Our docents are retired Firefighters, many of whom have worked on our more recent apparatus, or similar rigs. Your guides are extremely knowledgeable and just about the friendliest group of people you will meet. They have stories to tell and are open to sharing them with you.
Antique fire apparatus are the stars of the showroom. Some of our finest specimens are on display. The world-famous television show EMERGENCY! 51’s are all here; The Crown Engine 51, the Ward LaFrance Engine 51, and Squad 51. We have rigs from the late 1800s through the 20th Century all shined up and ready for your inspection. The City of Bellflower’s first Los Angeles County Fire Department engine, Engine 23, is here. This apparatus underwent a massive restoration in preparation for the Museum’s grand opening in July of 2018.
Display cases surround the showroom and are full of very interesting fire-related artifacts. Visit our famous Engine Company 51 Store, our Museum gift shop. Most items are available online, but not all. You will have a close-up view of our special items available for purchase in-house only.
Group tours and private visits will be accommodated if possible. Please use the Contact Us form to provide us with your dates and other pertinent information so we may try to accommodate you the best we can.
When you get hungry, the Museum is located in central downtown Bellflower alongside many fine Local Restaurants. You will find many cuisines to choose from, like sushi, bar-b-q, custom sandwiches, Italian, Mexican, burgers, and more.

The Los Angeles County Fire Museum is the brand for the public face. The County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association is the official organization that oversees all of the Museum’s assets.
In the mid-1970s, two Los Angeles County Firefighters began what would become The County of Los Angeles Fire Museum Association. By the end of the 80s, our Museum was formally organized under the State of California as a not-for-profit public benefit corporation.
The Association acquired, and still maintains, a space in the LACo Fire Department Headquarters in Los Angeles, storage units at the Department’s Air facility in Pacoima, and a large warehouse in South Gate. Around the year 2000, the Association rented an old auto repair shop from the city of Bellflower, CA. This facility became the first public face for the Association and allowed us to open to the public for the first time.
In July of 2018, the City of Bellflower became a partner with the Association. The showcase Museum is located on the bottom floor of Bellflower’s MAYNE EVENTS CENTER. The auto body repair building was purchased by The Association the same year and now houses the Los Angeles County Fire Museum’s “The Shop”, the place where all the hard restoration work is now performed.
