Settling into its current iteration around 1975\, it was an early stage for drag and gay cabaret acts and a safe space for non-identifying Latinx locals. In the early 2000s\, it gained notoriety as one of the central hubs and incubators for the blossoming indie music scene. \n \nBands like Rilo Kiley\, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club\, and The Silversun Pickups all started on our stage. As the longest-standing\, independent\, live music venue in Silverlake\, the blending of the two subcultures has cemented its place in local history. The Silverlake Lounge is a place of diversity and a safe space for Creatives and the Queer BIPOC community. It is one of the few properties left that serves the whole of its community. \nOur continued mission is to produce nightly entertainment that presents independent\, emerging artists to greater Los Angeles and its welcomed travelers while remaining a local watering hole for the East Side neighborhood. We feature lineups that represent the color and diversity of our community— indie\, punk\, country\, and folk artists’ sets\, singer/songwriter showcases\, weekend drag cabaret\, comedy\, and karaoke. Contact 310 376-9833 \n\n \n30 Pier Avenue\, Hermosa Beach\, CA 90254 \n \nA restaurant called “Verpilate’s” was built a short walk from the ocean at 30 Pier Avenue in 1934\, and it was converted into “The Lighthouse”\, a bar\, in 1940 (“Café” was added to the official name only when the business was sold in 1981). The club first began showcasing jazz music on May 29\, 1949\, when owner John Levine permitted bassist/band leader Howard Rumsey to start a recurring Sunday jam session on a trial basis. The experiment was a success. Rumsey became club manager soon after and put together a house band called the Lighthouse All-Stars. \nWhile the club also hosted visiting groups\, the Lighthouse All-Stars became a noted ensemble in its own right\, which had among its guest musicians Chet Baker\, Gerry Mulligan\, and Miles Davis. The longest-running members of the Lighthouse All-Stars were Bob Cooper (tenor saxophone)\, Conte Candoli (trumpet)\, and Stan Levey (drums). \n \nWest Coast jazz stalwarts Shorty Rogers\, Richie Kamuca\, Bill Holman\, Bud Shank\, Shelly Manne\, and Jimmy Giuffre were also regulars in the early days. Max Roach was the regular drummer for a while in 1953. The club also became an important venue for recordings; Art Pepper\, Lee Morgan\, Cannonball Adderley\, Mose Allison\, Ramsey Lewis\, Art Blakey\, Charles Earland\, Grant Green\, Elvin Jones\, Cal Tjader\, the Modern Jazz Quartet\, The Three Sounds\, the Jazz Crusaders\, and Joe Henderson all made recordings there. \n \n“The Lighthouse” sponsored an inter-collegiate jazz festival in the late-1950s\, and the competition’s winners included Mike Melvoin and Les McCann. \nJohn Levine died in 1970 and Rumsey left “The Lighthouse” in 1971 to open the “Concerts By The Sea” jazz club in nearby Redondo Beach. DESCRIPTION:EVERY SUNDAY – Hollywood\nGood Times at Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood presents Strange Hotels\, every Sunday night.  Featuring 70’s DJ sets\, an energetic and charismatic host\, and a live performance by Strange Hotels\, it’s a whole ass vibe. \n  \n \nStrange Hotels- Indie- Electro Rock Duo\nOpening to a buzzing crowd of all ages\, cultures\, and persuasions–in an eclectic industrial atmosphere complete with burlesque dancers\, smoke machines\, and incense – the barefoot duo delivered an energetic set of life and synthesized dance sound and know-how-to to keep their audience engaged. Their continuous energetic\, driven show resulted in a bumper-to-bumper dance floor as they performed to a packed house of diverse\, die-hard hipster fans. \n \n\nAfter touring for years as a part of Portland’s iconic touring band The Lower 48\, cousins Ben Braden and Nick Sadler formed their indie-electro duo Strange Hotels in early 2018\, and within weeks of forming the duo\, they had the opportunity to open for Billie Eilish and Finneas at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Their songs have also been featured in several TV shows including Shameless\, Viceʼs King Of The Road\, and Conan O’Brien’s Needs a Friend.  They have described Strange Hotels as the most collaborative project they have been a part of and are a sonic blend of dance\, R&B\, vintage pop\, and indie rock.  They have taken a very DIY approach to record their songs\, recording and producing their music solely on iPads.  This allowed them to record in Airbnb’s and apartment studios on the road and\, as a result\, they released their debut and well-received EP Mixtape in January of 2018. They moved to Los Angles in 2019 and booked a residency at their favorite club\, booked other gigs\, and wrote a new batch of songs\, releasing their second EP\, Mixtape II\, at the end of 2019.  Going through some hard times during the pandemic and shutdowns in the music industry\, with things having opened back up\, they have been staying busy!   They recently released their latest single “Teen Dream Fantasy”\, a dreamy hit that strikes a chord of nostalgia with uplifting and energetic production\, captivating synth work\, and a stellar groove\, produced by The Strokes’ producer Gordon Raphael. \n\n \n1611 North El Centro Avenue\, Los Angeles\, CA 90028 \n \nDavid Wayne Houston\, father to Mark and Jonnie Houston\, was a blue-collar pool shark who enjoyed late nights in his garage building and fixing things–some of the brothers’ best memories. DESCRIPTION:EVERY SUNDAY- Third Street Promenade\nSalsa the night away with SALSA FAMILIA\, the Westside’s largest meet-up for salsa lovers on Third Street Promenade Downtown Santa Monica\, every Sunday night starting at 6 pm. Dancers of all levels are invited! Come alone\, bring the family or a date. Arrive early! \nWe are a casual and loosely structured group. We model ourselves after the street salsa gatherings you would find in places like Cuba\, Puerto Rico\, and New York. Not only do we have Salseras and Salseros but entire families\, friends\, and others who are interested in music\, dance\, and photography that gather to listen\, spectate and talk. In addition to Salsa\, there are Tango and Swing Dance Groups on the 3rd Street Promenade. Please feel free to visit and dance with them. The 3rd Street Promenade and nearby Santa Monica Place have restaurants\, theaters\, and street entertainment. \n \n  \n\n \n  \nThe Third Street Promenade is a pedestrian mall esplanade\, shopping\, dining and entertainment complex in the downtown area of Santa Monica\, California which originally opened as the Santa Monica Mall on November 8\, 1965. The 3rd Street Promenade consists of three open-air\, car-free blocks with everything from fresh farmers-market produce to designer fashions. \n\n \nDowntown Santa Monica is equal parts shopping haven and street-performer stage. Just east of the Pier\, the 3rd Street Promenade consists of three open-air\, car-free blocks that are anchored by upscale Santa Monica Place\, home to more than 80 retailers. With everything from fresh farmers market produce to designer fashions\, it’s a shopper’s nirvana. Likewise\, foodies rejoice in the numerous restaurants and bars\, featuring locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails. There’s excitement around every corner as street performers\, tourists\, locals\, diners\, movie goers\, and more flock to the area.
