SUMMARY:Forest Lawn Museum
DESCRIPTION:NOW ON EXHIBIT – Forest Lawn Museum\, Glendale\nEnriching the community through artwork. The Forest Lawn Museum first opened in 1952 and is located adjacent to the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection at Forest Lawn – Glendale.  Forest Lawn’s founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, wrote in his Builder’s Creed that our park should be “a place where artists study and sketch; where school teachers bring happy children to see the things they read of in books.” In that spirit\, the Forest Lawn Museum displays a permanent collection\, as well as world-class rotating exhibits. With engaging special exhibits and free educational and artistic activities\, there is always something new to experience. \n \nForest Lawn Museum is located within Forest Lawn-Glendale (1712 S. Glendale Ave\, Glendale\, CA 91205). Enter the main gate on Glendale Ave and follow signs to the top of the hill. Admission is free and there’s plenty of free parking!\nEmail museum@forestlawn.com to schedule your free group tour today. \nHealth and Safety Precautions\nFor the health and safety of visitors and staff\, wearing a mask indoors is recommended\, but no longer mandatory. A free face mask is available upon request. Touch-free hand-sanitizer stations are available for visitors. Thank you for helping us stay safe and healthy. We look forward to your visit! \n\nIn addition to the museum\, statues\, and architecture displayed around our parks. Forest Lawn offers several ongoing exhibits that are free to the public.\n \nThe Great Mausoleum at 100\nOn May 2\, 1920\, Forest Lawn dedicated the Great Mausoleum. On May 2\, 2020\, we recognize the centennial of this monumental building. Construction began in 1917 and only one level was complete at the dedication ceremony. The building now has 11 terraces\, dozens of sculptures\, and more than 100 stained glass windows. It has endured through the Great Depression\, World War II\, and into the 21st century. Even in the difficult times that we’re currently experiencing\, we look forward to another hundred years of history with the Great Mausoleum. \n\n \n1712 S Glendale Ave.\, Glendale\, CA 91205 \nSince our founding\, Forest Lawn has committed itself to providing outstanding service and beautiful environments for family outings\, remembering loved ones\, and commemorating holidays. Whether you are planning how to help your loved ones remember you\, memorializing someone special in your life\, or joining us for holiday events like Easter or Memorial Day\, we invite you to visit Forest Lawn. \n\nServing Families for More Than 100 Years\nSince its founding in 1906\, Forest Lawn has been an integral part of the community it serves. Our Founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, profoundly changed the funeral business by transforming Forest Lawn Memorial-Park into a place for the living. By combining the mortuary and cemetery sides of the business\, Eaton achieved his goal\, making Forest Lawn a beautiful setting for services\, weddings\, baptisms\, and family excursions. After 100 years of service\, the Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks remain a place for the living and a true community resource. \nHours\nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Sunday: 10:00am – 5:00pm \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nforestlawn.com/museum\n \n  \nFind more
