DESCRIPTION:NOW ON EXHIBIT – Forest Lawn Museum\, Glendale\nEnriching the community through artwork. The Forest Lawn Museum first opened in 1952 and is located adjacent to the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection at Forest Lawn – Glendale.  Forest Lawn’s founder\, Dr. Hubert Eaton\, wrote in his Builder’s Creed that our park should be “a place where artists study and sketch; where school teachers bring happy children to see the things they read of in books.” In that spirit\, the Forest Lawn Museum displays a permanent collection\, as well as world-class rotating exhibits. With engaging special exhibits and free educational and artistic activities\, there is always something new to experience. \n \nForest Lawn Museum is located within Forest Lawn-Glendale (1712 S. Glendale Ave\, Glendale\, CA 91205). Enter the main gate on Glendale Ave and follow signs to the top of the hill. Admission is free and there’s plenty of free parking!\nEmail museum@forestlawn.com to schedule your free group tour today. \nHealth and Safety Precautions\nFor the health and safety of visitors and staff\, wearing a mask indoors is recommended\, but no longer mandatory. Forest Lawn offers several ongoing exhibits that are free to the public.\n \nThe Great Mausoleum at 100\nOn May 2\, 1920\, Forest Lawn dedicated the Great Mausoleum. On May 2\, 2020\, we recognize the centennial of this monumental building. Construction began in 1917 and only one level was complete at the dedication ceremony. The building now has 11 terraces\, dozens of sculptures\, and more than 100 stained glass windows. It has endured through the Great Depression\, World War II\, and into the 21st century. DESCRIPTION:NOW OPEN  FRIDAY – SUNDAY- Griffith Park\nGriffith Observatory is a free-admission facility located on the south side of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. The building and grounds are accessible for all visitors. The building is busiest on weekends\, during summer and holiday periods\, and at sunset. \n\nGriffith Observatory’s grounds and roads are generally open the same hours as Griffith Park\, 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.\, every day. Access to Griffith Park is free\, though there is paid parking closest to the Observatory. There are public restrooms located next to the Observatory parking lot. Trailheads on Observatory grounds lead to Mount Hollywood\, the Greek Theatre area\, and Fern Dell. \n\n\nDaily Programs\n\nSamuel Oschin Planetarium\n\n\nOur most prominent daily programs are the shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium\, With its spectacular Zeiss star projector\, digital projection system\, state-of-the-art aluminum dome\, comfy seats\, sound system\, and theatrical lighting\, the 290-seat Samuel Oschin Planetarium theater is the finest planetarium in the world. Every show is presented by a live\, engaging storyteller\, and one of our three current shows is offered every 60 to 90 minutes each day the Observatory is open. \n\nPublic Telescopes\nthe Observatory offers many other stellar experiences while you visit. During the day\, you can see the live image of the Sun on our coelostat (solar telescope) in the Ahmanson Hall of the Sky. Each evening\, there are free public telescopes on the roof and lawn for you to observe the night sky. \n \nLeonard Nimoy narrates The Once and Future Griffith Observatory movie profiling the Observatory’s history\, renovation\, and current offerings. You can join our staff for talks about local noon\, the Tesla Coil\,and The Big Picture\, or just walk through the exhibit galleries. \n \nDon’t forget to take in the views of Los Angeles\, get a bite to eat in the Café at the End of the Universe\, or buy a souvenir at the Stellar Emporium. DESCRIPTION:EVERY THIRD THURSDAY- Autry Museum\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us monthly at the Autry Museum to enjoy an evening al fresco at the Odd Market\, an “indie” bazaar with food trucks\, live music\, and the coolest SoCal vendors for crafts\, vintage items\, home goods\, and oddities. Select museum galleries will be open from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. \nFor a list of vendors and other event updates\, visit TheOddMarket.com.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are over the moon to announce this one. After a 2 year covid induced sabbatical\, we are coming back with Odd Nights at The Autry for our 7th season. For those that have enjoyed Odd Nights in the past\, we are excited to see you again with new sellers\, new food trucks\, and some new additions\, such as these cool picnic tables to rent and we have a couple food vendors that are looking at pre-selling charcuterie boards and other specialty items. \nThose of you have never experienced Odd Nights\, you are in for a treat! Odd Nights is the hidden gem of events located at the Autry Museum which is directly across from the LA Zoo. You can park at either the Autry or the LA Zoo for free. \n \nAdmission is only $5. Kids under 12 are free.\nBring a blanket\, your appetite and arrive early and stay late every third Friday from 6pm – 10PM. Odd Nights at The Autry runs April through September. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDon’t forget our live music lineup\, full bar and insane inflatables.
