludes tools from Europe and the Middle East. \n\n\nMUSEUM HOURS\n\nAdmission is FREE \nMonday – Tuesday: closed\nWednesday – Sunday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm \n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nfowler.ucla.edu\n \n\n  \nFind more

Magnolia Blvd.\, Burbank\, CA 91506 \n\n\nWorld’s First Museum dedicated to the Arts Begins\n\nThe Martial Arts History Museum officially began as a registered museum on Sept. 15\, 1999. It was founded by former magazine publisher\, martial arts historian and martial arts veteran Michael Matsuda. The concept of the museum actually began in 1987 but didn’t officially begin until 1999. \nAfter a number of dinner ceremonies and special events\, the Martial Arts History Museum gathered the biggest martial arts icons in the world to cut the ribbon in launching the first of many traveling exhibits. For the next four years\, the museum was on the road going all across the country. From libraries to conventions to expos to the Queen Mary\, the museum was housed in a 1\,000 square foot exhibit with wonderful reviews the museum exhibit was in high demand. \n \nAfter numerous meetings with the L.A. City Council\, Mayor Villariagosa’s staff\, the California Senate\, the San Fernando City Council\, and more\, it was through the urging of Congressman Howard McKeon and the Mayor of Santa Clarita\, that the Martial Arts History Museum open their doors in a brick and mortar facility in the city of Santa Clarita. The museum opened in 2006 in an 8\,000 square foot facility which featured a wide range of displays as well as a 200-plus seat theater. The city of Santa Clarita had provided us with future plans to construct are area for three museums\, which would include the Martial Arts History. Unfortunately\, a year later\, a new leadership was in control and their future plans for a museum center were canceled. \nIn 2010\, the museum decided to relocate to a city that would be more open to art and culture; which was the city of Burbank\, CA. Burbank is a very populated area surrounded by Hollywood’s biggest productions studios. In 2011\, the museum re-opened to the public holding a significant number of events every month. Being located in Burbank\, many of the local schools were now able to visit the facility. From Unified School Districts from Burbank\, Los Angeles\, Glendale and Pasadena\, thousands of young people enjoy the museum tours. \n \nFREE DAYS: First Thursday of the month\, 3pm to 6pm\nHours\nMonday – Wednesday: Closed\nThursday – Sunday: 11:00am – 6:00pm \nAdmission\n$10 – Adults\n$5 – Kids 6 – 17 \n$8 – Adults 65+\n$8 – “Active” Military \nSpecial Events\n$20 Adults\nFree – Kids 6 – 17 \nDiscount:\n$8 – Senior Citizens 65 and Over\n$8 – Active Military\nPolice – Free\nFiremen – Free \nMembers\nFREE to all events held at the Museum \n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://martialartsmuseum.com/\n \n  \nFind more

With a belief that the greatest art collections are built when the art is being made\, the Broads took to collecting art of their own time. \nThe Broad is home to 2\,000 works in the Broad collection by more than 200 artists\, and is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art. The collection features in-depth holdings of influential contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat\, Mark Bradford\, Jasper Johns\, Jeff Koons\, Barbara Kruger\, Yayoi Kusama\, Kerry James Marshall\, Julie Mehretu\, Takashi Murakami\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, Cindy Sherman\, Cy Twombly\, Andy Warhol\, and more\, plus an ever-growing representation of younger artists. \n  \nView Our Collection Here\n \nIn Under the Table\, 1994\, the viewer is both in the world of imaginary giants and in the world of remembered childhood. Fusing Alice in Wonderland with the Duchampian tradition of the readymade\, Artist Robert Therrien constructs a doppelganger from an everyday object\, both displaying his visual wit and actualizing literary or imaginative fantasy in three-dimensional space. The table exudes an extraordinary aura\, compelling one to walk underneath the table and conjuring the physical memory of being under the table of one’s childhood home. Complicated and powerful\, the work offers fresh ideas of what a table\, sculpture\, and memory can mean. \n  \n  \n \nUsing the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog\, Koons has frozen a moment in time\, exaggerating both scale and material. \nBalloon Dog (Blue) is literal and abstract. When standing close to it\, one’s own distorted reflection bends around smooth pert curves. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission is Free\nThe Broad requires all visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance. SUMMARY:Forest Lawn Museum
DESCRIPTION:NOW ON EXHIBIT – Forest Lawn Museum\, Glendale\nEnriching the community through artwork. The Forest Lawn Museum first opened in 1952 and is located adjacent to the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection at Forest Lawn – Glendale.  Forest Lawn’s founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, wrote in his Builder’s Creed that our park should be “a place where artists study and sketch; where school teachers bring happy children to see the things they read of in books.” In that spirit\, the Forest Lawn Museum displays a permanent collection\, as well as world-class rotating exhibits. With engaging special exhibits and free educational and artistic activities\, there is always something new to experience. \n \nForest Lawn Museum is located within Forest Lawn-Glendale (1712 S. Glendale Ave\, Glendale\, CA 91205). Enter the main gate on Glendale Ave and follow signs to the top of the hill. Admission is free and there’s plenty of free parking!\nEmail museum@forestlawn.com to schedule your free group tour today. \nHealth and Safety Precautions\nFor the health and safety of visitors and staff\, wearing a mask indoors is recommended\, but no longer mandatory. Forest Lawn offers several ongoing exhibits that are free to the public.\n \nThe Great Mausoleum at 100\nOn May 2\, 1920\, Forest Lawn dedicated the Great Mausoleum. On May 2\, 2020\, we recognize the centennial of this monumental building. Construction began in 1917 and only one level was complete at the dedication ceremony. The building now has 11 terraces\, dozens of sculptures\, and more than 100 stained glass windows. It has endured through the Great Depression\, World War II\, and into the 21st century. Even in the difficult times that we’re currently experiencing\, we look forward to another hundred years of history with the Great Mausoleum. \n\n \n1712 S Glendale Ave.\, Glendale\, CA 91205 \nSince our founding\, Forest Lawn has committed itself to providing outstanding service and beautiful environments for family outings\, remembering loved ones\, and commemorating holidays. Whether you are planning how to help your loved ones remember you\, memorializing someone special in your life\, or joining us for holiday events like Easter or Memorial Day\, we invite you to visit Forest Lawn. \n\nServing Families for More Than 100 Years\nSince its founding in 1906\, Forest Lawn has been an integral part of the community it serves. Our Founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, profoundly changed the funeral business by transforming Forest Lawn Memorial-Park into a place for the living. By combining the mortuary and cemetery sides of the business\, Eaton achieved his goal\, making Forest Lawn a beautiful setting for services\, weddings\, baptisms\, and family excursions. After 100 years of service\, the Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks remain a place for the living and a true community resource. \nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Sunday: 10:00am – 5:00pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nforestlawn.com/museum\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:Pluto TV
DESCRIPTION:IT’S FREE TV! App or Online\nWhat is Pluto TV? Well let’s see. We could pen a historical essay about our 2013 origins. \n \nWe could toss around numbers like 100s of channels\, 200+ content partners\, and 26+ million viewers. We could even drone on about our huge library of on-demand content which spans across all genres of movies\, news\, TV shows\, sports\, documentaries\, and blah blah blahhh… \nBut why complicate things when Pluto TV is\, at its core\, really simple? \nAll you really need to know is… it’s free of passwords\, it’s free of payments\, and it’s free of all those Friday night spats about what to watch. \nPluto TV is a free live-stream television and on-demand video service from ViacomCBS. \n  \n\n\n\nSo just lean back. Drop in and enjoy the show. It’s free.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat will I Find on Pluto TV?\n\n\nLIVE TV\n\n\n\n\nBlockbuster Movies\n \nComedy\n \nCult Classics\n \n\nKids & Family Friendly Programing \n\n\nSports\n \nNews\n\n\nLatino\n \n\n\nWatch on your \nSmart TV\, Streaming Devices\, Mobile App\, Desktop App or Watch On The Web\n\n\n \n\nOwned by ViacomCBS\, Pluto TV is a live-TV streaming service\, not entirely unlike Sling TV and such competitors as DirecTV Now\, Hulu+ Live TV\, or other similar services. But unlike those services which offer streaming access to channels you’d find on cable TV\, Pluto TV offers free content mainly curated from what’s already available online. Pluto TV launched in 2014 and picked up steam fairly quickly making it the largest free TV streaming service in the U.S. \nYou’re not going to find standard TV channels\, though some are represented via their web counterparts\, especially news outlets. Those include familiar names like Bloomberg\, Cheddar\, CNBC\, MSNBC\, CBSN\, and many others. As of April 2019\, it also includes CNN\, though not the full\, live CNN you get on cable. Instead\, the CNN channel features a curated playlist of short-form digital content from CNN’s anchors and reporters. Featured clips are oriented toward lifestyle and culture\, climate change\, the environment\, and original CNN investigations and interviews. A similar channel for NBC called NBC News Now arrived in February 2020. Other recent additions to Pluto include CMT\, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud\, and Red Bull TV\, plus a handful of new themed channels in Celebrity\, Reality\, and Lives\, the perfect cocktail for pop culture and reality TV enthusiasts. \nSports coverage is less conventional — you’re not going to find the likes of ESPN here. Instead\, you’ll find choices like Fight\, World Poker Tour\, Impact Wrestling\, a dedicated Sports News network\, Glory Kickboxing\, and the Big Sky Network. DAZN recently signed a deal to provide an original weekly series on Pluto TV\, and there’s potential for that partnership to expand down the line. Pluto has recently added an official PGA Tour channel with 24/7 coverage of one of golf’s biggest tournaments. \nIn the Entertainment section\, there are reruns of reality and documentary shows alongside episodes of Dennis the Menace\, Thunderbirds\, and other older TV shows. Among those various channels\, you’ll also find Wipeout\, a network that only shows reruns of the popular game show and various iterations from different countries\, as well as Nosey\, which shows reruns of The Jerry Springer Show and The Maury Show\, among others. Meanwhile\, the Curiosity section features Science TV\, Docu TV\, Xive TV\, and even a NASA live stream. New additions include Pluto TV Sitcoms\, offering a selection of older comedies like 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Lucy Show\, and a Spanish-language channel called Pluto TV Cine. \n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the Pluto TV website @ \npluto.tv\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Home Cooking Comedy Show
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEDNESDAY – Pasadena\nHome Cookin Comedy is a stand-up comedy show hosted by Leonard Smith Jr. Come see some of LA’s best up-and-coming stand-ups every Wednesday at Barneys Beanery! \n \nLeonard Smith Jr is a stand-up comedian\, actor\, and improviser based in Los Angeles.\n\nHe surprised those who knew him when he left Atlanta in 2016 to head west. They knew his love for lemon pepper wings and 24-hour access to ass shaking was unmeasurable. If he was gonna leave that\, he meant business\, and he did. He’s since performed sketch\, improv\, and stand-up all over the country. A former UCB program graduate and house team member. He is the creator of the improv group “Lemon Pepper Wet” which has been invited to the Atlanta Improv Festival\, SF Sketchfest\, and the World Comedy Expo Festival in Chicago. He produces and hosts a weekly show called Home Cookin Comedy every Wednesday at Barney’s Beanery Pasadena. You can see Lemon Pepper Wet every third Monday at Holy Shit Improv. You can find his podcast Film Vs Film on all podcast platforms. \n\n \nBarney’s Beanery\, 99 East Colorado Boulevard\, Pasadena\, CA 91105 \nBarney’s Beanery is a full-service bar/restaurant with a history in LA going back almost 100 years.  We’ve grown over the years\, from a small chili cafe in West Hollywood to a multi-unit staple of the Los Angeles restaurant scene.  We serve breakfast\, lunch\, and dinner from morning to midnight and offer a full bar with over 40 beers on draft.  The scene at Barney’s is casual and raucous\, a rockin’ fun restaurant for groups small and large. \nBarney’s is also a fantastic place to watch your favorite sporting event\, play pub-style trivia with friends\, or sing some karaoke late-nights.  No reservations necessary\, come see us in Santa Monica\, Pasadena\, Burbank\, Westwood Village\, Redondo Beach\, and of course\, our original location in West Hollywood. \nBarney’s Beanery opened in West Hollywood in 1920 and very quickly established itself as a fixture in Los Angeles with a history and a following that is unmatched.  The last decade has brought on new locations to serve all our great customers\, while still keeping stride with the rich history and people that got us here.  Take a moment and read the article below to learn a little more about Barney’s Beanery. \n\n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.instagram.com/homecookincomedy\n \n  \nFind more

SUMMARY:MOTHERLAND: Free Stand Up Comedy
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEDNESDAY – Los Angeles\nEvery Wednesday night\, Motherland offers a sublime evening of stand-up comedy featuring some of the best comedians in Los Angeles and across the country! Located at Kusina Filipina in Eagle Rock\, Motherland is 100% free and regularly features comics from NBC\, Comedy Central\, HBO\, MTV\, FOX\, and everywhere. \nMotherland starts at 9:00 pm\, and doors open at 8:30. Seating is first come first serve and food service is available during the show + beer & wine. College students with valid student IDs get 10% Off food. \nDon’t resist the call of the Motherland and enjoy a night full of laughter\, delicious food\, and frosty beverages! \n\n \n4157 Eagle Rock Boulevard\, Los Angeles\, CA 90065 \n\n\n\n\n\n \nExperience dining like you are back home! We serve you your favorite Filipino dishes along with a great dining experience.\nWe have been part of the Eagle Rock community since 2013. Visit us soon. \nFilipino food has been championed as “the next big thing” for years now by chefs\, authors\, and TV hosts — which\, dirty little secret\, just means that it’s the next cuisine to get elevated and sold at a high price. Declaring a culture’s food as the haute new ticket\, as a lot of Filipino chefs will tell you\, is usually hasty and reductive. While it’s undeniable to ignore the trendy appeal of dishes like pork sisig and oxtail kare kare\, it’s also interesting that Filipino food exists in this curious grey area where it’s being elevated before most people have even grasped the traditional concepts and flavors. \n\n\n \n\nHours\nMonday – Saturday: 10:00 am – 8:30 pm\nSunday: 10:00am – 8:00pm\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.eventbrite.com/e/motherland-free-stand-up-comedy\n \n  \nFind more
