Please make a contribution to the Artist Support Fund to directly support the featured artists and to help the DCJF Music Education Program as we continue to provide academic instruction to students around the DC metro area.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe DC JazzFest\n(DCJF) organization provides enriching and entertaining jazz performances and programs that introduce students and adults from all walks of life to jazz; our nation’s singular original art form. DCJF presents a selection of the jazz genre’s most acclaimed artists as well as emerging artists\, and provides enhanced exposure for the rich treasure trove of musicians from the Washington\, DC area. Throughout the year\, DCJF nourishes the community with music education programs that extend our reach into underserved communities and enhance the quality of life for DC public and charter school students. Our signature programs are the annual DC JazzFest\, presented since 2005; the free-round\, year-round\, DCJF Education Program\, which gets kids “jazzed” about learning; the Fishman Embassy Series\, which showcases emerging and established artist; and DCJazzPrix\, our international jazz band competition. DC JazzFest has grown in size and stature each year. As the longest-standing\, independent\, live music venue in Silverlake\, the blending of the two subcultures has cemented its place in local history. The Silverlake Lounge is a place of diversity and a safe space for Creatives and the Queer BIPOC community. It is one of the few properties left that serves the whole of its community. \nOur continued mission is to produce nightly entertainment that presents independent\, emerging artists to greater Los Angeles and its welcomed travelers while remaining a local watering hole for the East Side neighborhood. Melody Lounge\, located off of N Hill Street\, right off the 110\, and within walking distance of Dodger Stadium\, invites you in with a modest\, yet charming exterior. A quiet entryway welcomes you through the door into a low-key hideaway ridden with an array of superb cocktails and a collection of craft beers that will make your head spin. \n \nOnce you enter Melody Lounge\, you will find yourself within a cozy nook illuminated by red lanterns\, giving off an alluring crimson hue to the place. A vinyl record is usually spinning\, playing just loud enough to not have to yell over while you’re chatting with your bartender. With typically\, a moderately laid-back atmosphere\, on rowdier nights like Sundays when they feature karaoke from 9:30 to close\, the room fills up quickly and the good times roll. \n \nReaching its five-year anniversary in March\, Melody Lounge started solely as a craft beer bar and received its full liquor license just over one year ago\, allowing them to accumulate quite the range of spirits to coincide with its diverse gallery of craft brews. \n“We still have a big focus on craft beer\, which is where our roots are\, but we just wanted to take the next step\, upgrade\, and tailor a cocktail menu\,” says general manager Eric Bouvet. “We do all 32 classics at any given time\, and we also have a small list of signature cocktails. We try to keep it simple\, offer good cocktails.” \n \nMelody Lounge and its multiple sister bars including The Short Stop in Echo Park and Footsies in Cypress Park\, typically fall under the same theme of slight preservation.
