DESCRIPTION:EVERY SUNDAY – Hollywood\nGood Times at Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood presents Strange Hotels\, every Sunday night.  Featuring 70’s DJ sets\, an energetic and charismatic host\, and a live performance by Strange Hotels\, it’s a whole ass vibe. \n  \n \nStrange Hotels- Indie- Electro Rock Duo\nOpening to a buzzing crowd of all ages\, cultures\, and persuasions–in an eclectic industrial atmosphere complete with burlesque dancers\, smoke machines\, and incense – the barefoot duo delivered an energetic set of life and synthesized dance sound and know-how-to to keep their audience engaged. Their continuous energetic\, driven show resulted in a bumper-to-bumper dance floor as they performed to a packed house of diverse\, die-hard hipster fans. \n \n\nAfter touring for years as a part of Portland’s iconic touring band The Lower 48\, cousins Ben Braden and Nick Sadler formed their indie-electro duo Strange Hotels in early 2018\, and within weeks of forming the duo\, they had the opportunity to open for Billie Eilish and Finneas at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Their songs have also been featured in several TV shows including Shameless\, Viceʼs King Of The Road\, and Conan O’Brien’s Needs a Friend.  They have described Strange Hotels as the most collaborative project they have been a part of and are a sonic blend of dance\, R&B\, vintage pop\, and indie rock.  They have taken a very DIY approach to record their songs\, recording and producing their music solely on iPads.  This allowed them to record in Airbnb’s and apartment studios on the road and\, as a result\, they released their debut and well-received EP Mixtape in January of 2018. They moved to Los Angles in 2019 and booked a residency at their favorite club\, booked other gigs\, and wrote a new batch of songs\, releasing their second EP\, Mixtape II\, at the end of 2019.  Going through some hard times during the pandemic and shutdowns in the music industry\, with things having opened back up\, they have been staying busy!   They recently released their latest single “Teen Dream Fantasy”\, a dreamy hit that strikes a chord of nostalgia with uplifting and energetic production\, captivating synth work\, and a stellar groove\, produced by The Strokes’ producer Gordon Raphael. \n\n \n1611 North El Centro Avenue\, Los Angeles\, CA 90028 \n \nDavid Wayne Houston\, father to Mark and Jonnie Houston\, was a blue-collar pool shark who enjoyed late nights in his garage building and fixing things–some of the brothers’ best memories. With spectacular views\, splash pad\, playground\, gallery\, Marion Davies Guest House\, beach courts & fields\, community & cultural events\, historic pool\, free wi-fi\, and more\, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! \n  \n \nSPLASH PAD\nThe Splash Pad is a water feature that shoots water out of the ground and is very popular with small children.\nThe courtyard and splash pad will open daily May – October\, 9am-4pm. \n  \n \nChildren’s Playground\nThere is a children’s playground featuring swings\, climbing play-sets\, and of course a sandy area to play. There are benches\, chairs\, and tables for adults to sit while the kids play.  \n\n\nBeach Soccer & Volleyball Courts\nYou may reserve beach soccer or volleyball courts 4 weeks in advance for $10/hour during the summer pool season. Beach court and field reservations are intended for individual or small party use only. Reservations are not required for court or field use. How do I check out a Chromebook kit?\nRequests for Chromebook kits can be made using our online catalog or over the phone\, like any of our other materials. At this time requests are site-specific and can only be placed at libraries offering the service (listed above). Call a library offering the service to arrange a same-day checkout\, if kits are available.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. When can I pick up my Laptop & Hotspot?\nCall the owning library and arrange to pick up your kit during Sidewalk Service hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4. How long can I keep the Laptop & Hotspot Loan? Can I renew?\nThe kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks. If no other customers are on the waiting list\, the checkout can be renewed up to 3 times. The renewal needs to be made before your checkout period ends.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n5. How do I return the Chromebook Kit?\nChromebooks must be returned in person to the owning library during Sidewalk Service hours. They cannot be returned in the bookdrop. They cannot be returned to any library other than the one where the kit was checked out. Please call the owning library to arrange a drop-off time and call again once at the library to alert staff. Staff will bring out a box labeled Laptop Return to the Sidewalk Service table. You’ll be instructed to remove all items – the Chromebook\, the wireless hotspot\, and both charging cables – from the carrying case. Put the case into the box first\, on the bottom\, and then put all other items in on top. Staff will check the box to make sure all items are inside and that they look fine. All items will be quarantined for 4 days and confirmed to be working properly before being checked in. Staff will contact you if there are any questions or concerns. Please remember that the loan will still show on your account until the quarantine and check-in process is complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6. Are there late fees?\nLate fees will be assessed the same as all other library materials. The Chromebook will become disabled once the loan period has ended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7. Will I be charged if the Chromebook is damaged while in my possession? How much?\nYes\, fees will depend on the type of damage.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8. Will my documents stay on the Chromebook after I return it?\nAll documents are deleted once the Chromebook is shut down. This will happen even during your 3-week checkout period\, so we advise you to back up your documents on a flash drive or in Google Docs if you are working on something you want to keep.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9. Sunset Blvd West Hollywood\, CA 90069 \nAs long as there has been a Los Angeles rock scene\, there has been the Whisky A Go-Go. An anchor on the Sunset Strip since its opening in 1964\, the Whisky A Go-Go has played host to rock ‘n’ roll’s most important bands\, from the Doors\, Janis Joplin\, and Led Zeppelin to today’s up-and-coming new artists. \n \nOn January 16\, 1964\, a small club on the Sunset Strip opened its doors for the first time.\n\nIt was The Whisky a Go Go\, the first-ever live music venue to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the most iconic club on the Strip. Founded by Mario Maglieri\, Elmer Valentine\, and Phil Tanzini – The Whisky had to spell its name without the ‘e’ in whiskey because Los Angeles city zoning laws didn’t allow any club to be named after alcohols (The Whisky constantly had problems with the city and for a while had the name “The Whisk?”). The world-famous Whisky a Go Go opened on Jan. 15\, 1964\, with a concert by Johnny Rivers. \nA DJ named Joanie Labine (the first DJ at The Whisky) played records in a booth that was suspended to the right of the stage in between Johnny Rivers’ sets. Labine entertained the crowd by dancing and the idea of the go-go dancer was born.
