Borrow for 3 weeks\, with the option to renew\, if available. \nPlease note: Laptop & Hotspot Loan Kits require a full access card to check out. How do I check out a Chromebook kit?\nRequests for Chromebook kits can be made using our online catalog or over the phone\, like any of our other materials. At this time requests are site-specific and can only be placed at libraries offering the service (listed above). Call a library offering the service to arrange a same-day checkout\, if kits are available.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. When can I pick up my Laptop & Hotspot?\nCall the owning library and arrange to pick up your kit during Sidewalk Service hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. How long can I keep the Laptop & Hotspot Loan? Can I renew?\nThe kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks. If no other customers are on the waiting list\, the checkout can be renewed up to 3 times. The renewal needs to be made before your checkout period ends.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. How do I return the Chromebook Kit?\nChromebooks must be returned in person to the owning library during Sidewalk Service hours. They cannot be returned in the bookdrop. They cannot be returned to any library other than the one where the kit was checked out. Please call the owning library to arrange a drop-off time and call again once at the library to alert staff. Staff will bring out a box labeled Laptop Return to the Sidewalk Service table. You’ll be instructed to remove all items – the Chromebook\, the wireless hotspot\, and both charging cables – from the carrying case. Put the case into the box first\, on the bottom\, and then put all other items in on top. Staff will check the box to make sure all items are inside and that they look fine. All items will be quarantined for 4 days and confirmed to be working properly before being checked in. Staff will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please remember that the loan will still show on your account until the quarantine and check-in process is complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Are there late fees?\nLate fees will be assessed the same as all other library materials. The Chromebook will become disabled once the loan period has ended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7. Will I be charged if the Chromebook is damaged while in my possession? How much?\nYes\, fees will depend on the type of damage.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8. Will my documents stay on the Chromebook after I return it?\nAll documents are deleted once the Chromebook is shut down. This will happen even during your 3-week checkout period\, so we advise you to back up your documents on a flash drive or in Google Docs if you are working on something you want to keep.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9. What programs will be included on the Chromebook?\n\n\nAdobe Acrobat Reader\nDocuSign\nGoogle Calendar\nGoogle Drive/Docs\nSkype\nWordPress\nInternet\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n10. Will library staff provide an orientation on the technology when I check it out?\nA basic instruction sheet will be provided explaining how to turn on and connect the equipment. If you have further questions\, please call your local library.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n13. I am not good with computers. Will Library staff help me use the Chromebook or answer technical questions?\nLibrary staff is able to provide basic help with your computer—like how to turn it on\, connect the wireless hotspot\, or how to locate programs. Contact 310 376-9833 \n\n \n30 Pier Avenue\, Hermosa Beach\, CA 90254 \n \nA restaurant called “Verpilate’s” was built a short walk from the ocean at 30 Pier Avenue in 1934\, and it was converted into “The Lighthouse”\, a bar\, in 1940 (“Café” was added to the official name only when the business was sold in 1981). The club first began showcasing jazz music on May 29\, 1949\, when owner John Levine permitted bassist/band leader Howard Rumsey to start a recurring Sunday jam session on a trial basis. The experiment was a success. Rumsey became club manager soon after and put together a house band called the Lighthouse All-Stars. \nWhile the club also hosted visiting groups\, the Lighthouse All-Stars became a noted ensemble in its own right\, which had among its guest musicians Chet Baker\, Gerry Mulligan\, and Miles Davis. The longest-running members of the Lighthouse All-Stars were Bob Cooper (tenor saxophone)\, Conte Candoli (trumpet)\, and Stan Levey (drums). \n \nWest Coast jazz stalwarts Shorty Rogers\, Richie Kamuca\, Bill Holman\, Bud Shank\, Shelly Manne\, and Jimmy Giuffre were also regulars in the early days. Max Roach was the regular drummer for a while in 1953. The club also became an important venue for recordings; Art Pepper\, Lee Morgan\, Cannonball Adderley\, Mose Allison\, Ramsey Lewis\, Art Blakey\, Charles Earland\, Grant Green\, Elvin Jones\, Cal Tjader\, the Modern Jazz Quartet\, The Three Sounds\, the Jazz Crusaders\, and Joe Henderson all made recordings there. \n \n“The Lighthouse” sponsored an inter-collegiate jazz festival in the late-1950s\, and the competition’s winners included Mike Melvoin and Les McCann. \nJohn Levine died in 1970 and Rumsey left “The Lighthouse” in 1971 to open the “Concerts By The Sea” jazz club in nearby Redondo Beach. Brews Brothers are our take on serving an ever-changing selection of the best beers in LA’s growing craft beer market. \n \nNorth Hollywood: \nOur dynamic forty-two taps include combinations of American strong ales\, Belgian strong ales\, Barrel Aged beers\, IPAs\, light beers\, wheat beers\, unique one-offs\, and various other styles. \n \nWe also have house-made Kombucha\, three beers on nitro\, and a couple of seasonal ciders. We interchange our taps often\, replacing existing beers with ones of similar styles\, so there is always something new to try! \n \nOur food menu consists of artisan sandwiches\, fresh salads\, and several small bite options. All food is made with high-quality ingredients – no hormones\, no chemicals\, and no preservatives. \nWHO ARE THE BREWS BROTHERS?\n \n​Billie and Joey have been involved with the LA Craft Beer scene for over a decade – watching it grow from nearly nothing to the massive and ever-expanding market it is today. \nOver the years the brothers have watched and helped numerous beer bars and restaurant owners successfully open and operate their establishments. \nBillie and Joey have brewed over 240 batches of beer along with a few collaborations with some of the more established breweries in California. They intend to continue to collaborate with more breweries in the future. \nDuring their many visits to Belgium\, along with numerous trips around the country\, they previewed many beer shops and were impressed with the large variety of beer selections offered.
