We just require a one drink minimum to sing. \nAfter OA Tuesdays we have… karaoke  10pm-1:45am \n  \nWednesday- King Trivia/ Karaoke with Kirk!\n \nJoin us every Wednesday for Team Trivia with King Trivia! \nEvery week\, teams of 2-6 people compete to prove they are the smartest\, or at least they have to most random information in their memory banks.  Not only do you get bragging rights\, but first place gets a $30 gift certificate\, second place gets a $20 gift certificate\, and if we have 5 or more teams we also give out third place!  Even if you aren’t so good at the trivia stuff (I suck at Trivia Crack)\, it’s fun to join in! DESCRIPTION:OPEN EVERYDAY- Griffith Park\nThe Old LA Zoo\, or The Griffith Park Zoo\, opened in 1912 and closed in 1966 with the opening of the new\, Los Angeles Zoo. The abandoned site of the Griffith Park Zoo\, complete with the ruins of animal enclosures\, is now a picnic area and hiking trail in Griffith Park. \n  \n \nThe Old LA Zoo opened in 1912 with a grand total of only 15 animals. Bears\, Lions\, Monkeys\, Macaw’s\, Elephants\, Reptiles\, Goats\, and Turtles now lived in the zoo\, which was built on the original site of Griffith J. Griffith‘s defunct ostrich farm. \n  \n \nAs Los Angeles grew\, the small Griffith Park Zoo was increasingly criticized as an “inadequate\, ugly\, poorly designed despite drawing more than 2 million visitors a year.  \nIn 1958\, the city decided to create a brand new zoo\, and the Griffith Park Zoo closed in August 1966. Its animals were transferred to the new Los Angeles Zoo 2 miles away\, which opened a few months later. \n  \n \nThe animal enclosures\, with the bars removed\, were left as ruins and remain today. A large picnic area was added\, and NOW every summer\, the zoo is the location for the Independent Shakespeare Company’s  Free “Shakespeare in the Park” performances. \nThe Old Zoo is located on Griffith Park Dr. Only 2 miles from today’s LA Zoo\,   \n  \n \nUpon arriving\, you will see a small parking lot. Follow the path Up the hill to reach the abandoned enclosure.  \nUpon arriving\, you will enter many of the original Grotto’s. DESCRIPTION:TODAY @ CAAM – Exposition Park\nCAMM is pleased to present \n  \n  \n  \n\n \n600 State Dr\, Los Angeles\, CA 90037\, USA \n\nABOUT CAAM\nThe California African American Museum‘s mission is to research\, collect\, preserve\, and interpret for public enrichment the history\, art\, and culture of African Americans with an emphasis on California and the western United States. \nFounded in 1977\, CAAM has a long and rich history. The first African American museum of art\, history\, and culture fully supported by a state\, CAAM was the direct result of a sustained\, multiyear campaign of activism undertaken by visionary founders and community members. Its creation was an early and tangible recognition by the State of California of the critically important role African Americans have played in the American West’s cultural\, economic\, and political development. \n \nCAAM’s permanent collection consists of over 5\,000 objects ranging from the 1800s to the present. It encompasses paintings\, photographs\, film\, sculpture\, historical documents\, and artifacts\, and it spans nineteenth-century landscape paintings to modern artworks to contemporary mixed-media reflections on cultural and political events. The Museum’s first acquisitions included a bronze bust of civil rights activist Dr. Mary Mcleod Bethune by artist Richmond Barthé and a sculpture by artist Maren Hassinger\, then at the start of her career. These laid the perfect groundwork for CAAM’s mandate to assemble a comprehensive\, thoughtful\, and wide-reaching collection. \nCAAM’s deepest holdings include art made or connected to African Americans in California and the western United States. However\, the Museum also has significant works of contemporary art from the African diaspora (including Haiti\, Brazil\, and Jamaica)\, as well as traditional African art from Western\, Central\, and Sub-Saharan Africa. CAAM aims to represent the diverse contributions of African Americans in the United States\, but also to interpret how the past has affected identity in the present. \n \nVISIT\nThe California African American Museum is located in the heart of Los Angeles\, just steps away from USC\, the California Science Center\, and the Natural History Museum. Take a glimpse at the great costume parties Davies hosted\, which included guests like Clark Gable and Greta Garbo. And learn about the transformation of the landmarked Guest House and pool\, which survive as the historic core of the estate today. \n \nTOURS ARE ON FRIDAY\, SATURDAY\, SUNDAY\, MONDAY AT 12:00 pm TO 2:00 pm\nSanta Monica Conservancy docents will be on hand to share the rich history of the Beach House site from the 1920s onward. \n\nFree 20-minute docent tours are available on a walk-up basis\, for groups of up to six people. Just head to the Marion Davies Guest House where you will be greeted by a docent. \nPlease mask up\, masks are required indoors at City of Santa Monica facilities. Paintings\, prints\, photography\, and sculpture join public art project maquettes and preparatory drawings for an eclectic mix of style and subject. The Art Bank municipal art collection was instituted in 1984 to bring art into Santa Monica’s public spaces and is funded through the City of Santa Monica’s Percent for Art Program. \n\n \n415 Pacific Coast Highway\, Santa Monica\, CA\, 90402  \n  \n \nYear-round\, enjoy a varied schedule of cultural programs\, classes\, and recreational amenities. The site is fully accessible\, including a pool lift and beach wheelchair. \nDuring the summer\, explore amenities and programs including summer-inspired classes and the pool. Annual events include the Community Picnic and Cardboard Yacht Regatta. Reservations are available – though not required – for the canopies and beach courts. Beach courts reservations are available year-round. \nFall\, winter\, and spring offer more contemplative programming including Audubon Society Bird Walks\, Happy Birthday Marion! and Julia Morgan Legacy Tours.  This time of year also provides ample opportunity for businesses\, organizations\, and individuals to rent event spaces for meetings and special events.  The site is also available for commercial film and photo shoots. Pop Up Pool Days may be scheduled around holiday weekends depending on weather and event bookings. \nTHINGS TO KNOW \n\nThe Annenberg Comunity Beach House is a public site\, open to all. No membership or reservations are required!\nThe grounds including the playground\, beach courts and fields\, beach access\, and the parking lot are open daily.\nThe public spaces including the courtyard\, splash pad\, and sandy areas open daily excluding select holidays\, and are first-come\, first-served with no charge to access. Reservations are not available for these areas\nTables\, chairs\, and umbrellas are available for use in the courtyard\, splash pad\, & view deck\nThe pool is open daily during the summer\, with select weekends in late spring and early fall. The pool is closed for the season from October through May. See pool schedule and admission fees.\nReservable canopies in the sand are available during the summer through Reserve Santa Monica.\nYear-round\, guests are welcome to bring their own canopy\, tables\, and chairs to set up in the sandy areas. Thanks to this crazy new bar in Winnetka\, CA and our buddy the bartender\, we were introduced to new styles of beer that were much different than the commercial brands we were used to. After many conversations on the process of making beer and the brewing techniques of smaller breweries\, we decided to take a chance at brewing our own malted\, adult beverages!We signed up for a Maltose Falcons class\, bought a brewing kit and a turkey fryer and made a batch of beer on June 23\, 2012. After this first batch\, we were hooked! We invested more time in learning about the process\, fabricated custom brewing equipment and experimented with new recipes while tweaking them to make them our own.After serving samples of our homemade brews and getting positive feedback\, we began talking of doing it legit and opening up a brewery!  Given our Valley roots and the fact our beer was brewed out of a garage in Sylmar\, CA\, we decided 818 Brewing was the perfect name and we filed our paperwork in October 2014 for our new venture. \nWhat we’ve enjoyed the most along our journey is the sense of community within the craft brew scene.
