West Coast Symphony: Grand Performances Celebrates 50 Years of Hip-Hop through the lens of DJ Battlecat & Friends. This Black August, experience a full night of classic hits covered, re-interpreted, and accented with original compositions from an extensive list of surprise guests & Grammy-winning musicians in his supergroup G-Funk All-Stars with legendary Hip-Hop producer DJ Battlecat as maestro.

West Coast Symphony will feature opening beat sets from 2092 Funk Radio Records beginning promptly at 6:00 pm and a timely Thes One tribute to his People Under the Stairs brother Double K (RIP).

Meet us under the stars on Grand Avenue in the heart of DTLA for a trip down memory lane and a peek into the future of West Coast Hip-Hop; powered by Fusicology, One Mind Group, Godspeed Radio, and Red Bull Music.

Kevin “DJ Battlecat” Gilliam is a legendary music producer, DJ, and musician, created from the landscape of Los Angeles, California. DJ Battlecat was an original member of Uncle Jam’s Army and the 1580 KDAY Mix Masters. He was key in developing the “West Coast” sound while working with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Tha Dogg Pound, E-40, Tha Eastsidaz, WC, Nate Dogg, Xzibit, and music icon, Dr. Dre. DJ Battlecat also fused his sound with dynamic artists like Brian McKnight, Lucy Pearl, BJ the Chicago Kid, Talib Kweli, Kenny Lattimore, Deborah Cox, and Faith Evans.
