Bring your friends who are smarter than you\, because you’re allowed to have up to 6 people on your trivia team-that’s why team trivia is better than solo trivia.  We don’t give points for creative answers\, but sometimes you’ll get free glassware and swag just for being the funniest.  Our host is Rebekah Fear stay late to hear her sing some badass karaoke. \nTeam Trivia starts at 7:30pm\, so don’t stop home after work\, come straight to the bar to get here before 7pm to take advantage of our happy hour specials!  We serve pizza\, tacos\, burritos & quesadillas\, so no need to drive through on your way here\, but if you’re craving a burger or sushi\, that’s ok too.  We allow outside food as long as its none of the food mentioned above.  It is a one DRINK per person minimum to participate in our team trivia- if you’re sober\, that’s okay\, we have soda\, juice\, non alcoholic beer and delicious cold-pressed coffee from Modern Times Brewery! \n  \n \nWhen team trivia is over around 10pm\, we have Emily Kirk getting you Kirked all night long with her amazing pipes on karaoke. \nEmily is a musician and comedian and hosts events all over town and now she is at The Oaks on Wednesday\, & Thursday nights hosting karaoke for you! Come enjoy some good music and some fantastic singers! karaoke  10pm-1:45am \n\nThursdays- Rock & Roll\n \nCome for some rock ‘n roll Thursdays with Atara! She happens to be our only girl host\, & is a kick-ass singer.  Too shy to sing alone?  She will sing along with you. Need a partner on a duet? Atara prefers rock\, but  she can sing everything\, ask her to be your partner\, she loves to sing. \n  \nFridays & Saturdays\n\n \nTaurus. What else can I say? \nLooking for a hot spot to host your karaoke birthday party on Saturday night?  The Oaks Tavern is the place in Sherman Oaks!  We have a young lively crowd on Saturdays singing all kinds of fun danceable songs so you can sing along and party with your friends.  KJ Slim (aka Tyler) runs a fun show\, you definitely want to come down and check it out. karaoke  Fridays 9pm-1:45am\, Saturdays 8pm-12:35m \nSunday- King Trivia/ Soul & R&B\n\nLooking for something to do in the Valley on a Sunday? In particular do you want to hang out with friends\, drink and tease your brain with trivia questions?  Do you want to win prizes and bar tabs by using your brain to show us how smart you are? Well… Trivia is so busy on Wednesday\, we added a second night of team trivia on Sunday!  So if you are looking for something to do in the Valley on a Sunday night\, look no further. Sunday night team trivia is so much fun! Start off your Sunday night or end your Sunday Funday here.    It’s fun\, with just enough random questions to give it the right amount of challenge.  Teams play for $30\, $20\, and $10 bar tabs\, plus give aways between rounds.  Don’t miss out!  Sunday night Karaoke starts right afterward so you can sing your little heart out. If you have a softball team\, trivia team\, soccer team\, any team\, just come down with them\, trust me it’s so much fun!  Hosted by your favorite gal on the mic\, Rebekah Fear. \n  \n\nYou might know King Orr as a local karaoke celebrity\, because he’s been running Sunday night karaoke at The Good Nite for years! Since the change in ownership there\, he has parted ways with his longtime bar and we are lucky enough to get him at The Oaks for karaoke on Sunday Nights. King likes to play a mix of hip hop\, soul\, and R&B\, but it’s not exclusive\, “sing whatever is on your soul” on Sundays. \n  \n\nPool Table Open Sun-Thurs 4pm-close\nFri & Sat 4-8pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\nyou must WEAR A MASK FOR ENTRY\,\nBUT YOU CAN TAKE IT OFF ONCE YOU’VE ORDERED A DRINK. \n\nVACCINE CARDS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR INDOOR DINING AND KARAOKE STARTING NOVEMBER 4TH. \n\n\nHours\n\nSunday: 9:30am-2:00am\nMonday – Friday: 5:00pm-2:00am\nSaturday: 1:00pm-2:00am\n\n\n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://www.theoakstavern.com/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

You can find our full review of Pluto TV HERE. \n  \n \nWhat is Pluto TV? \nWell let’s see. We could pen a historical essay about our 2013 origins. \n \nWe could toss around numbers like 100s of channels\, 200+ content partners\, and 26+ million viewers. We could even drone on about our huge library of on-demand content which spans across all genres of movies\, news\, TV shows\, sports\, documentaries\, and blah blah blahhh… \nBut why complicate things when Pluto TV is\, at its core\, really simple? \nAll you really need to know is… it’s free of passwords\, it’s free of payments\, and it’s free of all those Friday night spats about what to watch. \nPluto TV is a free live-stream television and on-demand video service from ViacomCBS. \n  \n\n\n\nSo just lean back. Drop in and enjoy the show. It’s free.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat will I Find on Pluto TV?\n\n\nLIVE TV\n\n\n\n\nBlockbuster Movies\n \nComedy\n \nCult Classics\n \n\nKids & Family Friendly Programing \n\n\nSports\n \nNews\n\n\nLatino\n \n\n\nWatch on your \nSmart TV\, Streaming Devices\, Mobile App\, Desktop App or Watch On The Web\n\n\n \n\nOwned by ViacomCBS\, Pluto TV is a live-TV streaming service\, not entirely unlike Sling TV and such competitors as DirecTV Now\, Hulu+ Live TV\, or other similar services. But unlike those services which offer streaming access to channels you’d find on cable TV\, Pluto TV offers free content mainly curated from what’s already available online. Pluto TV launched in 2014 and picked up steam fairly quickly making it the largest free TV streaming service in the U.S. \nYou’re not going to find standard TV channels\, though some are represented via their web counterparts\, especially news outlets. Those include familiar names like Bloomberg\, Cheddar\, CNBC\, MSNBC\, CBSN\, and many others. As of April 2019\, it also includes CNN\, though not the full\, live CNN you get on cable. Instead\, the CNN channel features a curated playlist of short-form digital content from CNN’s anchors and reporters. Featured clips are oriented toward lifestyle and culture\, climate change\, the environment\, and original CNN investigations and interviews. A similar channel for NBC called NBC News Now arrived in February 2020. Other recent additions to Pluto include CMT\, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud\, and Red Bull TV\, plus a handful of new themed channels in Celebrity\, Reality\, and Lives\, the perfect cocktail for pop culture and reality TV enthusiasts. \nSports coverage is less conventional — you’re not going to find the likes of ESPN here. Instead\, you’ll find choices like Fight\, World Poker Tour\, Impact Wrestling\, a dedicated Sports News network\, Glory Kickboxing\, and the Big Sky Network. DAZN recently signed a deal to provide an original weekly series on Pluto TV\, and there’s potential for that partnership to expand down the line. Pluto has recently added an official PGA Tour channel with 24/7 coverage of one of golf’s biggest tournaments. \nIn the Entertainment section\, there are reruns of reality and documentary shows alongside episodes of Dennis the Menace\, Thunderbirds\, and other older TV shows. Among those various channels\, you’ll also find Wipeout\, a network that only shows reruns of the popular game show and various iterations from different countries\, as well as Nosey\, which shows reruns of The Jerry Springer Show and The Maury Show\, among others. Meanwhile\, the Curiosity section features Science TV\, Docu TV\, Xive TV\, and even a NASA live stream. New additions include Pluto TV Sitcoms\, offering a selection of older comedies like 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Lucy Show\, and a Spanish-language channel called Pluto TV Cine. \n  \n\nFor additional information\, visit the Pluto TV website @ \npluto.tv\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

For many Angelenos\, the name evokes a panorama of memories—from picnics\, hikes\, horses\, and softball games to the zoo\, observatory\, trains\, and\, of course\, the Autry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBut how much do you really know about Griffith Park? How did it come to be\, and what are its best-kept secrets? Join us as we explore stories about Griffith Park\, a landscape that we honor as Tongva/Gabrielino land and a public park for Los Angeles. \n  \n \n  \nTo celebrate Griffith Park’s 125th anniversary in 2021\, the Autry\, has opened a community-led exhibition. The Autry’s newest exhibition\, Investigating Griffith Park\, a hands-on space that invites visitors to share their stories\, experiences\, and input on what the anniversary celebration should include. \n \n  \nOne section of the current gallery asks\, “What is the park to you?” and invites visitors to write responses. The museum says that while the public’s notes may influence the final exhibition\, they’re also helping the museum plan future questions\, focus group topics\, and talk-back sessions with partner organizations. \n \n\n\n\nWhile the Autry designed the gallery as a way to gather feedback from the public\, it’s also a great introduction to what the park offers. Visitors will find historical artifacts and photos\, video clips of Griffith Park’s many movie appearances\, a kids’ play area\, and an oversized board game about P-22\, the beloved mountain lion. \nEven the area of the park where the Autry is located has a fascinating history. In addition to the upcoming anniversary exhibition\, the Autry’s long-term plan includes building a research archive around Griffith Park in order to make it easier for people to study the park and to spur further research. \n  \n\n\n\n\nTimeline:\nCurrently open in its first phase of development\, we welcome your feedback as we further transform one of the Autry’s core galleries into an experiential\, hands-on space. SUMMARY:THE HAMMER MUSEUM
DESCRIPTION:FREE FOR GOOD! Westwood Village\nThe Hammer Museum champions the art and artists who challenge us to see the world in a new light\, to experience the unexpected\, to ignite our imaginations\, and inspire change. \n\nThe Hammer understands that art not only has the power to transport us through aesthetic experience but can also provide significant insight into some of the most pressing cultural\, political\, and social questions of our time. We share the unique and invaluable perspectives that artists have on the world around us. \nA vibrant intellectual and creative nexus\, the Hammer is fueled by dynamic exhibitions and programs—including lectures\, symposia\, film series\, readings\, and musical performances—that spark meaningful encounters with art and ideas. \nAnd through our unwavering commitment to free admission and free public programs\, the Hammer is open for all and FREE FOR GOOD.\n\n \n  \n\nA BIGGER\, BETTER HAMMER MUSEUM\n\nIf oil magnate Armand Hammer were alive today\, he might marvel that the museum he launched in Westwood before his death in 1990 has evolved into one of the most forward-focused art institutions in Los Angeles. After all\, the museum was originally designed to house his fine collection of old-master paintings and drawings\, as well as works on paper by Honoré Daumier and his 19th-century contemporaries. \n\n\n\n\n\nBut in the ensuing decades\, as the art world has continued to evolve\, so has Los Angeles — and so has the Hammer Museum\, which is now a part of the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture. In 1994\, UCLA assumed management and operations of the museum\, and the Hammer kept its original purpose but also expanded its mission. Today\, the Hammer has a wide reputation for innovation and for showcasing new artists. \n  \n\nNew Contemporary Gallery\n\n  \n“L.A. has become a hotbed of contemporary art and artists\,” says Ann Philbin\, the museum’s director since 1999\, “and the Hammer has become a premier institution where they are shown.” \n  \n\n\n4th-Floor-Offices\n\n  \nUnder Philbin’s leadership\, the museum has expanded its collections and programs\, including establishing the Hammer Projects series of exhibitions and installations featuring local\, national and international emerging artists. It also launched the Made in L.A. biennial\, now in its fourth edition. Through these and other innovations\, the Hammer has quadrupled its attendance to about 250\,000 a year. \n  \nLindbrook Terrace\n  \nMeanwhile\, Occidental Petroleum\, which occupied the adjoining building\, relocated to Houston\, Texas. So the Hammer has begun a major\, multiyear expansion that will take the museum far into the 21st century. \nEarlier this year\, the Hammer announced a $180 million capital campaign. Almost half of those funds will be used to expand gallery and other public spaces\, while the rest will go toward exhibitions\, programming and an endowment. The museum has already raised more than $130 million\, including $30 million from L.A. philanthropists Lynda and Stewart ’59\, J.D. ’62 Resnick and $20 million from Hammer board chair Marcy Carsey. \n  \n  \nAnnex\n  \nThe renovations and additions being designed by Michael Maltzan Architecture\, who was commissioned in 2000 to create the museum’s 2003 master plan\, include: \n• A newly designed entrance at Wilshire and Westwood boulevards to maximize the museum’s visual presence at one of the nation’s busiest intersections. In the coming years\, the museum will also benefit from a planned Metro Purple Line station across Wilshire. \n• More than 10\,000 square feet of additional exhibition space for contemporary art. \n• New permanent collection galleries and a study room for the Grunwald Center Collection. \n• 20\,000 square feet of enhanced public spaces\, including a new restaurant. \n• A new and more accessible Hammer Store. \n  \n  \n2nd Floor B Side\n  \nIn all\, the expansion will provide 60 percent more gallery space for exhibitions. The museum will remain open during construction\, and admission will continue to be free. “We’re accessible to everyone\, and that keeps people coming back\,” Philbin says. “L.A. has been growing as one of the world’s most exciting cultural creative communities\, and the museum has grown alongside it.” \n  \n\n  \nBookstore\nHISTORY OF THE HAMMER MUSEUM\nThe Hammer Museum opened to the public in November 1990. Founded by Dr. Armand Hammer\, former Chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corporation\, the Museum was designed by architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. Financed by Occidental\, the Museum was built adjacent to the Corporation’s international headquarters in Westwood. At that time\, the Museum featured galleries for Dr. Hammer’s collections — old master paintings and drawings\, and a collection of works on paper by Honore Daumier and his contemporaries — as well as galleries for traveling exhibitions. Dr. Hammer passed away in December 1990\, three weeks after the opening of the Museum leaving many spaces unfinished. \nIn 1992\, the Museum began negotiations with its neighbor\, University of California\, Los Angeles (UCLA)\, to assume the management and operations of the institution. In April 1994\, the partnership with UCLA was finalized and the following year the University relocated its collections and the staff of the Wight Art Gallery and the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts to the Hammer. The Museum also assumed responsibility for the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden\, located at the north end of the UCLA campus. \nHenry Hopkins\, then director of the Wight gallery and professor in the Department of Art\, became director of the Museum until his retirement in 1998. In 1999 Ann Philbin was named director and has developed a strong and original institutional identity and built a national and international reputation for thematic contemporary exhibitions\, scholarly historical exhibitions\, and contemporary artists’ projects. During her tenure the Hammer has formed a Hammer Contemporary Collection which now holds over 2\,000 artworks. In addition\, Philbin has overseen substantial renovations to the museum’s building\, including the completion of the 300-seat Billy Wilder Theater and museum café. With Philbin’s direction\, the museum instituted the internationally acclaimed Hammer Projects\, a series of more than one hundred contemporary exhibitions and installations featuring local\, national\, and international emerging artists. Philbin also created a series of dynamic public programs which are core to the Hammer’s identity and regularly feature many of the most influential authors\, artists\, and creative thinkers of our time. \n \n\nHours\nThe museum is open every day\, except Mondays\, July 4\, Thanksgiving\, Christmas\, and New Year’s Day. \nMonday: Closed\nTuesday – Friday: 11:00 a.m.-8:00p.m.\nSaturday & Sunday: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. \nAdmission to all exhibitions and public programs is free and open to the public. Free admission to the Hammer Museum is made possible through the generosity of Erika J Glazer and Brenda R. Potter. \n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhammer.ucla.edu\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Venice Run Club
DESCRIPTION:EVERY WEEK\, EVERY RUN\, EVERY BODY- Santa Monica & Venice\nThe Venice Run Club is the heartbeat of Venice. A community of runners here to better ourselves and our community. Come run with us. \n48 for Change\nWith the combination of a global pandemic and civil unrest around racial injustice\, June of 2020 set the stage for important societal and human issues to finally come to light in a more permanent way. This was the same time that two friends\, Justin and Tyler\, decided they wanted to take action to make a difference in the injustices and inequality we see in our communities. \n  \n\n\n\nThe week of George Floyd’s passing\, Justin called Tyler voicing his frustration from Floyd’s murder and subsequent reactions\, and they joined forces to do a running challenge that very weekend that entailed running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. A GoFundMe was set up to collect funds from friends and family throughout the running challenge to donate to help support racial justice. \nWhat started as a way to take the mind off of the pressure cooker of injustice resulted in a massively successful and attention-grabbing fundraiser\, and eventually turned into a 501(c)3 nonprofit\, still strong and growing today: 48 For Change. \nAside from fundraising and donating\, Justin found that the community that gathered to run that weekend was something special\, and needed its own spotlight. A place where anyone can come and simply run with a group of good people. Venice Run Club was born. \nNearly two years later\, we have grown into a strong group of 200+ runners\, given back $100\,000 and over 1\,100lbs of clothing to the LA community\, guided over 40 runners to completing their first marathon\, and become On’s first-ever sponsored run club in America. \nCome make friends\, break a sweat\, and get to know the city in the best way possible: by running its streets. \n\n\n\n  \n\nWeekly Run Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nTrack Tuesday- 7:30PM\n\nSanta Monica High School- 601 Pico Blvd\, Santa Monica\, CA 90405 \n\n\n\n\n\nMobbin Wednesday- 6:30pm\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n\n\n\n\nLong Run Saturday- 8:30am\n\nThe Kinney Hotel- 737 Washington Blvd Venice\, CA 90292 \n\n  \nFor additional information\, visit the website @ \nhttps://venicerunclub.co/\n \n  \nFind more \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n
