DESCRIPTION:EVERY THURSDAY 12:30–1:00PM- Online via ZOOM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWould you like to learn how to meditate? Join the Hammer Museum each Thursday for Mindful Awareness Meditation Online. Mindfulness Meditation is the moment-by-moment process of actively and openly observing one’s physical\, mental\, and emotional experiences. Mindfulness has scientific support as a means to reduce stress\, improve attention\, boost the immune system\, reduce emotional reactivity\, and promote a general sense of health and well-being. These half hour weekly sessions are open to all who are interested in learning how to live more presently in life. No special clothing is required\, and participants are welcome to join for five minutes or enjoy the entire 30 minutes.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese free weekly drop-in sessions usually take place in the Hammer’s Billy Wilder Theater but are now offered live online via Zoom. \nMindful Awareness Meditation is provided by UCLA & The Hammer Museum\n  \nff \n\nSessions are led by Diana Winston and other instructors from the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. He has also been a musician\, performer\, and conductor at Disneyland for the past 38 years where he is currently the conductor of the Disneyland Band\, leader of the Fanfare Trumpets and Pearly Band\, and serves as Master of Ceremonies for many park offerings. Additionally\, Curtis has performed with orchestras throughout Southern California\, including Broadway shows at the Ahmanson Theater. He has been a recording musician in Hollywood on many movie soundtracks\, television shows and cartoons\, and has toured extensively throughout the United States and Japan. Curtis’ wide-ranging musical expertise and background in entertainment will serve him well in his new role as conductor of the Long Beach Municipal Band. One lucky student will have the opportunity to win $500 and be titled “The Voice of Garden Grove 2022.” Another $500 will be donated towards the winning student’s high school choir. \nTo be considered an official contestant\, students must be in grade level 9-12 and enrolled in the Garden Grove Unified School District or live in Garden Grove (includes private school and home school). Student ID’s will be checked. \n\n\n\nAbout Garden Grove Community Foundation\n\nHistory\nIn 1998\, members of the Garden Grove City Council\, community\, and business leaders came together with a common goal: to create an organization that would enhance the quality of life for Garden Grove residents and businesses. Out of their efforts came the Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF). Starting as a simple group of friends that enjoyed running together\, Koreatown Run Club has quickly become a community rooted in Los Angeles’ streetwear\, music\, food and art scenes. \nThe membership is diverse and informal: Anyone can show up.
