This major fundraising event of Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital will support The Associates Chair in Endocrinology and The Associates Chair in Transplant Surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is dedicated to creating hope and building healthier futures for children. Founded in 1901, CHLA is one of the nation’s leading pediatric academic medical centers and is acknowledged worldwide for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health. The hospital relies on the generosity of the community to support its groundbreaking pediatric research and the complex care it provides for critically ill and injured children.

In 1957 Palos Verdes resident Betty Learned received a call from Mary Duque, the Associates & Affiliates Director at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), challenging Betty to consider raising $1,000 to help build a recovery unit at the hospital. Betty summoned her friend Betty Davidson to help her respond to this challenge, the two gathered ten more vibrant Peninsula women to answer the call – and PCCH was born.
The Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital is unique in that entire families become involved in the colorful show. They provide planning, preparation and personnel to staff the event, and in the process, they give over 15,000 volunteer hours each year. An atmosphere of hometown fun is created through the decorations, booths and boutiques.
