Mindfulness Meditation is the moment-by-moment process of actively and openly observing one’s physical\, mental\, and emotional experiences. Mindfulness has scientific support as a means to reduce stress\, improve attention\, boost the immune system\, reduce emotional reactivity\, and promote a general sense of health and well-being. These half hour weekly sessions are open to all who are interested in learning how to live more presently in life. No special clothing is required\, and participants are welcome to join for five minutes or enjoy the entire 30 minutes.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese free weekly drop-in sessions usually take place in the Hammer’s Billy Wilder Theater but are now offered live online via Zoom. \nMindful Awareness Meditation is provided by UCLA & The Hammer Museum\n  \nff \n\nSessions are led by Diana Winston and other instructors from the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. DESCRIPTION:EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT- Culver City\nJoin the LA Skate Hunnies for a beginner-friendly road skate that starts and ends at Ivy Station\, with an afterparty at LA Ale Works! \n\n\nJoin the LA Skate Hunnies for their first Thursday Night Skate\, right here at Ivy Station. Each night the group chooses a new theme\, this week’s is Prom! Come dressed to impress in formal attire. Theme is encouraged\, but not required. Meet on the main plaza\, near the elevators by the Great Lawn. \nFirst Thursday Night Skate is a community meetup for primarily roller skaters and rollerbladers\, but all wheels are welcome\, and you’ll often see cyclists and skateboarders join in on the fun! Participants will meet at Ivy Station to go out on a group ride around Culver City. The group passes through some of Culver City’s most iconic landmarks\, with lots of stops to dance\, rest\, or do whatever you’d like! The group will meet at LA Ale Works when the group ride ends around 9:30pm\, and stay until close at 11:00pm. \nThis Skate Night is beginner friendly\, but participants are expected to have control when skating and have basic skills to navigate road skating in a large group. DESCRIPTION:TUESDAY TO SUNDAY  – Italian American Museum of Los Angeles\nThe Italian American Museum of Los Angeles\, or IAMLA\, is located in the historic Italian Hall\, which was constructed in 1908 to serve as a gathering place for the Italian community. Today\, the Italian Hall is the oldest remaining structure from Los Angeles’ Italian enclave and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. \n \nTHE HISTORY\nItalians and Italian Americans have played an instrumental role in the development of Los Angeles as one of the world’s greatest metropolises\, yet the history of Italians in the region is largely unknown. Though Los Angeles is home to the nation’s fifth-largest Italian population today\, and the Italian presence in the American West predates the nation’s founding\, seldom is the city included in dialogs surrounding contemporary or historic Italian American communities. An examination of the region’s Italian roots reveals both the complexity of the Italian Diaspora and the exceptionally diverse fabric of Southern California’s history. \n \nThe Los Angeles Italian experience contrasts with that of Italian immigrants elsewhere in the country and reveals the complexity of the Italian American diaspora. Given the success that Italian Americans have achieved in the United States\, it is easy to forget that they\, like other minority groups\, faced considerable prejudice and hostility in their struggle to achieve the American Dream. In the American South\, Italians were a common target of lynchings and racially-motivated violence. In the early 20th century\, eugenicists described Italians as genetically inferior\, while political cartoons of the era depicted Italians as threats to American security and racial purity. \nTHE MISSION\nThe mission of the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles is to foster a deeper understanding of Southern California’s diverse heritage through research\, historic preservation\, exhibitions\, and educational programs that examine the history and continuing contributions of Italian Americans in multi-ethnic Los Angeles and the United States. \nThe IAMLA is a charity that depends on donations to accomplish its specific mission. The Western Museum of Flight’s collection includes numerous Warbirds\, aircraft and target drones\, piston and jet aircraft engines\, aircraft components\, aircraft ejection seats\, World War II instruments\, aircrew accessories\, and an extensive model aircraft collection. Please visit us at www.wmof.com. \nWestern Museum of Flight\, is located at historic “Louis Zamperini Field”\, in Torrance. \n \nThe Western Museum of Flight (WMOF)\nis operated by the Southern California Historical Aviation Foundation. It houses not only historic aircraft\, many of which were built in Southern California\, but also has an extensive collection of historic photographs and blueprints. \n  \nThe WMOF is one of two museums that house the only surviving Jack Northrop flying wings. The museum has several other rare aircraft among its collection\, including: \n  \n \nNorth American F-86Sabre Jet \n \nNorthrop YF-17 “Cobra” (Prototype #1) \n \nThe Northrop N-3PB World War II single engine seaplane built in 1940. The weekly event is celebration of Black culture\, art\, music and dance. \n\n  \n \n\nWeekly crowds come to support Black owned businesses and try the flavors from around the globe. The village is one of the most prominent Black cultural spaces in Los Angeles\, and it is a symbol of Black life in this city. \n  \n \n\n\nEverySunday from 3:00pm until dusk the African beats of the drums can be heard throughout the neighborhood. Drummers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate in this exciting community event. Leimert Park has been a meeting place for the people of Los Angeles for at least since the early 80s. \nThe drum circles feature musical styles from across the African continent\, with local drummers join with others coming from various parts of Africa\, Latin America\, the Caribbean islands. Fusing Alice in Wonderland with the Duchampian tradition of the readymade\, Artist Robert Therrien constructs a doppelganger from an everyday object\, both displaying his visual wit and actualizing literary or imaginative fantasy in three-dimensional space. The table exudes an extraordinary aura\, compelling one to walk underneath the table and conjuring the physical memory of being under the table of one’s childhood home. Complicated and powerful\, the work offers fresh ideas of what a table\, sculpture\, and memory can mean. \n  \n  \n \nUsing the recognizable form of a balloon twisted into the shape of a dog\, Koons has frozen a moment in time\, exaggerating both scale and material. \nBalloon Dog (Blue) is literal and abstract. When standing close to it\, one’s own distorted reflection bends around smooth pert curves. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission is Free\nThe Broad requires all visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance.
