With special guest regularly making appearances\, you never know who will stop by.  karaoke  10pm-1:45am \n\n\nTuesday- The Oaks Acoustic and Open Mic Singer/ Songwriter\n\n \nTo get booked for a set 7:30-8:30pm shoot Joey a message on IG @bluemusicj \nIf you are a singer/ songwriter and want to bring your own guitar and sing your own stuff\, you can sign up to sing 8:30-9:30pm! We just require a one drink minimum to sing. \nAfter OA Tuesdays we have… karaoke  10pm-1:45am \n  \nWednesday- King Trivia/ Karaoke with Kirk!\n \nJoin us every Wednesday for Team Trivia with King Trivia! \nEvery week\, teams of 2-6 people compete to prove they are the smartest\, or at least they have to most random information in their memory banks.  Not only do you get bragging rights\, but first place gets a $30 gift certificate\, second place gets a $20 gift certificate\, and if we have 5 or more teams we also give out third place!  Even if you aren’t so good at the trivia stuff (I suck at Trivia Crack)\, it’s fun to join in! Bring your friends who are smarter than you\, because you’re allowed to have up to 6 people on your trivia team-that’s why team trivia is better than solo trivia.  We don’t give points for creative answers\, but sometimes you’ll get free glassware and swag just for being the funniest.  Our host is Rebekah Fear stay late to hear her sing some badass karaoke. \nTeam Trivia starts at 7:30pm\, so don’t stop home after work\, come straight to the bar to get here before 7pm to take advantage of our happy hour specials!  We serve pizza\, tacos\, burritos & quesadillas\, so no need to drive through on your way here\, but if you’re craving a burger or sushi\, that’s ok too.  We allow outside food as long as its none of the food mentioned above.  It is a one DRINK per person minimum to participate in our team trivia- if you’re sober\, that’s okay\, we have soda\, juice\, non alcoholic beer and delicious cold-pressed coffee from Modern Times Brewery! \n  \n \nWhen team trivia is over around 10pm\, we have Emily Kirk getting you Kirked all night long with her amazing pipes on karaoke. \nEmily is a musician and comedian and hosts events all over town and now she is at The Oaks on Wednesday\, & Thursday nights hosting karaoke for you! A quiet entryway welcomes you through the door into a low-key hideaway ridden with an array of superb cocktails and a collection of craft beers that will make your head spin. \n \nOnce you enter Melody Lounge\, you will find yourself within a cozy nook illuminated by red lanterns\, giving off an alluring crimson hue to the place. A vinyl record is usually spinning\, playing just loud enough to not have to yell over while you’re chatting with your bartender. With typically\, a moderately laid-back atmosphere\, on rowdier nights like Sundays when they feature karaoke from 9:30 to close\, the room fills up quickly and the good times roll. \n \nReaching its five-year anniversary in March\, Melody Lounge started solely as a craft beer bar and received its full liquor license just over one year ago\, allowing them to accumulate quite the range of spirits to coincide with its diverse gallery of craft brews. \n“We still have a big focus on craft beer\, which is where our roots are\, but we just wanted to take the next step\, upgrade\, and tailor a cocktail menu\,” says general manager Eric Bouvet. “We do all 32 classics at any given time\, and we also have a small list of signature cocktails. The bar has a long and celebrated history within the Indie Music Scene and the LGBT community that continues to this day. Settling into its current iteration around 1975\, it was an early stage for drag and gay cabaret acts and a safe space for non-identifying Latinx locals. In the early 2000s\, it gained notoriety as one of the central hubs and incubators for the blossoming indie music scene. \n \nBands like Rilo Kiley\, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club\, and The Silversun Pickups all started on our stage. As the longest-standing\, independent\, live music venue in Silverlake\, the blending of the two subcultures has cemented its place in local history. The Silverlake Lounge is a place of diversity and a safe space for Creatives and the Queer BIPOC community. It is one of the few properties left that serves the whole of its community. \nOur continued mission is to produce nightly entertainment that presents independent\, emerging artists to greater Los Angeles and its welcomed travelers while remaining a local watering hole for the East Side neighborhood. We feature lineups that represent the color and diversity of our community— indie\, punk\, country\, and folk artists’ sets\, singer/songwriter showcases\, weekend drag cabaret\, comedy\, and karaoke. The abandoned site of the Griffith Park Zoo\, complete with the ruins of animal enclosures\, is now a picnic area and hiking trail in Griffith Park. \n  \n \nThe Old LA Zoo opened in 1912 with a grand total of only 15 animals. Bears\, Lions\, Monkeys\, Macaw’s\, Elephants\, Reptiles\, Goats\, and Turtles now lived in the zoo\, which was built on the original site of Griffith J. Griffith‘s defunct ostrich farm. \n  \n \nAs Los Angeles grew\, the small Griffith Park Zoo was increasingly criticized as an “inadequate\, ugly\, poorly designed despite drawing more than 2 million visitors a year.  \nIn 1958\, the city decided to create a brand new zoo\, and the Griffith Park Zoo closed in August 1966. Its animals were transferred to the new Los Angeles Zoo 2 miles away\, which opened a few months later. \n  \n \nThe animal enclosures\, with the bars removed\, were left as ruins and remain today. A large picnic area was added\, and NOW every summer\, the zoo is the location for the Independent Shakespeare Company’s  Free “Shakespeare in the Park” performances. \nThe Old Zoo is located on Griffith Park Dr. Only 2 miles from today’s LA Zoo\,   \n  \n \nUpon arriving\, you will see a small parking lot. Follow the path Up the hill to reach the abandoned enclosure.  \nUpon arriving\, you will enter many of the original Grotto’s. After this first batch\, we were hooked! We invested more time in learning about the process\, fabricated custom brewing equipment and experimented with new recipes while tweaking them to make them our own.After serving samples of our homemade brews and getting positive feedback\, we began talking of doing it legit and opening up a brewery!  Given our Valley roots and the fact our beer was brewed out of a garage in Sylmar\, CA\, we decided 818 Brewing was the perfect name and we filed our paperwork in October 2014 for our new venture. \nWhat we’ve enjoyed the most along our journey is the sense of community within the craft brew scene.
