SUMMARY:The Venice Run Club
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEEK\, EVERY RUN\, EVERY BODY- Santa Monica & Venice\nThe Venice Run Club is the heartbeat of Venice. A community of runners here to better ourselves and our community. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. Venice Run Club was born. \nNearly two years later\, we have grown into a strong group of 200+ runners\, given back $100\,000 and over 1\,100lbs of clothing to the LA community\, guided over 40 runners to completing their first marathon\, and become On’s first-ever sponsored run club in America. \nCome make friends\, break a sweat\, and get to know the city in the best way possible: by running its streets. \n\n\n\n  \n\nWeekly Run Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nTrack Tuesday- 7:30PM\n\nSanta Monica High School- 601 Pico Blvd\, Santa Monica\, CA 90405 \n\n\n\n\n\nMobbin Wednesday- 6:30pm\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n\n\n\n\nLong Run Saturday- 8:30am\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://venicerunclub.co/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

With a growing roster of tenants\, The Culver Steps boasts a number of popular retailers\, services and restaurants\, including Sephora\, CorePower Yoga\, Philz Coffee\, Mendocino Farms\, Salt & Straw\, Pop’s Bagels\, and Erewhon Market (coming soon). \n\n\n \n9300 Culver Boulevard Culver City CA 90232 \nOUR STORY\nWe started out with a belief that yoga can transform you—on and off the mat. \nWhen a severe climbing accident left him with six permanent screws in his shattered ankle\, CorePower Yoga Founder and CEO Trevor Tice experienced first-hand the transformational benefits of yoga. An avid outdoorsman from Telluride\, CO\, Trevor was left searching for an exercise to replace the running\, climbing\, and other physically challenging activities that were no longer accessible to him. He found yoga and was hooked. \nTraveling for his technology business\, Trevor practiced various yoga disciplines at yoga studios across the country and found an opportunity to make yoga dynamic\, challenging\, and convenient. \nIn 2002\, Trevor opened the first CorePower Yoga studio on Grant Street in downtown Denver\, CO\, offering a proprietary form of athletic\, heated yoga in modern\, welcoming\, spa-like studios. With six teachers\, including Trevor\, teaching four classes per day\, it took several arduous months before classes began to fill up. But they did. And it wasn’t long before people were talking about this new yoga. \n\nOUR MISSION\n\n\nTo show the world the incredible life-changing things that happen when you root for an intensely physical workout in the mindfulness of yoga. \n\nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.facebook.com/theculversteps\n \n  \nFind more

Adidas Runners is a free running community with daily events from running to strength and nutrition. You’ll find as you complete more virtual runs that the online community of fellow runners is extremely supportive and accepting. Everyone is completing a virtual run for their own unique reason\, their own special cause\, and their own personal accomplishment. And even though the run itself isn’t so much about other people\, that doesn’t mean you can’t do it with a group or some friends. It’s all up to you. That’s the beauty — and the freedom — of a virtual run.\n\n\nVirtual runs are races that can be completed from anywhere in the world. Whether you walk or run doesn’t matter\, and neither does your skill level. If you’re looking to get in shape\, want to up your game with new challenges\, or are just looking for something fun\, virtual races give you the opportunity to nail your goal.\n\n\nAdidas Runners LA Virtual Runs Include;\nFREE Tempo Run\nThe Tempo Run is a moderate sustained effort sandwiched between a warm up and cool down. Tempo Run’s are an effective way of building a runner’s ability to sustain faster speeds over time. \nFREE Long Run\nThe Long Run is measured in distance rather than time. Distance measurement  helps to build a foundation for longer aerobic runs and races. The run is either 4 or 6 miles distances at an easy pace. \nWe participate in  a proper Warm Up with the use of Adidas Running app to monitor our progress. We also\, focus on relaxing at a slower pace while ending with a proper Cool Down. \n\nFREE Virtual Nutrition \nTune in each week to nutrition coach Lottie’s Nutriton Tlks. In this session Lottie will have a different guest each week where they will create a recipe together and discuss topics around fueling plus nutrition. This dynamic conversation will supply useful tips for any athlete who is looking to learn more about nutrition and healthy habits! \nThe video will be posted at 7:00 am.
\n\n\n\n  \n\nWeekly Run Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nTrack Tuesday- 7:30PM\n\nSanta Monica High School- 601 Pico Blvd\, Santa Monica\, CA 90405 \n\n\n\n\n\nMobbin Wednesday- 6:30 pm\n\nParking lot – 2050 Dell Avenue\, Venice\, CA\, 90291 \n\n\n\n\n\nLong Run Saturday- 8:30 am\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://venicerunclub.co/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

Themes are announced in the weekly newsletter sent every Wednesday\, subscribe here \n \nA few minutes before 9am\, the hike ends at the Bluff\, where you can find restrooms and water fountains.\nAt 9 am\, we will begin the yoga class. \n \nAfterwards\, we take a photo for social media\, join in with your favorite yoga pose of the day!\nIf you decide to post on social media\, please tag us @HiketoYogaLA! \n \nHow much does this cost? \nThis is a community initiative fueled by donations and volunteer hours. Please share your abundance energy with us through donating to our GoFundMe. 100 percent of your donation goes into making these community events accessible to all participants! \nPlease consider joining our VIP Membership Circle to get a Logo Pin (flash your VIP pin to our sign-in team\, no need to sign in more than once!) and exclusive invitations to members-only events. \n \nWhen I enter “Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area” in my GPS\, why does it give me an address on La Cienega? \nThe La Cienega entrance is the official entrance to the park. There is a $7 cash-only parking fee on the weekends. Enter here\, take the road all the way up\, and park by the Burke Roche picnic area/restrooms if you want to ONLY join the 9am yoga. \n \nWhat kind of trail will the group hike?\nThere are many trails up to the yoga location but we plan to have Hike Leaders for our Signature moderate\, nature-full trail with inclines and declines. The trail will take us to up to the Bluff where there are restrooms and water fountains. This 2021 Season we will be debuting the Hummingbird trail (Park to Playa trail + Bowl loop)\, which is more flat and takes you through a beautiful hummingbird garden. Both hikes will be about 40-45 minutes. \n \nWhat if I only want to do the yoga class\, what is the easiest way to get to yoga at 9 am? \nYou can pay $7 cash for parking\, enter at the La Cienega entrance\, and park right by the Burke Roche picnic area/restrooms. Walk about 2 minutes down the Bluff to the 9/11 Memorial Tree. \n \nWho will be teaching the yoga classes? Will the classes be beginner-friendly? \nWe have an awesome team of Hike to Yoga LA Yoga Teachers\, including Hike to Yoga LA Founder\, Laurie\, who enjoys teaching her signature Yoga Wave Circle!\nOur teacher team is diverse in age and body-type\, and are ready to inspire you with community\, nature and of course\, yoga!\nYoga class is 60 minutes long\, starts promptly at 9 am. Please be on time as it is distracting to join when class has already started. \n \nWhat should I bring?\nYour yoga mat\, yoga towel\, beach towel\, or just do yoga on the earth! (Might be wet from morning dew!) It is advisable that you have a mat strap or backpack since you are responsible for your own mat!\nDon’t forget your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated; there is a water fountain by the Bluff area. \n \nWhat happens after the Hike to Yoga classes? How do I get back to the meeting point? \nThe Park to Playa trail is flat and should take about 15-20 minutes to get back to the Don Lorenzo and La Brea meeting point. \n\nREGISTER ONLINE FOR FREE TICKETS\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nwww.HiketoYogaLA.com\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

\n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.

SUMMARY:Venice Run Club
\n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. The Beach House story is one of evolution from private to public\, starting with the development of the property at 415 Pacific Coast Highway as an opulent private estate in the 1920s. \nHistoric Past\n \nThe 5-acre oceanfront site upon which the Annenberg Community Beach House now sits was originally developed during the Gold Coast era of the 1920s by William Randolph Hearst for actress Marion Davies. The Davies estate featured a mansion of 100-plus rooms and an ornate marble swimming pool. As with many Hearst projects\, the vision of architect Julia Morgan provided a cohesive grace to the rambling estate. The Beach House was a hot spot on Santa Monica’s Gold Coast\, with Hearst and Davies entertaining luminaries from the Hollywood set\, such as Charlie Chaplin\, Louis B. Mayer\, Samuel Goldwyn\, Greta Garbo\, Clark Gable and other stars of the day. \nIn 1947\, Joseph Drown purchased the property from Davies and converted into Oceanhouse\, “America’s Most Beautiful Hotel\,” along with the Sand & Sea Club\, a limited-membership beach club. After the Oceanhouse venture ended\, the main mansion was demolished in 1956. The popular Sand & Sea Club continued to operate. \nBecoming the Beach House\nThe property was sold to the State of California in 1959\, continuing to operate as the ever-popular Sand & Sea Club under a concession agreement. In the 1990s\, the City of Santa Monica ran the facility\, known as ‘415 PCH\,’ until the 1994 Northridge Earthquake severely damaged all structures on site. \nIn recovering from the earthquake\, the City embarked on an extensive public input process to re-envision the role of 415 PCH as an important public gathering space. Although a reuse plan was adopted in 1998\, the project sat on hold while the City tried to secure funding. Wallis Annenberg of the Annenberg Foundation\, held fond memories of visiting the Sand & Sea Club. When she learned of the City’s struggle to identify funding to realize its vision for a year-round public beach facility\, she enthusiastically offered to help. The Annenberg Foundation provided a $27.5 million grant that paved the way for the site’s rehabilitation. \nStaff from the Foundation and the City worked with Frederick Fisher Partners\, Architects; Charles Pankow Builders; Historic Resources Group; Mia Lehrer & Associates; AdamsMorioka; and Roy McMakin to form the new Beach House. The project involved rehabilitation of the historic Marion Davies Guest House and pool\, as well as construction of new recreation and event spaces. Three overarching themes guide the interpretation of the site with our year round cultural programming reflecting those themes. \nThree Remarkable Individuals: William Randolph Hearst\, Marion Davies\, and Julia Morgan shaped the site’s historical legacy.\nA Beach Like No Other: The Southern California beach occupies a unique place within the physical and cultural landscape of America.\nA Public Place Henceforth: The site of the Beach House has seen an evolution from private ownership to public management and ownership leading to today’s universal access. \nThe Beach House is another step forward in the City of Santa Monica’s commitment to sustainability – it has been awarded a Gold LEED rating from the US Green Building Council. \nToday\n \nThe site opened to the public as the Annenberg Community Beach House on April 25\, 2009.
