DESCRIPTION:EVERY 2nd of the MONTH- Venice Beach \nBeach Cleanup by HOKALI Surf Lessons at Venice Beach 1800 Ocean Front Walk\, Venice\, CA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCalling All Venice Beach Surf Community. All the HOKALI Community of surfers will be cleaning the beaches together\, on the second day of every month!! “What day is that man?”\, you may ask. Ahh\, that’s an easy one Dude! It’s the Second Day.  \nHOKALI is announcing guidelines for individuals to conduct solo beach clean ups as long as local governing bodies allow for public beach access. A solo cleanup is defined as an individual cleanup by one person or household unit\, not necessarily organized by the chapter\, but promoted as an activity for the public. \nThe following requirements are outlined to assist in evaluating your ability to conduct a solo beach cleanup. \n\nYour state and local governing agency allows access to the beach;\n\n\nActive use of the beach is allowed under applicable laws (e.g. walking included);\n\n\nAdditional restrictions on active beach use are followed\, e.g.\, open and closing times\n\n\nBeaches are not so crowded that active users can maintain a safe physical distance of 6 feet\n\nParticipation in a solo cleanup event is voluntary and solely at a participant’s own risk\, including risk associated with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Individuals should only participate to the extent that they can comply with applicable federal\, state\, and local rules and restrictions\, and the below required practices including physical distancing. \nThe following rules must be followed to ensure individuals are equipped to make an educated\, safe and mindful decision to conduct a solo cleanup while following CDC public health guidance\, local beach access restrictions\, and EPA recommendations for properly discarding used PPE items. \nBe responsible! If you are feeling sick or generally unwell\, please stay indoors and heal. \n  \n \n  \nParticipate in a Raffle: Send us your photo or uploaded the picture to social media with #hokalichallenge and tag @hokali.co and participate for a FREE SURFING LESSON + HOKALI HAT. \nWhere to find US: Look for the HOKALI Flag at the beach. His contact information is: +8188237711 \nWhat to bring: mask/cloth face covering\, gloves\, 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer\, grabbers (if you have them)\, 2 separate collection receptacles. \nCheck with your local authority on beach use and access restrictions. Select a location where you can maintain a minimum physical distance of 6 feet. Avoid crowded areas at crowded times. \nWear a mask or cloth face covering when in public per CDC recommendations. \nWear gloves. We cannot stress this safety precaution enough. Viruses can live on hard surfaces\, and individuals should exercise extreme caution when collecting litter. Wearing gloves discourages you from touching your face or face covering. If using reusable gloves\, be sure to properly sanitize between uses. Effective sanitization of a reusable glove depends on the material. Individuals should comply with CDC and EPA guidance on how to effectively sanitize reusable items against COVID-19. \nGrabbers are a good way to minimize contact between your gloves and trash items. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. Join us every First Friday of the Month starting at 5pm for L.A.’s Premier Food Truck Event \n\n\n \nDozens of A-list Food Trucks\n\n\n\n\nJoin us on the Blvd for a fun and festive night out in Venice. Whatever food you’re craving\, chances are you’ll find it\, along with special merchant events and late hours. Each truck is assigned a location and we post a list of trucks and a map of where to find them each month. \n\nThe trucks are vetted and invited to participate by the Merchant Association. DESCRIPTION:EVERY 2nd of the MONTH- Venice Beach \nBeach Cleanup by HOKALI Surf Lessons at Venice Beach 1800 Ocean Front Walk\, Venice\, CA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCalling All Venice Beach Surf Community. All the HOKALI Community of surfers will be cleaning the beaches together\, on the second day of every month!! “What day is that man?”\, you may ask. Ahh\, that’s an easy one Dude! It’s the Second Day.  \nHOKALI is announcing guidelines for individuals to conduct solo beach clean ups as long as local governing bodies allow for public beach access. A solo cleanup is defined as an individual cleanup by one person or household unit\, not necessarily organized by the chapter\, but promoted as an activity for the public. \nThe following requirements are outlined to assist in evaluating your ability to conduct a solo beach cleanup. \n\nYour state and local governing agency allows access to the beach;\n\n\nActive use of the beach is allowed under applicable laws (e.g. walking included);\n\n\nAdditional restrictions on active beach use are followed\, e.g.\, open and closing times\n\n\nBeaches are not so crowded that active users can maintain a safe physical distance of 6 feet\n\nParticipation in a solo cleanup event is voluntary and solely at a participant’s own risk\, including risk associated with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Individuals should only participate to the extent that they can comply with applicable federal\, state\, and local rules and restrictions\, and the below required practices including physical distancing. \nThe following rules must be followed to ensure individuals are equipped to make an educated\, safe and mindful decision to conduct a solo cleanup while following CDC public health guidance\, local beach access restrictions\, and EPA recommendations for properly discarding used PPE items. \nBe responsible! Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. All the HOKALI Community of surfers will be cleaning the beaches together\, on the second day of every month!! “What day is that man?”\, you may ask. Ahh\, that’s an easy one Dude! It’s the Second Day.  \nHOKALI is announcing guidelines for individuals to conduct solo beach clean ups as long as local governing bodies allow for public beach access. A solo cleanup is defined as an individual cleanup by one person or household unit\, not necessarily organized by the chapter\, but promoted as an activity for the public. \nThe following requirements are outlined to assist in evaluating your ability to conduct a solo beach cleanup. \n\nYour state and local governing agency allows access to the beach;\n\n\nActive use of the beach is allowed under applicable laws (e.g. walking included);\n\n\nAdditional restrictions on active beach use are followed\, e.g.\, open and closing times\n\n\nBeaches are not so crowded that active users can maintain a safe physical distance of 6 feet\n\nParticipation in a solo cleanup event is voluntary and solely at a participant’s own risk\, including risk associated with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Individuals should only participate to the extent that they can comply with applicable federal\, state\, and local rules and restrictions\, and the below required practices including physical distancing. \nThe following rules must be followed to ensure individuals are equipped to make an educated\, safe and mindful decision to conduct a solo cleanup while following CDC public health guidance\, local beach access restrictions\, and EPA recommendations for properly discarding used PPE items. \nBe responsible! Select a location where you can maintain a minimum physical distance of 6 feet. Avoid crowded areas at crowded times. \nWear a mask or cloth face covering when in public per CDC recommendations. \nWear gloves. We cannot stress this safety precaution enough. Viruses can live on hard surfaces\, and individuals should exercise extreme caution when collecting litter. Wearing gloves discourages you from touching your face or face covering. If using reusable gloves\, be sure to properly sanitize between uses. Effective sanitization of a reusable glove depends on the material. Individuals should comply with CDC and EPA guidance on how to effectively sanitize reusable items against COVID-19. \nGrabbers are a good way to minimize contact between your gloves and trash items. On this holy day\, skaters will show their love and support for skateboarding by holding fundraisers\, contests\, protests\, and demos. They’ll skate across cities\, gather in skate parks\, stream into local skate shops\, and make pilgrimages to their favorite skate spots\, all while taking part in the grind heard around the world. \n \nAbout the Venice Skate Park:  This 16\,000 sq. foot skatepark is one of the only in the world located on a beach. It features two bowls\, a snake run\, and a street section with steps\, rails\, and platforms. The design for the 3.5 million dollar park came “from local skaters and skating professionals” touts L.A. City Councilman Bill Rosendal’s office. The facility\, which opened Oct. 3 2009 took 10 months to build. \n\n\n\n\nWhat are Some Go Skateboarding Day Events?\n\n\n\n\nThousands of skateboarders around the world partake in local events for Go Skateboarding Day. You’ll have a host of skate meetups\, contests\, and communal gatherings to choose from. Here are some events you can expect to see on Go Skate Day 2023: \n\nSkatepark BBQ: Who doesn’t love a summer BBQ? Skate companies and skate shops will provide a BBQ at the local park\, and food and non-alcoholic beverages provided. Live music will often accompany the BBQ.\n\n \n\nSkatepark Contests: What goes along perfectly with a BBQ? How about skate contests? Often judged by the local skate shop owners\, Go Skate Day contests come in various forms and offer local skaters a way to win skate gear like decks\, wheels\, trucks\, and shoes.\n\n\nHigh Ollie Contest: Skateboards or sometimes a measuring stick are stacked as skaters are invited to ollie the obstacle. With each ollie\, the measure grows taller as contestants are weeded out until the skater with the highest ollie is crowned the winner.\n\n \n\nBest Trick Contest: Best Trick contests are some of the most exciting skateboarding contests in skating. A particular obstacle in the skate park\, typically a rail\, a stair set\, or a launch ramp\, will be chosen for a ‘free for all’ contest. Those who are the top skaters of their local park will skate the obstacle to see who can do the ‘best trick’ for prizes. Skaters perform progressively harder tricks and build off one another’s momentum and inspiration\, making for some of the most exciting contests to witness.\n\n\nStreet Takeover: In the largest cities around the world\, skateboarders will band together to perform a street takeover.
