Perhaps a chromed out\, spoked up low rider with a banana seat and some Ape hangers?  Maybe even a three wheeler trike with a sick ass sound system?  A custom beach cruiser with enough LED’s to light up LAX?  Whatever your jam\, you will be in good company at the VELP! \n \n“We are a group of Bicycle fanatics who ride every Sunday at Sunset in Venice Beach promoting Bicycle Safety.  Come join us for the Electric Light Parade must have safety lights and wheel lights will be available for purchase.  We meet every Sunday at Sunset\, at Windward Plaza on the Boardwalk\, down from the World famous Venice Sign.” The group travels up the Venice Bike Path to the Venice Pier\, in Marina del Rey at Hinano’s Bar. \n  \nVenice Beach\, which served as a US hippy hub of the 1960s\, is now seeing dozens of locals cruising its boardwalk late at night with brightly glowing rides. \nThe bicycle enthusiasts say they fit right in with the hundreds of performers\, artists and musicians that already call Venice Beach home. \n \n\nThis event promotes Bicycle Safety at Night.  As much as 100 people show up each Sunday night for a chance to join the community for few hours of fun. In Buddhist and Hindu teachings\, the Graveyard\, or Charnal grounds\, is a favored place of practice where yogis must confront our mortal destiny\, our fear of death\, and our aversion to impermanence. \n  \n \nIn the Summer of 2020\, as our favorite indoor Yoga studios were forced to close and we found ourselves less compliant in ZOOM classes\, a few of us started coming to Hollywood Forever to practice safely together in the mornings. \nWe are now honored to offer this experience to all yogis\, from beginners to advanced\, looking to deepen their practice in a safe outdoor setting with green grass and quacking ducks. \nWe practice on the Hollywood Forever Cemetery Fairbanks Lawn\, where Cinespia movies are screened\, so there is ample space to spread out and safely distance as you enrich your practice with our sangha community. \n \nAttendance Tips:Cost: Donation based \nParking: FREE! Mindfulness Meditation is the moment-by-moment process of actively and openly observing one’s physical\, mental\, and emotional experiences. Mindfulness has scientific support as a means to reduce stress\, improve attention\, boost the immune system\, reduce emotional reactivity\, and promote a general sense of health and well-being. These half hour weekly sessions are open to all who are interested in learning how to live more presently in life. DESCRIPTION:EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT- Culver City\nJoin the LA Skate Hunnies for a beginner-friendly road skate that starts and ends at Ivy Station\, with an afterparty at LA Ale Works! \n\n\nJoin the LA Skate Hunnies for their first Thursday Night Skate\, right here at Ivy Station. Each night the group chooses a new theme\, this week’s is Prom! Come dressed to impress in formal attire. Theme is encouraged\, but not required. Meet on the main plaza\, near the elevators by the Great Lawn. \nFirst Thursday Night Skate is a community meetup for primarily roller skaters and rollerbladers\, but all wheels are welcome\, and you’ll often see cyclists and skateboarders join in on the fun! Participants will meet at Ivy Station to go out on a group ride around Culver City. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people.
